- Hayley H0 contributionsGreat Tour!Amazing tour with Scott. He was just the right amount of serious with facts and fun with a few jokes thrown in. The tour lasted the best part of 3 hours and involved a lot of walking including to the top of a hill and the meeting point is up a hill/steps depending on which side you get to the colosseum from. So not for those who can't be on their feet and mobile for that amount of time. And I say that because some fellow travellers had made it to the meeting point but had to leave friends behind because they couldn't do the steps to the meeting point, let alone the hill! So be sure to know, this isn't a leisurely stroll around ancient Rome, it's as good as any gym session especially in the heat. Be sure to take a water bottle, there's plenty of places to fill it up on the way and if you want to avoid an awkward moment at the end of the tour, take some cash for a tip! (Sorry Scott!) But definitely worth the money for the access you get, skipping the queues and hearing about the things you wouldn't if you just walked around on your ownWritten September 13, 2024

- 490egles0 contributionsJust take a look at the nice pictures with Rome but go elsewhere in Italy :).Rome is great to look at. However, in summer it is hot. Air quality is bad (little rain and no wind). It is dirty and vaste are all over in the streets even in the morning. Homless is a problem. The city is very expensive. I think it suffers from overtourism. Please consider other places. Just take a look at the nice pictures with Rome but go elsewhere in Italy :).Written September 12, 2024

Hot el sent it over and we got in however guide left no contact details to link up. We did the forum and palatine hill and then found the group at entrance. We did the Vip tour but were not allowed beneath the floor of arena due to rain previous day .( no refund ) the guide said she was ending the tour took headsets only to see her 5 mins later with half our group ??? - BMK2590 contributionsCannot RecommendI would not recommend. Most of the day is spent on the bus. Too rushed. One port would have been nicer, giving us more time to enjoy the sights, shop and have a meal. Coastal cruise is a bit misleading. It is not a cruise - you travel on local ferries. The tour guide (Angela) was great. The driver was also great. Scenery was beautiful. Overall just too rushed in each port. Our tour lasted about 16 hours and about 12 of those were on the bus or ferries.Written September 11, 2024

Wish I could say something positive about this trip but it was a total bore. Our guide tried their best to be engaging but didn’t help things be less boring. The first couple stops were a total let down, and our guide breezed through them.
There was one point a few people noticed bones in the crypts and our guide completely missed that so half the group didn’t end up seeing it.
The catacombs/crypt museum at the end was the only cool part and we spent like 10 mins cus we were almost there by closing.
It was such a bore that a handful of people left mid tour. You are much better off getting your own $8 ticket to the crypt museum and seeing it on your own. Believe me when I say that this was a total waste of time.

This was an awesome tour, and Jonathan B., our tour guide, was delightful, knowledgeable and funny. We took a tour bus out to Domatilla, which was an extraordinary experience, then on to San Clemente, equally interesting and informative, then finished with a tour of the Capuchin crypts. This tour was definitely worth the cost, it would be hard if not impossible to replicate this experience on one's own. I highly recommend it!

My wife and I were so impressed by the passion and extensive knowledge of our guide, Andrea Galonghi, that we’re still talking about it. We got a deep, layered history of early Christian Rome and the development of the church in layers through time as we walked deep into the fascinating labyrinth of the catacombs. This young man’s true passion for the history of his city coupled with a real talent for weaving the narrative and historical perspective with the actual sights is worthy of great praise.

This tour fell on the rainy day of our trip, so it was perfect because it was all inside and we travelled by motor coach between the sites. We visited one of the catacombs (there are four major catacombs in Rome), the church with the three churches below, and the bone chapel. Our guide, Jon, was funny, engaging, and a storehouse of knowledge. This tour greatly enhanced my knowledge and understanding of Rome and the Catholic Church.
I highly recommend this tour - a great combination of history and information. Plus, you don't have to figure out the logistics of how to visit all of these places on your own. We visited all three sites in three hours.

This tour was simply good. Left thankful to have taken it, but not overly impressed by any means. Tour guides were kind and informative; however, they were not very personable, and information given felt like something out of Wikipedia and was hard to follow at times. There are no microphones/earphones provided so you’ll need to stay up front to hear everything. What was not exactly clear prior to departure was you will be taking a bus and ~30-45minutes is spent on a bus. For the crypt only you will need to have your knees and shoulders covered, or pay 1€ for a coverall. You cannot take any photos except at the church. The crypt is just a couple rooms set up along a hallway that you pass through - interesting but the overall presentation is more fake like a museum setup and less like something natural. The actual museum is NOT included in your ticket, only the crypt hallway is. Not exactly worth the price but a good experience if this interests you.

Well done to Serena for leading us on an amazing tour. After several trips to Rome this was our first time visiting the Capuchin crypts. Fascinating and just the right amount of commentary to understand and respect the monks. The catacombs are well worth visiting as was St Clements. Underground Rome has many fantastic stories to tell and Serena helped to bring the history to life - even if we did know the significance of Linus.

