Chose this tour because we had limited time in Madrid and wanted to experience both the Prado and one of the famous restaurants we heard so much about. We have also heard great things about Devour Tours.

Our guide was Rosita, who led us on a well-curated and organized tour of the best works in the Prado. She knew lots of facts about the works and their artists and knew the best way to get around so we avoided most of the crowds. I wish we had more time in the museum but see how the scheduling limits this.

After the museum we walked to Casa Alberto to sample their famous vermouth before going through Plaza Mayor to to Botin for a quick tour through the restaurant and cellar before they opened. It was great to see the spaces empty and all the different rooms, including the basement wine cellar and upper room where Hemingway loved to sit. The meal was also very good, featuring the famous suckling pig, wine, and dessert.

Overall highly recommend if you have limited time in the city and want to see two (plus) historic sites.

We took this tour the day after we arrived in Madrid and it was so worth it! Our guide Ana was so passionate about the art in the Prado museum which made the tour 1000x better. She had so much knowledge about the artists, history, and art styles that made us appreciate everything more than if we had just gone at it alone. The quick stop for aperitifs followed by the lunch at Botín was delicious as well, we left with very full bellies! I would absolutely recommend this tour to people who love food and tend to get a little lost in art museums without a proper guide! Gracias, Ana & Devour Food Tours! :)

Rosita our guide was knowledgeable, charming and engaging. While we waited in line with our tickets which she stood in line well before the museum opened to get, she asked each group of attendees (12 total) to talk about ourselves so we could get to know one another better. She did a great job explaining the 15 works of art that we visited at the Prado, which was a better strategy than trying to see too much in the time we had. She also gave us a lot of insight about the literary quarter where we visited a tavern and tried vermouth and chicharrons. We capped off the experience with a good meal at Le Botin, the oldest continually operating restaurant in the world. The food was good, but the company was better. Completely worthwhile experience.

Our tour of the Prado and lunch at Sobrino de Botín was phenomenal. Rosita was the perfect tour guide: fun, knowledgeable and engaging. She shared some of the greatest works from the Prado with us with more context and background than we could get on our own. With Rosita’s expertise in art history, we left feeling we’d learned so much in a short time. She opened our eyes to Spanish Vermouth, and we’ll certainly be taking some home. And she showed us the spectacular Botín, the world’s oldest restaurant. I cannot imagine a better experience than taking this tour – especially with Rosita.

Hi Allison, Thanks for joining us on tour, it sounds like you had a great morning! The Prado can be overwhelming and having an art expert like Rosita to break it down and share the most interesting pieces and stories makes a world of a difference. We hope you're able to join us on another Devour Tour, whether it be here in Madrid, or in any of our sister cities. Kind regards, Anna

We discovered Devour Tours as we planned for our Spain trip and knew we wanted to go on one of their tours! This tour was spectacular!! Rosita our wonderful guide made this experience a highlight of our trip! She was extremely knowledgeable, sociable, and jovial throughout the tour. Throughout the Prado Museum she walked us through the history of Spain through the artists work. This history helped us understand more things as we went throughout the rest of our trip. We enjoyed tasting Spain's famous Vermut at one of the the oldest taverns! And topped off this wonderful tour with an inside look at Botin and a delicious lunch! This tour was a highlight of our trip! We would highly recommend anyone to go! Don't let the fear of not knowing about art keep you from going, Rosita made the history and art we saw feel manageable and exciting!

We loved this experience! The time spent in the Prado with our guide, Ana (an accomplished artist in her own right), was an informative and lively way to learn about how art and history were woven together in Spain. Capping the morning with an aperitvo followed by a tour of Restaurante Botin and lunch there felt like gilding a lily. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

We had a great tour with Alfonso. Don't visit the Prado Museum without him! There was so much that we would have just walked past and missed if it were not for Alfonso. While we only focused on approximately 7 pieces at the museum, we deep dived into those pieces, the artists, and the context for the work. I felt like I had a much stronger understanding of Spanish art and history after the tour.

Alfonso then led us through literary square explaining the history of the neighborhood and helped us identify landmarks and placards/signs throughout the area. He also showed us how to order vermouth (delish).

We did a tour of Botin, the oldest continuously working restaurant in the world, and had a delicious meal (wine, artichoke with Iberico ham, croquettes, suckling pig, and Basque cheesecake).

Incredible tour. It made my trip to Madrid.

I’ve never done an art tour before. But I’ve done many historical tours around the world. And this was one of the best.

Alfonso’s knowledge of the art and his passion for the history behind the pieces we viewed made this tour exceptional.

He chose specific works to focus on. And he went into deep explanation to explain the details of the paintings that I would’ve missed on my own.

Alfonso also described the historical context as well. That helped to understand the works of art we viewed.

After the museum tour, we went and drank vermouth at a famous bar. He explained that each bar brews their own vermouth. And talked about the history of the drink and the bar itself.

Then we ate at Botin—the oldest (continuous) restaurant in the world. The wine and cheesecake were delicious. I had the roast lamb and thought it was just ok. But it’s worth the experience because of the history of the restaurant and the conversation.

That’s the other thing I’d mention. I feel like this tour attracts interesting people. Great conversations and even better people.

I highly recommend. It made my trip to Madrid.

My husband and I spent our last day in Madrid doing this tour. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to have a private guide to view the masterpieces in the Prado Museum. Our guide Alfonso couldn't have been any better. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the paintings and the history and stories around the painting was just simply incredible. I actually wouldn't want to go to the Prado with anyone other them him! He was so nice! We had a small group of 5 of us, which felt so intimate. Then we walked as a group through a lovely area of Madrid, passing by street market vendors and then to a very cool taverna for a glass of vermut to "open our palate" before our meal. We just so happened to see a Spanish celebrity drinking in the same place of us which was extra cool. Then on to the famous Botin restaurant! We were let in before the crowds and before the restaurant tour all by ourselves. The meal was incredible and fun with our group! I had the lamb and my husband had the suckling pig and we shared. They were both delicious. This tour was such a highlight! Highly recommend. Thanks so much Alfonso!!!

Our guide Rosita is very passionate about art. Her explanations were insightful and interesting. She was also very accommodating with questions and made sure no one in the group was left out.

We only saw the highlights of the place. Given that Prado is a huge museum, it would be impossible to appreciate every piece of art work.
