Overview

To truly comprehend a city’s food culture and track down its hidden gems takes local knowledge: and your local foodie guide has this in spades. On this Rome food walking tour, they'll lead you through the historic Trastevere neighborhood, connecting you to producers, vendors, and restaurateurs as you taste wine and sample food. Choose between morning and afternoon tours to suit your schedule.

What to Expect

Greet your guide and small group on Isola Tiberina and stroll through the characterful Trastevere neighborhood, with its medieval architecture and narrow lanes. Learn how Rome’s culinary traditions and culture intersect as you meet, greet, and taste.

Along the way, sample local cheeses in the maker’s store, street food in the Jewish Ghetto, dessert in a family-run cookie factory, and pastas in a historic inn. Taste regional wines, try the best gelato in Rome, and learn the difference between artisan gelato and ice cream: On weekend mornings, visit a local farmers' market too.

Your tour concludes in Trastevere, where your guide will be happy to arrange a taxi or direct you to the most convenient public transport.

This tour was recommended by a food editor friend, and it didnt disappoint. For about the same price you're travelling with a much smaller group (our group has 4 people; I believe the max is 8). Other food tour groups are 10+, a bit too...More
