Family tour of Northern Spain/San Fermin 2023
We just returned a few days ago from an amazing family trip to Northern Spain arranged by Stephanie at Northern Spain Travel. There were 5 of us (parents and kids 21, 18, and 14). Everything was perfectly planned, and I can't believe how much we were able to see, do and eat in 8 days! We traveled from Bilbao to San Sebastian, Hondarribia, Olite, Pamplona and back to Bilbao, seeing several other towns/villages on the way. We ate at amazing restaurants, kayaked, hiked the Gaztelugatxe trail, stayed in castles, had one-of-a-kind wine tastings with surprise touches, and got to see the running of the bulls from our own accommodations at San Fermin along with other festivities. Stephanie and her team are based in Pamplona, so they were able to provide us with local, insider guidance. She literally led us through the streets of Pamplona herself, treating us like her friends and it was a wonderful experience. All of the people on her team are top notch, and if you are interested in visiting this part of Spain, I can't imagine anyone else being able to provide you with a better experience than Stephanie at Northern Spain Travel.

Stephanie will make sure you enjoy the culture.
Experiencing Spanish culture during a fiesta can be challenging because of the sheer volumes of tourists around you. Stephanie takes you inside the authentic zone, and provides you with the insider's perspective. It's amazing to see the places through her eyes!

Do not hesitate to book with Northern Spain Travel. You will be treated like family! Our journey included fabulous vistas and extraordinary restaurant experiences. I’m positive we were taken to places your “normal” travel agency doesn’t even know exist. All transportation was seem less, spotless and timely. Sit back and relax and get ready for a wonderful time.

    Great Experience
Myself and my wife enjoyed a wonderful evening with Oliver who was a charming and knowledgable host. He provided a perfect blend of the history of Pamplona and Navarra, their customs and gastronomy. We visited 5 bars sampling great pinxtos accompanied with outstanding local wines. Oliver gave us a brief tour of his private club which was a nice insight to local culture. All in all a great way to spend and evening (1900 to 2300) in Pamplona Highly recomended

    A memorable experience
We stopped in Pamplona during our walk along the Camino from Saint-Jean to Santiago. We booked in advance of the walk to ensure we had the opportunity on opening day to watch the bull run, a bull fight, and have accommodations in Pamplona. Stephanie Mutsaerts from Northern Spain travel made this possible and went out of her way to ensure that we had our bags transferred correctly from our previous stay into our apartment in Pamplona, because the travel services for luggage do not typically transfer luggage into Pamplona unless there is 24-hour reception. We also enjoyed a walking tour (tasting samples from various locations) following the bull run. The company was accommodating and answered all of our questions in advance. Stephanie was so patient to ensure that our dream bucket list items were fulfilled and that we enjoyed our experience. I would highly recommend this event and travel company.

    Bulls on Parade
Went to the San Fermin Festival and the Running of the Bulls. It is surprisingly difficult to find reliable information about this event. Here're a few quick thoughts for anyone thinking about going (and running): 1. If you want to do the Run, watch the day before you do it. If you're not thoroughly terrified, run on your second day. 2. Show up on time (as close to 0700hrs as possible). Around 0730hrs, they stop letter potential runners enter. 3. Don't bring: alcohol, glass bottles, or weapons. 4. Someone told me that you can't bring in a phone or Go-Pro --but I saw PLENTY of people that brought those items in. 5. The police do a pat-down of everyone that enters, so if you're going to try to sneak anything in, good luck. 6. If you're drunk, wearing flip-flops, sandals, or any other shoes not meant for running, or simply look like you might have a heart attack before the bulls are even released, the police will kick you out. 7. The police are no joke. They have ZERO tolerance for your shenanigans. They WILL beat you up. 8. Fifteen minutes before the race begins (approx. 0745hrs) they let the runners move around wherever they like within the enclosed course. 9. If you want to do the Run, but want to be as far away from being gored as possible, walk down to the entrance of the Coliseum around 0750hrs. You'll be able to stroll on in and get a good spot to watch everything inside. 10. During the week of the Festival, many restaurants have a set menu. And they CRAZY busy right after the Run ends (around 0800hrs). Be prepared to wait and not have a lot of options.

    Running of the Bulls
A thrilling and fun environment for 8 days! Run with the bulls, or just watch. The electric atmosphere is exciting either way, but run if you can. Day long partying follows the morning run. I long to go back and run again, but there are lots of other places to visit so...

    Pamplona Insider Tour
Not being one who willingly dives into crowded unfamiliar settings, I put my faith into Steph to get that Pamplona insider experience that just can't be found during a short visit to a strange new place. Steph knows the best and most creative tapas chefs and local food critics, and they all know and greet her as a welcome friend. This was a memorable experience both meeting people and sampling dishes and wines that I would never have thought to try on my own. This was a fun informative evening and time well spent.

    Nothing like it anywhere!
There is nothing like it anywhere in the world. It's something you have to experience. It's unforgettable and one that you'll talk about over and over again. Sea of people, drinking sangria but peaceful, having fun, moving like sea waves! Because the plaza is small and people were packed like sardines, very tightly, more than shoulder to shoulder whatever the term would be. Everybody is waiting for the go ahead from the alcalde and formal opening of the running of bulls!

    All went smoothly
The apartment was clean, and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. Breakfast was across the street (apple tart). Grocery store was 3 min. walk. The apartment was a good temperature, considering it was August. (no air conditioning needed.)

    Lifetime Memories
What an awesome experience! This was dream come true. Since the age of 19 I wanted to experience the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain and at 52 I had the opportunity to make it happen. Stephanie and her staff, at Northern Sapin Travel, ensured timeless memories. They were attentive to all our questions needs. They pretty much treated us like celebrities but we were not unique in that aspect; everyone of their clients were treat with kindness and respect. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family traveling in the North of Spain.

Absolutely great trip to San Sebastian, San Juan and San Jose — sailing, walking, a drive through beautiful farm lands, and a magnificent seafood lunch at Casa Camara in San Jose, which has been serving guests since 1884. If you like lobster and beautiful harbor views, this is the place to be. Our guide, Steph, was a delight — fun, knowledgeable and tireless. She started with us at 9 in the morning, and stayed with us until 10 that evening. Beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful day — Hemingway style.
