Enjoyable trip to Segovia

Really enjoyed our trip to Segovia. Our coach was spotless and our driver Pedro was excellent.
Alex kept us entertained with his commentary on our journey and split us into two groups when we arrived for our walking tour, Spanish and English speaking.
I joined the English speaking group and our guide was a local lady called Aranta (Sorry if I have this wrong). She made the tour so interesting and was obviously very proud of her hometown.
We had approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes in Segovia which was fine if your time is limited. Personally, I would have liked a little longer there in order to visit either the castle or the Cathedral.
A great trip and good value if you have limited time in Madrid but want to get a taster of what else there is to see in this historic part of Spain.

Picked up at 9am after a little struggle understanding bus stop meeting point. Nice bus to Segovia and the aqueduct, church, castle, town all amazing. Only complaint was rainy and cold and the bi-lingual guide (who struggled with English) repeated everything in both languages while we stood in the cold drizzle trying to stay warm. Be aware, departure time was 7pm...it’s an all day thing. Guide was nice to help get me water bottle back that was left on the bus.

Worth a visit

Unorganized but ended up okay
Our experience was really mixed: it started bad with the tour guides trying to force us to choose another option (Segovia + Toledo or Segovia + Avila) instead of the one we chose on purpose for just Segovia because they didn't have a bus or a guide for us (!!!). What's worse was that one of the guides convinced one group of young American girls to take the Toledo+Segovia tour - I don't think they knew the distance between those cities before agreeing to what the guide said was a good deal (TWO instead of ONE city).

PSA: unless you really like spending most of your time in the tour bus, don't choose Toledo + Segovia option... Just check the map first to see where those two cities are located!

Eventually with several of us adamant that we wanted a whole day to really spend some time in Segovia instead of being hurried around, the guides relented and figured out a ride for us. This took approximately 40 minutes in the cold morning and we left 30 minutes later than scheduled.

The walking tour itself was decent; it did feel like the English version of the explanations were a bit shorter than the Spanish one but hey, it's the guide's native language and no grudge from me on that. The guide did a good job as far as I am concerned with the walking tour portion.

Overall, 3 stars for the bad + the good. I honestly don't know if I would recommend this to others - if the bad planning in the morning was avoided, yes, but as it was, buyers beware.

Day tour of Segovia
I had hoped having a guide would help navigate the beautiful city of Segovia and learn more than I would from simply taking a guidebook. I was wrong. First, the guide - Alec- was very nice and I’m sure is quite knowledgeable. Unfortunately, his explanations were very brief and cursory- probably due to the fact that he was speaking in Spanish and English and so it took twice as long to say half as much. He also said the cathedral was “not open” for visiting so skipped it. Turned out it’s open to the public- as we discovered on our own later in the day. So glad we didn’t listen to him. The trip back was on an unheated bus- after standing in cold rain waiting for it.
Save your money- take your own bus or high speed train from Madrid (it’s only 30 minutes) and a good guide book and you’ll be much happier.

Our guide was Jennifer and our driver was Juanito! The tour was good and informative. We even got the option to go to Avila on this tour. Both cities are very beautiful and we felt that we had enough time in each city. Jennifer is a very sweet and caring individual. During our free time in Avila she waited around so that we could all leave together.

Great walking tour - Segovia only

I took the Segovia only tour and I really enjoyed It. Segovia has so much history it was invaluable to have a guide. Plus we had ample opportunity to explore on our own during the afternoon. Definitely worth it!
