- mariadA6855US0 contributionsA must do plan in MadridI did the Tapas Class with my mother and had a blast. Chef Eduardo was very nice and explained all ingredients and gave us substitutes in case we didn’t find something. We also dis a very nice version of white sangria, that was to die for. We totally recommend this experience. We even took the leftovers home 😋Written July 10, 2024
- Andrew T0 contributionsGreat session with Cooking PointWe had a great paella session with Eduardo. The family loved making a delicious 3 course meal, visiting a local market, and hearing about all the great ingredients from Spain.Written December 30, 2023
- Newton A0 contributionsAmazing cooking classElisa was an amazing teacher, she taught us much more than the Paella cooking, she also taught us how to better chopping, cleaning the food and the mise en place preparation. The result was amazing and we all had a lunch together at the end of the class eating our own Paella, salad and drinking our own sangria. There were couples, friends, solo travelers and families there, it was super inclusive. Elisa’s energy and sense of humor added a special taste to the classWritten December 20, 2023
- cyndiu20170 contributionsCooking pointExcellent cooking experience. Great instruction Clean and relaxed kitchen setting And our end result, paella, was delicious. I picked this class because it is offered earlier in the day than most of the others. We already had plans for the evening and most other offerings started too late to fit into our day. It was great.Written November 18, 2023
- NYCNomad20220 contributionsFantastic! My 9yr old son and I took a paella cooking class with Chef Elisse during our recent trip to Madrid. It was fantastic and one of our favorite activities. Chef Elisse is extremely knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting facts about Spanish cuisine during our market visit. The cooking class was fun and Elisse gave us a lot of excellent tips along the way. Since my son is allergic to shellfish, she adjusted the recipe to include chicken and a lot of vegetables, which he loves. My son is already planning paella lunch during one of the upcoming weekends (we have brought “bomba” rice from Madrid to make it authentic).Written November 14, 2023
- JennyfromAustralia0 contributionsA great class to do while in MadridThe paella cooking class was such a great experience. After meeting my fellow participants and the very engaging, fun and informative Teresa, we walked to the nearby food markets to buy our food - fresh. While the food was being gathered, cut and bagged, Teresa talked with us about the different food regions, history of foods and spices and so much more. On return to the kitchen, we spent the full time preparing our dishes. The tastes were amazing and the recipe was given to recreate everything at home. I absolutely recommend this class.Written October 3, 2023
- Michael L0 contributionsA Spanish Cooking ClassEduardo, the owner/operator of Cooking Point did a wonderful job introducing us to Spanish cuisine. We had the opportunity of participating in the preparation of a complete meal, from making Sangria to a dessert, Crema Catalana (Catalan Crème). The process was not only interesting, but entertaining as well. If in Madrid, I would highly recommend making an effort to take advantage of a Spanish cooking class with Eduardo at Cooking Point.Written September 28, 2023
- monicalR4487UI0 contributionsA Truly Fantastic ExperienceThis was without a doubt the highlight of my trip to Madrid. From start to finish a wonderful experience full of laughs! I actually couldn't believe the quality of the food we produced; Teresa is an excellent teacher! I would certainly recommend this experience; infact I'd love to go again myself!Written February 16, 2023
- Miguelito25100 contributionsA unique and an amazing experienceI booked 2 classes.. Tapas on Tuesday and Paella Friday. Eduardo is an amazing chef and teacher. Recipes were easy to follow and he always made sure we also understand the context around Spanish food. I love cooking and eating and these experiences were two of my best culinary experiences of my life. Fun, safe, pragmatic.. I went alone as my wife could not travel with me but either alone or with your partner, this is a perfect way to feel and taste Spain like never before.. Gracias Edu!!!Written November 12, 2021

- piperpea140 contributionsAmazing Online Class - As Close to Being in Spain as We Can Be During COVID-19My husband and I had an AMAZING time doing the online tapas class this past weekend. It felt like we were transported back to Spain, and now we have amazing new (and incredibly fresh) recipes to add to the list of recipes we got when we took the Cooking Point class in person over two years ago (we still have the recipe book!). We had so much fun and totally recommend an online class as a great way to spend an afternoon and connect with your family in the kitchen (while feeling like you're in Spain). :)Written February 16, 2021
- LisaCallaghan0 contributionsHighly recommend Cooking a point and TeresaWhat a fun day! What a wonderful chef and teacher Teresa is. I absolutely loved going to the Mercado with her and watch her buy all the supplies for the day. She has a fantastic personality and included everyone. We left with all sorts of great cooking knowledge and stomachs filled with delicious paella!Written February 8, 2020

