But then I don't like pasta
It was like stepping back in time. Having seen the film BrotherSon Sister Moon a long time ago, I was keen to experience the place for myself. Perhaps more of an emphasis on the philosophy Saint Francis stood for would have been good. The young guide was great and the lady who took us around. Perhaps its fair to say that its a long day - 7.15 start and due to heavy traffic around 8.30 back. The lunch was fair but then I don't like pasta, opportunities to socialise and meet lots of interesting people from different parts of the world!

Lots to see and some amazing views of the surrounding countryside.
Orvieto had a funicular and an escalator to help ascend to the top, though there were still some steps and inclines that need to be navigated. The Duomo was large and beautiful. In Assisi, there are many churches and structures to visit, but lots of steps and relatively steep inclines to navigate. The streets can get very slippery when wet. I brought my trekking poles and I was so glad I did. Both spots have amazing views of the surrounding countryside where you will see vineyards and olive trees and beautiful rolling hills.

      Assisi and Orvieto , Italy
Great trip to both. The history and spirituality of Assisi if that is your direction is second to none. I j earned much about Saint Francis and what he was about. Truly incredible. Even endorsing a female order. Oviedo was a unique town with much history, friendly people and amazing history. I will definitely go back to both.

Beautiful cities! Lunch was great. This was a great way to see Assisi and Orvieto while staying in Rome. Long day but stops were breathtaking.

      Beautiful tour
This was one of the best tours. Make sure you go early because the crowds can be a bit much. Orvieto is one a the best kept secrets. Assisi is full of history and also a beautiful setting

      Missed opportunity
Sadly, the bus was 2 hrs+ late. Was told there was a fire delaying drivers route. Either way it affected the trip. Was told we’d get free wine with lunch which true but didn’t compensate for missed time in Orvieto. When we arrived at this town we’re told we had 20 minutes. That was only enough time to see the church. I’m Assisi was given a two hr tour which was interesting but had less than .5 hr to spend on our own. So if one wants to really visit these towns this won’t work for you. On the flip side, the escorts were nice enough and while waiting met other interesting travelers that helped pass the time.

      Very average tour.
So much potential, so many issues. When visiting a new city, I love to see it by night on my first day so see it from a different perspective, enjoy the lights and do some scouting as to where I’ll spend my time the next couple of days. We booked this tour which departed on time from Roma Termini, although the indications are not super clear as to where to catch the bus. We headed to Eataly where we had about an hour to spend. Plan to either shop or eat but doing both is unrealistic based on time of day (most counters are closed) and time allowed. We then proceeded to the night tour. Could we view some sites at night and enjoy it? Absolutely. Is the bus comfortable? Decently although there was a “plastic” rooftop which did not give the full feel of being on a double-decker. Did we understand what we were looking at? Not at all. Most of the audio commentary did not match the route and we were told to “look at our right” but there was nothing to look at and it was confusing more than anything else. We got the 15euro deal from their site and therefore I was not that disappointed in the average experience but I have had much better experiences than this one.

      Beautiful Island of Capri
I had an amazing experience in Capri. The lunch was delicious and the service was great. I took the tram up to the restaurant and the view was amazing from higher up. The boat tour takes one hour from Naples to reach Capri and is very relaxing. The water color was like nothing I have ever seen before from dark blue to aqua blue to green. I took a boat cruise around the island and had a blast. This was a great tour on my last full day in Italy.

      Beautiful towns and scenery
Orvieto and Assisi are beautiful and it made for a great day despite the rainy day. Regarding the tour, we had reserved a Spanish tour, the tour escort Jenny was very pleasant and nice but spoke no Spanish and her English was very limited and hard to understand. She spent the whole day including lunch talking to the bus driver non-stop (almost felt like white noise in the background). It would’ve been nice to have her point out some of the beautiful scenery and towns that we went by during the ride. We had no information on Orvieto and seems that she was not familiar with the itinerary because we asked about a monument and she didn’t know what it was. Our guide in Assisi was very good but she rushed through the visit taking us at a very fast pace through everything even though we had an extra hour of free time. The lunch was ok even though didn’t even include water. The farm was nice and rustic but probably not worth the extra time to get there especially since we didn’t know what was special about it.

      Get away!!!
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, I purchased three 3 Pass tickets at a newsstand on one of the streets in the Vatican area. The saleswoman spoke in English and explained that there are bus tours at 18:00, 18:30, and the last one at 19:00. I explained to her that we would be able to arrive around the final round. When I asked how long the round would take to the station from which we boarded, she answered (in clear English) that the round is at 19:00 and ends around 21:00 and at the same point where we'll wait for the bus. We purchased the tickets from her around 5:00 p.m. Since the seller closes the store at 18:00, we will no longer be in the area to buy. That day at 18:50, we waited at the station after the bridge over the river from the Vatican area and remained until 19:05, when no bus passed, and we started to go back. Suddenly, the bus appeared, and we ran back to the station. When we got on, the woman on the bus explained that the bus only travels 2-3 stops and not a round trip! We explained to her what we were told. She took a picture of the ticket at 19:15 (that's when she took a picture and not that we got on the bus late; later, we claimed that it was the time we got on the bus "late"). She directed us to the store where we bought it to get a refund for the tickets since we didn't use the tickets and gave us information Erroneous! I asked the woman several times if we would get a refund, and she said of course because we didn't use the cards. We ran to the newsstand on Friday morning before leaving for the airport. We explained the matter to the saleswoman, suddenly, she didn't speak English at all and didn't want to try to understand us only after she realized we weren't going late. It was essential for us to understand what happened. She called someone from the bus company, and I explained to the woman from the company what happened and asked to speak to the seller again. At the end of the conversation, the seller shouted at us: "No! No!" The ticket back, she suddenly spoke in English and said it was hers, but agreed to return the tickets when I insisted and explained to her that I paid and did not get the money back. I wrote an email to the company, but they haven't responded or answered for over a week!

