About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- CPaM680 contributionsGreat experienceWe arrived at the Cantina Del Vesuvio Winery after touring Reggia di Caserta earlier that morning. We were ushered onto the front porch area of the villa with several other guest to wait for others to arrive who had scheduled the tour and lunch. I think they had been touring the ruins of nearby Pompeii. While we waited, we were served a bubbly rose which was extra delicious on a warm sunny day. After a short wait, a gentleman took our group of twenty to twenty-five people a short distance out into the vineyard and shared the history of the area and vineyard. Being right on the slopes of nearby Mount Vesuvius, I don't know why I was surprised when he pointed out the soil of the vineyard is nothing but black ash and crushed lava. He then took us into the winery itself and further explained the wine making process. They were actually bottling wine as we were there watching. Inside the winery, I realized it was a much larger operation than I expected when looking at the building from the outside. After touring the vineyard and winery, we proceeded upstairs to the roof of the villa where we were served our four-course lunch accompanied by four different type wines. The bread, served with their own olive oil (they also have an olive grove) and wine vinegar, was exceptional. The view from the rooftop restaurant is fabulous. On one side in the near distance is Mount Vesuvius while on the other is the beautifully blue Mediterranean Sea and the Bay of Naples. Before leaving, we had a chance to buy some wine to take with us. You won't find their wine in supermarkets or liquor stores in the United States, but you can order online directly from them. The food was great, the wine delicious, the service friendly, and the views amazing. What else can I say? Well, it was a little expensive…Written October 15, 2024
- david84460 contributionsAn average wine tasting and lunchLook, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Very run of the mill production line feeling where they gave you quick samples of each wine and a meal.Written October 9, 2024
- remcowarlicht0 contributionsMore lunch than wineThe tour in the vineyard was an absolute minimum. Very little about the local wine making process. The lunch was good, including the wines, but again very little information on the wines.Written October 2, 2024
- cmV5166HM0 contributionsWine tastingOur visit was to gain knowledge regarding the wine industry. The tour began with a brief though informative walk through the vineyard closest to the wine bar. We continued to the processing center then to the storage area for aging the wine. Afterwards we were treated to a wonderful wine tasting of the wines produced on site. This is an organic vineyard and generational family winery offering superior wines.Written October 1, 2024
- CAROLE C0 contributionsBeautiful viewWe had a wine tour at Cantina Del Vesuvio followed by a very good lunch with a wonderful view on Mount Vesuvius. The tour started with an excellent rosé. This was very relaxing after our 3 hour guided tour of the stunning archaeological site of Pompeii.Written September 22, 2024
- 627angied0 contributionsWonderful Wine & Food PairingWe enjoyed our wine tasting! We were pleasantly surprised that the pasta we ate was as delicious as the wine pairings. This was a wonderful treat after our Pompeii excursion.Written September 22, 2024

- jemimak1190 contributionsHighlight of the holiday10/10 would recommend. Incredible views over the coast and Vesuvius, with excellent food and wine. The winery tour at the start of the visit was fascinating and the whole trip was made extra special by the host, Carmine.Written August 29, 2024
- cameroncA1843DB0 contributionsGreat wine in an idyllic locationLovely location. Great food. Great wine and friendly staff. The tour could have been a little longer and more insight into the wine making process but the staff were happy for us to walk around and ask as many questions as we liked.Written August 25, 2024
- suecU4106OV0 contributionsLook Elsewhere for Winery Tour in NaplesWe were so excited for this wine tour but were disappointed. As a party of 8, it was not worth the money. The driver that came for us had no idea where he was taking us, spent over 2 hours of the "3 1/2 hour' time driving to and fro. Did not try any olive oils, and frankly the wine tastings were rushed, with very little explanation of what we were tasting. My glass wasn't even empty and they were pouring something else in. We spent maybe 10 minutes in the winery itself and this time of year nothing was actually in production. We reached out to the tour vendor and they insisted we were offered a tour of Naples to compensate for not touring Mt Vesuvius but that was not the case. I've never done this before, and travel often, but would not recommend.Written August 8, 2024
- stacieb8200 contributionsAmazing experience! We visited in July as a family of four, ages 21-65. Our guide, tour, wines and lunch were amazing!!! Highly recommended!Written July 29, 2024
- 39dennisk0 contributionsA Perfect Wine and Dining ExperienceWe visited Cantina del Vesuvio Winery after several hours of touring the Naples area in June of 2024. Our tour guide had made the arrangements, and they delivered us to the winery. Once there, we were greeted by our host and he seated us on the patio and poured us each a glass of white wine. It was quite delicious. We didn't realize it at the time, but we were waiting for a few other people to show up for a tour of the winery before we had lunch. The staff didn't care to see my wine glass was empty while we waited, and they generously poured me another glass. I wasn't going to say "no." After our tour group was assembled, our host gave us a brief 15 minute tour of the winery. It is really quite beautiful. There is an amazing view of Mount Vesuvius, which we had just hiked up, on one side. On the other side was the Gulf of Naples and a view of Sorrento and the Italian coast. It was gorgeous. We also got a chance to look at the amazing grounds of the winery as well as they bottling process. Once the tour was over, we were shown to the roof top seating area. We were served at least three different types of wine while we enjoyed our lunch, which consisted of an anti-pasta plate, some salad, noodles, and meatballs. It was such a great afternoon. We were fortunate it wasn't too hot and it was a bit overcast. The food was fantastic, and we enjoyed all the wines. The staff was incredibly friendly and the service was great. It isn't that I had low expectations for this winery, I just didn't know where we were going until we got there. I was really impressed by this experience. If I am back in Naples again, I'd try to make it back.Written July 24, 2024
- HP_Texas0 contributionsAbsolutely AmazingWhat a pleasant surprise. Pompeii is a beat down and our driver recommended we visit for lunch and relaxation. The hospitality, food and wine was a very pleasant surprise based on the service on the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento. The views of the bay and Mt Vesuvius from their rooftop is spectacular and possibly the best view on the coast. I highly recommend. It’s out of the way, but if you are headed back from Pompeii it’s a great stop to relax and refresh.Written July 23, 2024
- yasik190 contributionsFantastic winery!Fantastic winery! This winery is set right in the foot of Vesuvius. The views are spectacular. The food and wine is delicious, the service is friendly, and the overall atmosphere is terrific.Written June 30, 2024
- JodyB4340 contributionsA perfect pairing with a tour of PompeiiOn our way back from touring Pompeii our driver recommended stopping at Cantina del Vesuvius and it was an excellent suggestion. After a tour of the vineyards and processing center we had a tasting of 5 wines with an extensive food pairing. They also have their own olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Does it get more Italian than drinking wine, eating pasta at the base of Mount Vesuvius! The wines were very good and bought 2 bottles to take home, along with the oil.Written June 25, 2024