- jent12270 contributionsTheresa’s paella class is excellent!Theresa’s paella class was wonderful! We had a group of 4 adults + 3 children (5, 7 & 10), joined by another family with 3 teenage children. Theresa engaged each of the children and kept them focused on their tasks (an immense accomplishment), while sharing interesting facts about the area and tips on how to prepare the food at home. If you are lucky enough to take her class, find a way to get her singing earlier on - she also has a beautiful singing voice, and led us in a few sing-alongs. I would take her class again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful experience!Written January 4, 2020
- elephan220 contributionsHighly recommended paella cooking classWe had an outstanding class with Eduardo cooking paella, crema Catalan and making sangria. It started with an extensive and informative market tour - Eduardo knows so much, not just about the food being sold (and what we bought) but also gave us background on markets in Madrid, fishing patterns and more. We then went on to make a delicious meal - again learning a lot from Eduardo and having the chance to get to know him as well. The space is beautifully put together for the class too. Highly recommend on a trip to Madrid!Written January 3, 2020

My husband and I were so excited for this cooking class. It was the first thing we booked for our trip to Spain. Shortly before our trip I received an e-mail that they had to cancel the class and would rebook us another day. We had already booked other tours and made other plans, so this unfortunately didn’t work out for us. I asked them to just cancel our booking. Fast forward and the day before we were supposed to have this class and we get charged not once, but twice for the class that had been cancelled. When we called to ask them to reverse the charges they were pretty rude and told us to deal with it ourselves. After some back and forth they agreed to call and fix it, but let slip that the reason our class was cancelled to begin with was because a big group had booked and they booted us out to accommodate them despite the fact that we had registered first. I’d be willing to guess the majority of people signing up for this class are traveling internationally and can’t just change their plans at the last minute to accommodate a date change as most schedules are pretty jam packed. This was a super disappointing experience and while I can’t speak to the class itself, I wouldn’t recommend signing up for this if you’re looking for reliability.

Just to clarify for the reader, your bad review is about the booking and cancellation process, not the class itself, which you didn't take.
Looking at your booking history, I see you booked our class through TripAdvisor/Viator 63 days prior to the class date. I contacted you 42 days before the class to notify you that it was canceled and to offer alternative dates. As the alternatives did not suit you, the next day I asked TripAdvisor/Viator to cancel (and refund) the reservation. However, it seems that you never received any refund. When, one day before the class, you called me to claim it, I suggested that you contacted TripAdvisor/Viator since they were the ones through which you had purchased our services, and in the end had charged your credit card. Nevertheless, that same day I contacted their customer service to request the refund again. When and how you are reimbursed after I request the cancelation is something I can’t control.
When we receive inquiries for private events, we carefully assess the situation before contacting clients in terms of reservations already received for that date, the time until the event, and the availability of alternative classes. In this case, you were the only booking at the time (6 weeks before the event) and the booking calendar was quite empty. Considering that you can cancel up to 24 hours before class, I think it's only fair that we can cancel classes that far in advance.

You can meet a new culture by gazing at its monuments or wandering its museums. We prefer to connect through our stomachs. Eduardo facilitated that connection with four hours of shopping, cooking, eating, and drinking that will be a favorite memory of our time in Madrid. Eduardo's kitchen classroom is contemporary and sparkling clean. Eduardo is organized and clear in his instructions. Our small group included two who required halal, and Eduardo adeptly accommodated them, adjusting both shopping and cooking. We are experienced cooks that thought we knew much about sangria and gazpacho, only to find Eduardo's way is much better but not more difficult. What a great memory of Madrid!