A great tour, truly interesting! Andrea is an excellent guide that made the tour feel very unique. He was very knowledgeable and told the stories in a very fun and engaging way - didn’t feel boring for a second.
It was a great opportunity to see the “non-mainstream” part of Rome, something very special about this beautiful city. Definitely recommend this tour.

Expensive for what it is. The tour group was split; so some of the tour was spent waiting around while the guide gave some of the tour to each group separately. We also shared the bus with another tour group and they were given extra info that our group was not.

We just completed this tour yesterday. Out of the several tours we did the last few weeks, this was the most disappointing. I very rarely give such negative reviews but I felt I have to this time. Ill start with the catacombs, basilica, and crypts are pretty cool and I’m glad we got to walk through them. However to begin, the company states that this is a small group tour of less than twenty. We had a 60 person group and they gave us 3 guides and we were supposed to split into smaller groups, this really didn’t happen. We mostly ended up sticking with the other groups which tremendously effected the amount of information we got at each site. Our tour guide seemed to know little about the stops on the tour and spent most of her time talking to another female tour guide in Italian so of course we could understand very little. There are no headsets on this tour either and that was frustrating because unless you were in the front you couldn’t hear much of the little that she was saying. Also getting off the bus there were several times they left and began crossing several streets before everyone was off the bus. All the guides were mainly in the front and often times left several people behind and didn’t even really take inventory to check if everyone was coming. Towards the end of the tour about 10 people were falling so far behind I finally had to tell one of the guides to check on them as I feared they would get lost. (Which she turned around and went back kindly) The thing that upset me about this the most is that the guide was scrolling in her phone and the other two were so far ahead so no one was paying attention. Another annoying thing was that the guides has flashlights through the catacombs. Most guides had accidentally several times flashed people in the face and apologized, however our tour guide continued to do it without paying attention to the group around her. Since we got very little information from her and she didn’t wait for the entire group to explain things, it would have been nice to have a small flashlight ourselves to be able to look in each area ourselves to at least see it as most are dark and difficult to see. I would definitely see these areas again just not with this company and I would do a true “small” group tour. Our group was disappointed because we feel likes we have missed out on so much good information because our guide/guides. The only reason I’m giving 2/5 instead a 1/5 is that the sites themselves would have been amazing with better guides. I’m glad the rest of our tours of Rome are not with city wonder.

We were very excited to see the places on this tour and we were not disappointed! Alain and Andrea were very informative and served as excellent guides through the sights and history of this tour. The meeting place was directly in front of our hotel which was most convenient. The tour started promptly and the bus was very comfortable. Our driver was an expert at maneuvering through the traffic clogged streets. The catacombs were very mysterious and seemed endless. The church we visited was magnificent and stepping down into the lower levels was like going back in time. The capuchin crypts are indescribable…so you’ll just have to go see for yourself! We love spooky things and haunted tours but this was just in a different vein of macabre! As we finished our tour, the rain came down so we ducked into a covered sidewalk trattoria with crystal chandeliers across the street from the crypts and had a great bottle of wine and an amazing dinner. It was a very lovely way to spend our first full day in Roma.

Hi! I booked this tour but have not received a confirmation email. I am worried incase I have made a mistake on the email, I didn't sign up before booking but the payment is pre approved on my credit card. I have tried ringing the number but with no luck. I am ringing from Ireland, how can I contact you? Please respond ASAP as I do not want to rebook the tour if I have already paid for one.

Hi, Have you tried emailing them? bookings dot changes...(see their site for this email add as i can't seem to include it here)
I booked directly through their website so didn't have any issue with receiving the confirmation voucher.
Alternatively, if the tour was booked very recently, could the bank / credit card company see if they can void the transaction so you've time to figure out next steps?
The confirmation email should arrive within the day or two if you book directly with them. Not sure about third party sites. And booking directly doesn't require signing up unless you want to use their first-time-user discount.

Does the KN95 mask meet the criteria for this tour or is the FFP2 the only accepted mask in Italy?
Written July 9, 2022
Yes, we went in November The main issue that we noticed was that there was not any cloth mask. Many people used the KN95 mask. Have a wonderful time.
Written July 11, 2022
What are the covid-19 access to the tour requirements? I understand that from 1 May a green pass no longer required nationally. Please advise.

Inside the catacombs you need to wear a mask too as well as museums.

How many people in this tour?
Written February 4, 2021
How much in advance do you have to book this? Doing the Vatican in the morning and not sure if we will do this that day or the next, so how far out do you have to book?
Written February 12, 2020
It can sell out so I would recommend making the decision at least a day ahead. This tour meets at a piazza, then buses you out to the entrance to the crypts that you will tour. I don't think there's any mechanism for them to take walk up's, you need to arrange it ahead of time.
