Pompeii is a cool place to explore
This tour was amazing. The archeologist explained many aspects about the life of the citizens of Pompeii in great detail, and this was an interesting tour. Pompeii has really cool ruins and the graphic design of inside the buildings is great.

Great guide for two hour tour
Julia was a great tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Pompeii and had a wonderful Italian accent. It was extremely hot and she did her best to keep us in the shade. We only took a two hour tour which was just the right amount of time since you can explore on your own after the tour.

    Fantastic experience
Marilyn was excellent tour guide. She made the trip very interesting with all the stories she shared. She also made sure we had some shade while we was listening to her.

Knowledgeable and entertaining guide provided an understanding of what life in Pompeii was like before the eruption
Paolo was informative and entertaining and really brought the experience to life. The tour gave context to the site and enabled us to continue exploring afterwards with the tips we were given at the end of the tour. Highly recommended!

    Great tour!
Great tour. Diego was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions. He is clearly very passionate about archaeology and Pompeii! Meeting point was easy to find and we were provided with all the information we needed the night before. We were a small group of 7 which was great.

    Spectacular and emotional
Our guide Giulia was passionate and full of energy despite the weather being so incredibly hot that day. We highly recommend Askos tours as they were very prompt and friendly. I do believe we got lucky that we had Giulia as our guide, we cannot be more grateful and happy with the experience we were given. ☺️

Great guide and tour of Pompeii
Paulo with Askos tours did a wonderful job showing us Pompeii. He helped us navigate away from the crowds, find water, and shade. He was very knowledgeable of the history, culture, and people. We picked a 2 hour tour, but Paulo provided us with maps so we could explore more on our own. It was hot, but was expected for July. I also appreciated all the communication from Askos tours to make sure we had all information needed to be in the right place.

Great guided tour with a real archeologist!
Excellent guided walking tour of the highlights of Pompeii. Highly recommended. The guide, Sergio, was a real archeologist, knowledgable, and enthusiastic. Well worth the tour price rather than just doing it self guided.

    Great overview of the ruins!
Our guide Sergio made the crowded hot beautiful ruins a lot more manageable. It was a really interesting tour, and our guide answered any questions very well. Starting our visit with a guide definitely helped!

    Luciano is the best!
Luciano kept us captivated throughout the tour with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He also pointed out some features easy to miss and preserved in the thick mud. Fantastic day and will definitely come back out of season when it is cooler to spend more time exploring this historical site.

    First time visit
Excellent organisation and very insightful tour. We had been recommended to take such a tour and it certainly makes the most of your time. The 2 hours get you through most of the principal sites and our tour guide Vincenzo (pictured in action) was able to add valuable context with nice humour. Going earlier in the day also allows time to explore the further afield sites. Our guide was able to direct us how to best spend this time.

    Wonderful tour and driver!
What a fantastic day spent with our tour guide Giovanni! He was easy to spot once we got off the cruise ship. We had a semi private tour for our family of five and two other people. We started off with the drive to Positano for some picture postcard views. We continued on to Sorrento where we had some free time to explore. Could have spent a ton more time there but a good reason to plan a trip back. After that, we made our way back to Pompeii, but before then we wanted a place to have lunch and Giovanni recommended a great little out-of-the-way restaurant at the locals frequent. The food did not disappoint! After lunch, we hit Pompeii. It was hot! Giovanni was waiting for us after our tour right where he said he would be with the air conditioning on in the van! You could tell that Giovanni had a passion for his job and for the city in which he calls home. It was such a wonderful day. Thank you to Giovanni For sharing his knowledge and stories during our drive.

We were fortunate enough to have Antonio as our tour guide, and we could not have asked for a better guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. The Askos staff who greeted us at the gate were also wonderful. Antonio is incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the history of Pompeii and Herculaneum. He is also funny and patient and is the best kind of your guide you can ask for. I highly recommend doing both as you can then see the differences between the two sites – Herculaneum is also less crowded and has more beautiful mosaics. Antonio taught us so much about how the people lived, their history, and the culture at the time. We walked away amazed and in awe. We can’t recommend this enough!