My friends and I loved our cooking class with Eduardo! Our morning visit started with a trip to the market where we were able to learn about the types of foods you would see in a grocery store and where they come from. Then, we were able to use the ingredients we picked up at the store to make delicious sangria, paella, and crema catalana.
Eduardo was a fantastic host! He spoke excellent English, was so thorough in his explanations, and I was so impressed that he took the time to learn each of our names and interact with us throughout the experience. Not only did we learn more about Spanish culture from him, we also picked up a few new kitchen tips and tricks too.
This experience was definitely one of our favorites of our whole trip! I would recommend, without a doubt, to anyone who has an interest in food culture.

Thank you Angel, for an amazing experience. We learned to make Tapas over a fun and interactive evening. This is a hands on experience as each group of two makes each of the 7 recipes. We learned a lot about Spain, tapas and social life. The recipes are easy to follow and we will make them at home. Angel was very informative and great teacher, chef and guide through this evening. I highly recommend this. It is a memory that will long stay with us..

This was a really wonderful experience. Theresa took us (total size of group 10) to tech local market were we saw fish being prepared for sale, chicken being cut and we also bought olives, bread, along with the squid, very large prawns and mussels, and then we went back to nCooking Point's place nearby. It is vert centrally located just 5 minutes walk form Prado Museum. Theresa was great fun and she taught us how to make sangria, creme brûlée and paella, and we had such fun following her instructions. She had us all singing and we all managed to follow her instructions and she helped us. Theresa has lovely personality and she was very inclusive. We then ate our meal that w had cooked and she even gave us an extra half an hour of her time to allow us to relax and enjoy what was a truly unique experience. I would very highly recommend this experience as a wonderful way to enjoy Spanish culture and gastronomy.

What a great experience! We walked through the beautiful old Barrio of the school, while the host shared stories of its history. We bought our food in the local market, cooked, learned, sang and enjoyed a meal together. It was lovely. I highly recommend!

Favorite experience on our recent family trip to Madrid. Walked to market and learned about the variety of foods in each booth as our chef purchased our supplies for our feast. We asked lots of questions and learned so much! Then the fun began and Eduardo demonstrated and talked us through the preparation of Sangria, Gazpacho and Paella while snaking on spanish olives and sipping on Sangria. So much information and good food!!! A must do experience.

I brought my 12 year old who loves to cook and the chef made him feel welcome amongst all the adults. The menu was great as it was various tapas from different regions of Spain. A wonderful 3 hours of cooking and knowledge sharing followed by an hour enjoying all the plates we made. The ingredients were fresh, the kitchen well-equipped and professional, and the chef was great. The highlight of our 5 day trip to Madrid,

This was a really fun and cultural activity for our family. Our 15 year old twins loved it. Our host Angel was really an angel. He was well prepared, had clear, easy directions, had a sense of humor, connected with the group. Everybody got very good results and we all ate and drank our own creation at the end of the evening together. If I was served this food at a restaurant, I’d give that restaurant a 5 star review.

My husband is allergic to clams. Are there clams or clam juice in the paella? He can eat shrimp and mussels.

No claims were used. Only mussels were used in the dish.

Hi, I are coming the week after next and will have 5 people. Is there a way to do the tapas class in the morning with the market visit?
Written March 16, 2023
When we took the class, Eduardo explained that in Spain, the big meal of the day is at lunch. So, the smaller tapas dishes are mainly for dinner. That's why the paella class is in the morning and the tapas is in the evening.
Written March 17, 2023
Nope we where there in June and no masks were required. It’s good fun . Last weekend I gave the whole family a tapas diner with their recepies. Worth every euro

I don’t consume alcohol in any form as in inside the dish or as a drink will that be a problem?
Written August 20, 2022
There is alcohol in the Sangria, but there are other options for drinks (soda, water) available during the preparation and meal.
There was no alcohol in the paella or gazpacho.

Hola! El precio incluye los ingredientes o hay que compralos en la visita al mercado?
Written April 25, 2022
Si, los ingredientes estan incluidos en el precio. Luego te lleves la receta para que puedas volver a comprarlos cuando quieras preparla en casa.

Yes...you learn by making the dishes on your own. They guide you every step of the way, and watch so that you'll end up with something that "tastes" amazing, even if it doesn't "look" amazing (hey...there's only so much they can do!)
