Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- mayccm20180 contributionsSpecial experiencesThe guide in Pompeii was very professional and knowledgeable. She led us to realize the history of Pompeii. The guide in Vesuvius was well prepared and was willing to answer our questions. The guide in the whole trip was very helpful. Plentiful and tasty lunch. However, we had inadequate time to explore Vesuvius and path was difficult to walk.Written October 19, 2024
- Sandra M0 contributionsAssisiThe air was so so fresh! Country side just peaceful and romantic, I could imagine perfect place for couples to have a very peaceful romantic time. For people into religion / history the Basilica of Saint Francis is wonderful. Architecture is incredible breathtaking scenery. Why not a few days staying in a nice hotel amazing .Written October 9, 2024
- Louise T0 contributionsGoodGreat guided tour of Assisi. Plenty of your own time in Orvieto. Lunch was good, but was a little rushed, but it is a big day trip. Need some level of fitness as Assisi is not on flat ground.Written September 25, 2024
- Nora M0 contributionsLoved Assisi and OrvietoThe trip was very nice. We stopped in Orvieto first. It was a great experience to get in the funicular to access the town. Visited the Dome and walked around town. It is a beautiful place. Afterward, we went to Assisi, where a very experienced guide, M. Casanova took us through the most important places there. She is so good at her work. The explanation was very detailed and answered all our questions.Written August 30, 2024
- 816garethp0 contributionsBut then I don't like pastaIt was like stepping back in time. Having seen the film BrotherSon Sister Moon a long time ago, I was keen to experience the place for myself. Perhaps more of an emphasis on the philosophy Saint Francis stood for would have been good. The young guide was great and the lady who took us around. Perhaps its fair to say that its a long day - 7.15 start and due to heavy traffic around 8.30 back. The lunch was fair but then I don't like pasta, opportunities to socialise and meet lots of interesting people from different parts of the world!Written July 8, 2024
- engemaal0 contributionsLots to see and some amazing views of the surrounding countryside.Orvieto had a funicular and an escalator to help ascend to the top, though there were still some steps and inclines that need to be navigated. The Duomo was large and beautiful. In Assisi, there are many churches and structures to visit, but lots of steps and relatively steep inclines to navigate. The streets can get very slippery when wet. I brought my trekking poles and I was so glad I did. Both spots have amazing views of the surrounding countryside where you will see vineyards and olive trees and beautiful rolling hills.Written July 2, 2024
- StanbPa0 contributionsAssisi and Orvieto , ItalyGreat trip to both. The history and spirituality of Assisi if that is your direction is second to none. I j earned much about Saint Francis and what he was about. Truly incredible. Even endorsing a female order. Oviedo was a unique town with much history, friendly people and amazing history. I will definitely go back to both.Written June 14, 2024

