An absolutely brilliant place. We enjoyed the wine and warmth of hospitality. We've booked an evening visit for one of our two nights in Madrid. I've definitely learned more about my own experience of wine in just a couple of hours. Highly recommend.

My husband and I booked the sherry tasting experience. We were the only 2 people, so it ended up being a private tasting with Kevin. How sherry gets made is fascinating. Kevin is very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. We mentioned that we ran out of time to also book the Vermouth tasting. What did he do? He opened up a few bottles for us to try! Even if you can't make one of their scheduled tastings, contact them because they are very accommodating. I strongly recommend a visit to Madrid & Darracott whether you book a tasting or not!

On the evening of the day we arrived in Madrid we were searching for a bottle of chilled white wine to enjoy with our dinner. Three places had no chilled wine; finally we found Madrid & Darracott. The gentleman who assisted us listened carefully to my wife's description of what we wanted, repeated back all the criteria, and recommended a chilled bottle that turned out to be perfect. He loves wine, is highly knowledgeable about wine, and is customer-focussed. Great experience.

Excellent wine store near Plaza Mayor that sells great selection of wines, including ones that you will rarely find at other stores. Highly recommended!!

The owner of a nearby restaurant recommended I visit Madrid & Darracott and very fortunately I was able to book a tasting for the last night of their annual Sherry Week. What a delightful experience. I learned a lot about wine in the company of locals, expats, and tourists alike. 100% would do again.

Luke and Roque know their stuff and their stuff is Spanish wines! The "Inside the bottle" wine tasting in the shop were lots of fun where you not only could taste awesome wines but also learn about spanish wines, culture and meet very interesting people from all over the world. During lockdown Luke and Roque came up with the idea of "Lockdown wine tasting". Their selection of wine boxes (sent to your home) matched the expectations: nothing less than excellent wines! (and at affordable prices) . If you visit Madrid, do not hesitate to stop by their shop (very close to plaza Mayor, so no excuse!), you won't regret it!

Luke and Roque have made the lookdown period so much more bearable with their online wine tastings. They even made the trouble to send me wine to Portugal. The boxes have been a great mix and have made me try wines that I probably wouldn't have experienced otherwise. Their knowledge about everything wine; grapes, regions, history and food pairings is obvious. All talked about in a fun and relaxed way. Next time I'll visit Madrid a "real life" wine tasting at Madrid & Darracottwill be my priority. Susanne

Me and my boyfriend did a tasting with Roque and we just had the best time!! He has so much passion and knowledge for Spanish wines and brings it to life by his storytelling as well as sharing wine tips in a fun and silly way! If you’re in Madrid you will not regret doing this tasting and of course will probably walk out with a few bottles from their beautiful wine shop! I will definitely do another tasting next time I’m in Madrid! Thanks so much again guys!!

We went to Madrid & Darracott simply to pick out a couple of bottles of wine for dinner. We know very little about wine and went in there blind. The proprietor stepped us through, describing each bottle and the kind of flavor we could expect... everything from 7 euros to 80 euros. We came away with a couple of bottles in our price range that were spot on. I would definitely go back to this place for my next bottle.

Went here one evening with a number of friends for a Spanish wine tasting. We choose a sparkling to start with followed by two whites and then two reds. Luke looked after us royally, keeping us well entertained with his in depth knowledge of the large variety of Spanish wines, we had heard of Rioja but not familiar with all the other varietals; helpfully aided by a large map of the country. Not to forget the various small tapas bits, olives, cheese, jamon , etc that kept on appearing and kept any hunger from the door. Would thoroughly recommend.

I learned about Madrid and Darracott while on a food tour and the guide pointed out a flyer in a jamonería advertising wine tastings "in sophisticated English". Equal parts curious and affronted, I visited later that day and I'm so glad I did. I'm a veteran wine taster with a toddler's grasp on the Spanish language so it was comforting to do something familiar in a familiar language. It's quite clear that Luke is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about wine, but what really made the experience memorable and fun was his quick wit and humor. Not only did I have fun learning about wine, but he also helped me to expand my Spanish vocabulary with some new curse words for my friends back in the States. He's also fantastically patient with drunk people, which I quickly was. Hands down, the best wine tasting I've ever been to.