The highlight of my visit to this part of Italy was to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum. Selected a tour (a) for more in depth information on the two places and (b) wanted to avoid huge queues (which actually was not the case). The tour itself was very expensive Euro 99, bearing in mind the cost to enter Pompeii was Euro 16, Herculaneum Euro 13 and the train ticket from Pompeii to Herculaneum Euro 2.20. However, our tour guide Sergio was excellent, providing so much interesting information and anecdotes. He was also very enthusiastic and clearly enjoyed what he was doing.

Herculaneum is more compact than Pompeii and we only scratched the surface of the latter, but a return trip to Pompeii will be on the cards in the future.

Tour guide (Michael) was very knowledgeable but spoke very rapidly. He gave us a lot of interesting info but it was hard to take it in because he spoke so rapidly and you could tell he had given the tour many times before. But the biggest thing that could be done to improve the quality of the tour would be to upgrade the headsets. They were hard to keep in place and made listening that much more difficult.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and really enriched our experience. He kept us moving made sure we saw as many details as possible. Advance communication about getting to the the meeting location and a train strike that day was incredibly helpful. The only drawback was we only ended up with about 30 minutes for lunch, and it was hard to find food in that time. Would recommend packing a lunch

I think combining the two tours is exactly the right thing to do as long as you can cope with being on your feet for 6 hours. Getting the train to Pompei is the easiest way to get there and the meeting point is 50m from the station. Train Tickets were cheap. There are places to enjoy a quick snack before and during the tour. We came at the right time of year as the places were not too busy and the weather was perfect for walking around. Probably challenging in the summertime.
As for Michele Maria Lamberti, I think he is actually a time traveller and lived in both places just before the eruption as he was so knowledgeable and passionate about the two places, that this can be the only explanation. I’ve been on many tours around the world and this is by far the best one ( well organised and made perfect by Michele). I’ve never met someone which could keep going and keep their audience so interested. My wife had waited 40 years to get here (since a school trip was cancelled) and Michele made the trip much more special. Thank you Askos & Michele.

This tour was excellent, Pompeii is huge and it would have been really boring without a guide. He expertly kept us away from the really crowded areas (eg the bath house at Pompeii is really crowded so he showed us a better preserved bathhouse at Herculaneum instead). The archaeological knowledge made the tour really interesting and brought the ruins to life, and our guide was obviously extremely knowledgeable. 10/10

Very informative guide , Micheal really knew his stuff , he was a real professional, we learnt so much . The group was a group of 20 and Pompei was very busy , but It was easy to hear and connect to Michael as we had ear sets , so we could hear the commentary even if we weren’t next to him . Very impressed with this tour and Michaels in depth knowledge and interest , we felt privileged to have been on his tour

Obviously am amazingly interesting place to visit. I would certainly recommend doing this tour as you get two hours guided around Pompeii by an experienced guide and then two hours at Herculilum.
It isn't cheap but it isn't going to be cheap - it's Pompeii.
Easy enough to get there and back on the train from Naples.

Today my husband and I and our 12 year old son went on this tour and not only was Sergio’s voice clear and understandable, his English was the best we’ve heard and his knowledge and ability to describe everything we saw, with passion, was incredible. He is by far the most talented tour guide we’ve had since we’ve been in Italy. I totally recommend him for anyone wanting an in-depth and clear understanding of Pompeii and the Herculum. His tour should not be missed!

Diego was incredible! It was a solid 5 and half hours of enthusiasm, passion, knowledge and explanation.

Clearly it is helped by the fact that both sites are incredible, but Diego did a fantastic jobs of navigating around other groups, getting to all the key sites and also bringing to life what a world 2000 years ago would have been like.

So pleased we booked this tour, could not recommend more highly!