- 706judyj0 contributionsThe worst guide for such a lovely place. I wish I could have gotten better info, his English& Spanish was terribleThis lovely place should have had a better tour guide. Our guide arrived late The group arrived there at 730-745am and our Guide got there at 7:55am and the Green line tours office never opened. The man from the Green line finally arrived at 8:20am to get us our bus.The most discouraging problem was our guide had to speak in 4 different languages and he didnt have a mastery of any language. The infohe gave was confusing and very basicWritten October 30, 2023
- 46pattyo0 contributionsMissed opportunitySadly, the bus was 2 hrs+ late. Was told there was a fire delaying drivers route. Either way it affected the trip. Was told we’d get free wine with lunch which true but didn’t compensate for missed time in Orvieto. When we arrived at this town we’re told we had 20 minutes. That was only enough time to see the church. I’m Assisi was given a two hr tour which was interesting but had less than .5 hr to spend on our own. So if one wants to really visit these towns this won’t work for you. On the flip side, the escorts were nice enough and while waiting met other interesting travelers that helped pass the time.Written October 27, 2023
- Jade C0 contributionsVery average tour.So much potential, so many issues. When visiting a new city, I love to see it by night on my first day so see it from a different perspective, enjoy the lights and do some scouting as to where I’ll spend my time the next couple of days. We booked this tour which departed on time from Roma Termini, although the indications are not super clear as to where to catch the bus. We headed to Eataly where we had about an hour to spend. Plan to either shop or eat but doing both is unrealistic based on time of day (most counters are closed) and time allowed. We then proceeded to the night tour. Could we view some sites at night and enjoy it? Absolutely. Is the bus comfortable? Decently although there was a “plastic” rooftop which did not give the full feel of being on a double-decker. Did we understand what we were looking at? Not at all. Most of the audio commentary did not match the route and we were told to “look at our right” but there was nothing to look at and it was confusing more than anything else. We got the 15euro deal from their site and therefore I was not that disappointed in the average experience but I have had much better experiences than this one.Written October 9, 2023
- 424kent0 contributionsBeautiful Island of CapriI had an amazing experience in Capri. The lunch was delicious and the service was great. I took the tram up to the restaurant and the view was amazing from higher up. The boat tour takes one hour from Naples to reach Capri and is very relaxing. The water color was like nothing I have ever seen before from dark blue to aqua blue to green. I took a boat cruise around the island and had a blast. This was a great tour on my last full day in Italy.Written September 25, 2023
- ceciliaru0 contributionsBeautiful towns and sceneryOrvieto and Assisi are beautiful and it made for a great day despite the rainy day. Regarding the tour, we had reserved a Spanish tour, the tour escort Jenny was very pleasant and nice but spoke no Spanish and her English was very limited and hard to understand. She spent the whole day including lunch talking to the bus driver non-stop (almost felt like white noise in the background). It would’ve been nice to have her point out some of the beautiful scenery and towns that we went by during the ride. We had no information on Orvieto and seems that she was not familiar with the itinerary because we asked about a monument and she didn’t know what it was. Our guide in Assisi was very good but she rushed through the visit taking us at a very fast pace through everything even though we had an extra hour of free time. The lunch was ok even though didn’t even include water. The farm was nice and rustic but probably not worth the extra time to get there especially since we didn’t know what was special about it.Written August 31, 2023
- Lital6Sh0 contributionsGet away!!!On Thursday, August 17, 2023, I purchased three 3 Pass tickets at a newsstand on one of the streets in the Vatican area. The saleswoman spoke in English and explained that there are bus tours at 18:00, 18:30, and the last one at 19:00. I explained to her that we would be able to arrive around the final round. When I asked how long the round would take to the station from which we boarded, she answered (in clear English) that the round is at 19:00 and ends around 21:00 and at the same point where we'll wait for the bus. We purchased the tickets from her around 5:00 p.m. Since the seller closes the store at 18:00, we will no longer be in the area to buy. That day at 18:50, we waited at the station after the bridge over the river from the Vatican area and remained until 19:05, when no bus passed, and we started to go back. Suddenly, the bus appeared, and we ran back to the station. When we got on, the woman on the bus explained that the bus only travels 2-3 stops and not a round trip! We explained to her what we were told. She took a picture of the ticket at 19:15 (that's when she took a picture and not that we got on the bus late; later, we claimed that it was the time we got on the bus "late"). She directed us to the store where we bought it to get a refund for the tickets since we didn't use the tickets and gave us information Erroneous! I asked the woman several times if we would get a refund, and she said of course because we didn't use the cards. We ran to the newsstand on Friday morning before leaving for the airport. We explained the matter to the saleswoman, suddenly, she didn't speak English at all and didn't want to try to understand us only after she realized we weren't going late. It was essential for us to understand what happened. She called someone from the bus company, and I explained to the woman from the company what happened and asked to speak to the seller again. At the end of the conversation, the seller shouted at us: "No! No!" The ticket back, she suddenly spoke in English and said it was hers, but agreed to return the tickets when I insisted and explained to her that I paid and did not get the money back. I wrote an email to the company, but they haven't responded or answered for over a week!Written August 27, 2023

This was absolutely the worst tour I've taken. It was supposed to be bilingual, but it was very clear the guide was more comfortable speaking Spanish because only about 20 percent of the tour was in English. So we were just wondering around looking at stuff but had no idea what we were looking at. And they made us stop for what seemed like forever at a store just for shopping. Don't waste your time or money on this. It was my least favorite day on our trip.

