I want to first thank Mary & Fillipo for making us feel like family and for welcoming us into their beautiful home! This cooking class was so much fun for our two grown children & my husband & me. We learned about the local ingredients that we used and my son was able to pick olives off their centuries old trees! We cannot stop talking the homemade pasta, to the fresh tomato sauce and the fried olives we had. We are definitely going to be making all of the recipes that Mary gave us. If you are looking for a unique experience & love to cook, then this is definitely something you want to do!

We attended half day class where we learned to make a full meal. We have done many half and full day cooking classes in Italy. Some are more observing , some are very hands on, and this one was very hands on. She explained everything done as it was made, and immediately sent us the recipes once the class was over. When planning the event, we were given menu options and Mariangela was quite accommodating to our needs. We learned the specific way pasta is made in Basilicata and we were happy to know that some items (like the mushrooms we used) are unique to the region. I believe that we all felt that this was one of the highlights of our week trip to southern Italy, and would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic time learning to cook some delicious food with Mariangela and Fillippo.
From the moment we arrived at their beautiful home we were made to feel welcome and by the time we left we felt like we'd made two new friends. The whole day was so much fun and we learnt a lot about the traditional dishes we were making.
We were involved in making all the dishes, our favourite part (apart from eating what we'd made!) was making homemade pasta. Halfway through cooking we enjoyed a glass of prosecco and an amazing selection of focaccia, cheese and meat.
We felt such a sense of achievement when we sat down to eat the food we'd spent hours making. The food was absolutely delicious, made with beautiful local ingredients and enjoyed with a glass of red wine.
I highly recommend this experience for anyone who enjoys cooking, eating and meeting new people. Our day at Cook'n Fun at Mary's was the highlight of our trip to Matera!
