Starting at 9:30 am at your hotel or Airbnb, cruise ship port, or another location of your choosing, your guide will pick you up in a private car and take you on a scenic drive of Valencia's Mediterranean beach area, where you will see the new America's Cup Port, the city's Formula 1 track, the incredible City of Arts and Sciences Complex, and the medieval city gates.
Your guide will then lead you by foot into the historic city center, where you can explore Roman, Moorish, and medieval history with examples from each era. You will visit Roman remains from 138BC, along with St. Mary's Cathedral, home to the Holy Grail (or so legend has it). If time permits, you may also visit other beautiful churches and chapels in the city center, depending on your interests, as well as the main city plazas. Your tour will certainly include a visit to the Lonja Silk Exchange, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage Site. La Lonja is one of the world's greatest examples of gothic architecture and was once the center of commerce in Valencia, like a "Wall Street" of the ancient world.
There is a saying in Spanish that “we can not speak without a table between us”. It is true that the most meaningful conversations in Spain occur over the lunch table between 1:00pm and 3:00pm every day. For your tour, you can choose a quick and light lunch stop of tapas or an authentic Spanish dish, such as the Valencian paella. You can choose to have your guide join you for lunch or to pick you up afterwards, depending on your wishes. If you are a true “foodie” and would like a Michelin Star restaurant experience, your guide can make the reservation for you in one of the four Michelin star restaurants in Valencia and leave you there for a delightfully affordable Michelin experience. Please note, the price of your meals is not included in the price of the tour.
After lunch, your guide will take you to explore more of the city center, if you wish, or perhaps take you on a leisurely drive to the local rice paddies just outside of the city or to Albufera, the nearby protected nature park, where you can view the beautiful lagoon.
At the end of your eight-hour tour, your guide will drop you off at a location of your choice or you can remain in the historical center for shopping, lunch, or more exploration. Your guide would be happy to give suggests for restaurants and shopping in the city center. This tour includes your private guide and transportation, as well as entrances for your family or group to two museums or monuments of your choice. The most commonly requested entrances are La Lonja Silk Exchange, the L'Amoina Roman archeological museum, St. Mary's Cathedral, or the Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, though any choice in the city center is an excellent opportunity to explore Valencian history and culture.