This was our 2nd trip to Rome so we decided to see Pompeii this time. We paid over 300 Euros for both of us. The driver picked us up at hotel at 6:30am and dropped is off by 6:50am at Green line office for a 7:30am departure. So far so good. Marina, our main tour guide on the bus had an annoying voice, difficult to understand at times. Luckily the scenery was beautiful. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch. It was average at best, but multiple courses. The grilled swordfish was fishy-not fresh. We left from inside restaurant to go smoke a cigarette, walking around to back parking lot near bus, which we thought we were going to board to get to Pompeii. There were still people eating their dessert when we left. We had 1 cigarette, and saw no one coming (5 min), so we walked back around (1 min) and the group was GONE. Imagine our HORROR being stranded. Thankfully, the restaurant people were so helpful and called the tour guide. The restaurant person walked us over to where the group was waiting for admission to Pompeii. My reason for the poor review: the tour guide, Marina, was RUDE! They waited less than 5 minutes for us near the entrance, AND besides, they should have taken a head count. Instead of saying sorry we left without you or even just glad you made it OK...she was rude and insulting, stormed off to leave us with secondary guide, Guido. Although the tour of Pompeii was lovely, my husband and I felt Guido could have at least tried to smooth things over or offer an apology. I repeated multiple times we DID NOT HAVE A MEETING POINT after dinner and we were right next to the bus. Marina insisted she told us....If she did, we would have been there. Who would purposefully lose the group?? Obviously, she did not communicate clearly. The multiple drop offs at end of tour were chaotic. They dropped people off at various points and the whole thing felt rushed. Marina even yelling at one point for passengers not getting off at their stop. I mean really??? You are in a foreign place, and unsure. She was obviously NOT being clear w her communication. On the whole, the trip was not worth the money. We will never use Green line again when traveling to Rome.

We went on a bilingual tour, paid 120 euro per person. We felt like the whole point of the trip is to get even more money. So, first, we went to Naples and only had 15 minutes on the shore for pictures. After that they do a quick tour on the bus on the center of naples. So, I just feel like I didn't know Naples properly. After that they went closer to the vesuvio... To stop at a handicraft shop. (They sold some overpriced shell and murano glass Jewelry). After that they stop at a restaurant in pompeii so we can't eat the lunch included in the package. The lunch wasn't even that good and they didn't include drinks, we had to pay for them. Also, there was a guy singing and playing a guitar too loudly and kinda ruined the lunch as well, and he went on the tables waiting for a tip, made us uncomfortable. After that no free time to explore, we went straight to the excavation site in pompeii. The tour was horrible, we couldn't listen to the guide well, he is called Mr Ferdinando. He, at the end of the tour, kept hinting about tipping him, it was very uncomfortable. After that only 15 minutes to explore and go to the toilet and we went back to rome.
At the end we made a stop at a convenience store forcing us to buy limoncello, that was more expensive that the ones in Rome.
Honestly, when you go to a tour like that, even more when this expensive, you don't expect it to be this bad and demand you that much extra money.
For comparison, we went on a tour for 80 euro in firenze we had 50 minutes free on Siena, 1:30 hour in San giminiano and 50 minutes in pizza. The guide was way better, they didn't try to extort more money from us and the lunch was one of the best pasta we ever had and the lunch included salami and free unrestricted 4 types of wine.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR.

The guide forced everyone to get off the bus to the tourist trap spots (cameo shop) and souvenir shop. The sword fish was not fresh at all. Lots of people could not finish the meal. In Pompeii, the local guide spoke 2 languages and couldn't make both good. We felt so bored and it rained all day. At the end, we have to wait for another groups of tourists from Capri island for another 45 mins. We ended up coming back to Rome at 8.45pm. IT was horrible and the tour forced tourists to get off the bus to buy somethings at the shops. Commission is a big thing in this tour. The fee for the tour was not cheap as well.

