On this tour, your guide will introduce you to the different artistic movements showcased here, including abstractionism, cubism, surrealism, and modernism. You’ll come face to face with works by the iconic Pablo Picasso, including his world-changing painting, “Guernica.” You’ll browse works by Joan Miró, like “The Man with a Pipe,” and Salvador Dali’s “Face of the Great Masturbator,” learning about the techniques and strategies they used to create their oftentimes quirky works of art. You’ll discover all about the social and political movements that shaped these artists and their work, including the Spanish Civil War. You’ll leave with a richer understanding of 20th century Spanish art, allowing you to wander confidently through one of the world’s largest contemporary art collections.

- daniellJ9816KY0 contributionsAn important tour for all visitorsDavid was so kind! Being from the US we really enjoyed his tour as he simplified it enough for us to take in during a short tour, but also showed us wonderful detail! He even took us a Convent and helped us buy cookies from the nuns! Overall a very special tour that I highly suggest doing as soon as you get into town so you have a better layout for the rest of your trip. Muchas gracias, David!Written December 3, 2024
- Timothy L0 contributionsOutstanding tour content and great guide!Jake, our guide, was very knowledgeable, both about Madrid and its history. He shared a lot of interesting facts about both. We stopped at many spots, so there was time to rest during the walk. I’ve been on many guided tours around the world, and Jake is one of the best! He is also quite tall, so easy to follow thru the crowds😀Written December 1, 2024
- nabenom0 contributionsExcellent history!Well planned, moderate walk. Our guide, Jake, kept us interested and asking questions. The history of the area is rich and vibrant and our guide conveyed this to us in enthralling tales mixed with architectural background. Thanks Jake!Written November 30, 2024

- MarkVose0 contributionsInteresting history and well presentedJake was an excellent guide. The walking tour was very informative and presented a historical guide of the history of Spain and the city of Madrid. The pace was just about right and followed a useful structure of history and Spain’s place in the world. As well as presenting basic facts, Jake provided stories that complimented the understanding of the locations and historical context. There was lots of time given to extra questions from guests. We would highly recommend this tour to get an excellent feel for Madrid and Spain. Mark & EmmaWritten November 30, 2024
- denver0140 contributionsGreat tour and we learned a lotWe really enjoyed our tour with Sergio. He was an excellent teacher and guide. We learned a lot about the history of Madrid, and Spain, and he helped historic Madrid come alive. As we have walked around since, we’ve been able to see other examples of things that we heard from him. The small group was a perfect size.Written November 29, 2024

- Traveler562870 contributionsA Must DoThis was our first trip to Madrid. Being a walkable city, we decided on a walking tour. Boy did we hit a home run with this tour and Beatriz as our guide. She is very personable and knowledgeable about past and presented. It was more like a walk with a friend than a guide. Don’t take the big tour bus. Take this tour if you want close to the real Old Town.Written November 20, 2024

Our guide Marta completely changed the way we look at art forever! The reason we decided to book a guided tour was that we enjoy visiting museums however ~ what am I looking at? What is it saying? What is the significance of this piece at the time? … And so many more questions go unanswered. Marta provided details and the history throughout the museum in chronological order that completely changed the way we look at art forever. Her enthusiasm and the way her face & eyes would light up made it obvious that art & history are a passion verses a ‘job’. We felt very fortunate to have her as our guide. Thoroughly enjoy our time and highly recommend.
While the tour is 2.5 hours you can stay afterwards as long as you like. Meeting point was super easy to find. Greta job Babylon Tours. Thank you!!

We were a party of three that took a small group tour of the Reine Sofia Museum guided by Ana. Ana was timely, dependable, highly knowledgeable og passionate about her subject, energetic and interactive, but always ready to tailor the tour to adjust to the needs of our small group. She had a planned program, but always took time to answer our questions or discuss other works of art.
I highly recommend the tour, as it brought our experience to a much higher level.