      Horrible experience
Worst hop -on hop-off tour that I have ever experienced. The audio was very poor quality and almost impossible to understand. It was difficult to get a good view of the sites we were passing. The bus was old and uncomfortable to ride in. It is not air conditioned and there was very little air flow. There were few buses available to hop onto and the schedule was confusing and ended early in the evening. A complete waste of time and money!

      Do not waste your money!
I paid for 8 tickets for the hop on and hop off bus in Rome. We were told the buses ran til 9pm. We literally rode the bus for 15 minutes then found out the buses stopped at 7:15pm. Total waste of money and worst service ever- company does not even have the courtesy to respond to my emails.

      Meeting Pope Francis
We had an excellent guide! He was fluent in a number of different languages. He had a great sense of humor and his timing was fabulous. We were able to see the Pope and hear him very well. Although there were thousands of people in the audience our guide helped us to great seats. From where he seated us we were able to get very good photos and videos. We would highly recommend this trip! ❤️

      Found best spot for pictures
Our guide placed us in the perfect spot for pictures of the pope. Relatively little commentary, and the audience tickets are free, but getting us through the crowded entrances to the right spot was worth the price.

This lovely place should have had a better tour guide. Our guide arrived late The group arrived there at 730-745am and our Guide got there at 7:55am and the Green line tours office never opened. The man from the Green line finally arrived at 8:20am to get us our bus.The most discouraging problem was our guide had to speak in 4 different languages and he didnt have a mastery of any language. The infohe gave was confusing and very basic

What promised to be a highlight of our visit to Rome turned into a huge disappointment
1)the tour is ambiguously billed as English and multilingual. The English portion was difficult to understand as the guide had a pronounced Italian accent.
    2) the guide did not make it clear that our first stop at "Adriana's" villa was in fact also the entry to Hadrian's villa. Neither my wife or I realised were were in fact at Hadrian's villa which is what we most wanted to see.
    3) the intial entry to ths villa invloved a steep climb up a hill which the guide led at a rapid pace without any regard to the limited ability of several members of the group including ourselves who could only walk slowly. We had to abandon this segment of the tourl bcause we could not keep up. the guide was totally unaware we had done so, thereby missing the main highlight for us.
    4) there is no indication in the tour description of strenous walking up hills and up and down many steps. Once again we had to abndon the second major stop at Villa Este for the same reason.
The guide did not seem to care.
Warning . Do not take this tour if you have any limitations in your walking and climbing.

It turned out to be a major disappointment for us and a wasted day and money

Ridiculously short times at both sites. Commentary by the male guide added little and I would suggest Wikipedia research before the trip is far more worthwhile.

We booked to go with Greenline Tours (the meeting point, Via Cavour, is easy to find right by Termini Station and there are lots of reasonable restaurants around there so we had lunch before we boarded the coach at 2.30pm). We had a great half-day tour. It was hot in Rome and very busy so a half day up in the peaceful hills with a cool breeze at two different but fascinating destinations was just what we needed. The coach was comfortable, the audio guides worked perfectly and our guide was helpful, knowledgable and she couldn't do enough to make sure our time on the tour was well spent, packed with interest and included time for rest and refreshments. Thank you to Greenline for a great outing during our holiday to Rome - we will definitely book with you again.

We booked a half day tour from Rome. The guide was a nice lady but she didn't go out of her way to explain anything. She just gave a few sentences here and there and basically was just an escort. The time allowed to travel to Tivoli and to view these two sites was not enough for the price of the trip. We saw Hadrian's villa first, and basically just the entrance and the fountain area, we didn't see anything else and she didn't give much on the history.

Then we walked way back to the bus and went to Villa d'Este. Whereby she explained on the bus about the Villa a few sentences, when we arrived at the venue she bought tickets and told us to meet her back at the entrance when we were done. There was only 45 minutes allowed here which was barely a drop in the bucket because there is a whole house where the living quarters were, I couldn't tell you anything about it because she didn't explain much. The fountains and gardens are all way down below many sets of stairs so navigation here requires much more than 45 minutes--plus other tour guides were with their travelers explaining the interior of the house and then went down to the gardens with them giving commentary as they went along. I expected a full explanation, not just a bus ride and host.

I got nothing out of these visits except just to see the sites in a hurry. It's a shame because going to the other part of the world cost money and time and the fact that we went here and it was not a completed task leaves a bad taste. They really need to get a better guide and revamp this tour to either separate the two or to make it a longer visit so that there is time to enjoy the sites and to understand what went on there historically.

Really enjoyed seeing Villa d'Este - its an amazing place. If you love fountains, this is the place to go - over a hundred of them.

Beautiful area and nice bus trip. Hadrian's Villa which is a short distance away were nice ruins to visit.

I don't think I would take another trip with Greenline. I booked on Viator so didn't know who the guide company was. Our guides were just average. They gave tour in 3 languages which was OK but compared to other tours we took this trip, we thought the guides were just average where other guides we have had were excellent.

This was our fifth trip to Rome, so we were looking for something new to do. After a comfortable bus ride, we were introduced to the two villas by the most knowledgeable, interesting, approachable guide we have ever encountered! Her name is Larissa. Not only did she bring history alive, but she made sure that we were comfortable, on time, and that we saw everything from the best vantage points. We booked through Viator.