We took this tour 3 weeks ago when we were on vacation in Rome. As far as the tour, great places and sights to see. I finally got a taste of REAL pizza napoletana in Naples! The bus ride was perfect and took rush hour Rome traffic off our shoulders. The guide from Green Line was great, but things went down hill a bit when we switched to a local guide in Naples. When she found out we were American, she became very rude and disrespectful! Our tour was for English/Spanish speakers and she did warm up a little when she found I spoke Spanish. However, my wife does not speak Spanish and that guide spoke mostly Spanish for the rest of the tour! The lunch and tour through downtown Naples was very nice but would have been better if our guide from Rome conducted it. She spoke Italian, Spanish, and English very well. She also had a warm personality and was very patient with us. With the exception of the local guide in Naples, I enjoyed this tour. Not sure I can recommend it because there is no guarantee of what local guide you end up with in Naples and Pompeii

We were with them for 13 hours and only got 1 3/4 hours in Pompeii! Wasted time taking us to a shell-jewelry factory that wasn't on the itinerary when we booked the trip, and fed us a bad lunch at a restaurant in the town of Pompeii. Also, asked for an English tour but were put on an English/Spanish tour, so the guide spent half the time in Pompeii (and elsewhere) speaking a language we didn't understand. Our fault for not ensuring adequate time in Pompeii and an English-only tour when booking. We'd recommend using someone else.

The day tour of Pompeii from Rome included a stop at a coral factory in Torre del Greco. It was a totally useless stop. The coral decorations and jewellery were overpriced and nobody on the tour bought anything. There was a 3-course lunch provided at a small restaurant a couple of hundred meters away from the main entrance to Pompeii. It was not good at all. The coach simply drove through the city of Naples while the guide pointed out landmarks along the way. We didn't get a chance to get down from the bus at the major landmarks in Naples. I would rather that the tour operator dropped us in downtown Naples for an hour where we can get our own lunch rather than rushing through Naples, visiting the coral factory and having lunch at an uninspiring restaurant.
Having said that the visit to Pompeii was fantastic. The guide was knowledgeable, spoke 3 languages - English, Spanish and French as there were French and Spanish tourists on the tour.

We booked this tour based on good reviews and a decent cost compared to others. The bus rides were fine, the second stop however to the Grecco seemed unnecessary and unwanted. No one stayed inside all 30 minutes. It was a waste of time. The lunch was awful. The food was terrible. When we finally got into the ruins (after 1) it was fine. The guide was so hard to hear with the audio thing, and had such a heavy accent it was hard to understand for it being an English tour. I’ve done other tours with Viator and it was much better. Our trip would’ve been better off with a ride there on our own, a lunch we picked ourselves, and a self guided tour. Don’t recommend

Hi U3331RVashleyb,
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a rating and are sorry we did not meet your expectations. Please help us understand what we can do to improve. Witch tour did you take? Usually, during guided tours, our guides give you customers some audio guide where they can listen to their life story. Talk about your visit to Pompeii or another tour because it is not really very clear in your comment.
Thank you.

I chose this tour as it seemed to highlight the experience at Pompeii. I was disappointed as you only spend 2 hours in Pompeii seeing the "highlights" as chosen by the tour guide, as she didnt have enough time to see it all. The tour was also bilingual so she would spend time explaining in English and then in Italian, which basically meant that you only got half of this 2 hours as well. I would have preferred to shorten lunch time, (hint: order the vegetarian so you get the pizza only as the only food was not nice), not go to the shell shop and spend more time in Pompeii itself. I was expecting this to be Pompeii, not everything but!.

This is an ambiguous review since in the end the reason I’ve booked the English speaking tour which was the Pompeii tour was quite enjoyable and very informative. But the route was not so great so here is the deal:
What worked well:
Tour in the city of Pompeii great guide spoke only in English.
What didn’t work well:
1. If you book a tour in English it doesn’t mean that the bus will be with Spanish and German speakers. Everything had to be translated for two or three languages what was irritating to say the least (Except for the Pompeii tour as I mentioned above).
2. If you book a tour to Naples and Pompeii is not riding a bus through Naples busy streets. It is misleading to say the least.
3. As mentioned in Prior reviews stopping and wasting precious time at tourist traps is annoying and only for that the tour deserves a 1-star review.
So why 2-Stars?
Because Pompeii is a must, the guide was great it was a real Gem.
