Getting to understand Gaudi and Barcelona
This was a very enjoyable and informative way to get a good understanding of Gaudi, and the world in which he worked, ie Barcelona. Pia, our guide, was wonderful; personable, interesting, engaging, informative, educative, if that’s a word. it was a total delight to spend 3 hours with her as she taught us about architecture, gaudi and Barcelona . She gave a great overview of Barcelona history , woven into current developments in the city today. Some of her commentary was a bit technical, but it did give us a greater appreciation for Gaudi. Highly recommend, if you’re interested in getting more depth in understanding Barcelona than the usual guide. Excellent value.

      Wonderful tour with Pia
What a wonderful introduction to Barcelona. My husband and I enjoyed our tour with Pia very much. Informative and engaging. We valued her broad knowledge of history … and how 19th century planners and the genius of Gaudi helped shape the city today. Many thanks.

      Magnificent Barcelona.
Pía was the most knowledgeable and engaging guide. We absolutely loved every minute and so appreciated her expertise. She contextualices 2000 years of history brilliantly and in short order, giving us a framework in which to savor, enjoy, revel in the majesty of Barcelona. She was incredibly insightful and receptive to our questions and interests. We really have not had this excellent a guide in several years. We are so grateful. Also loved her sense of humor and the depth of the tour was profound and fun. All at once.

      Private Gaudi tour
Barcelona, a city bathed in sunshine and buzzing with energy, isn't just about tapas and beaches. It's an open-air museum of architectural marvels, and Antoni Gaudí, the genius behind them, is the undisputed king. My recent walking tour, focused on Gaudí's masterpieces, wasn't just sightseeing; it was a journey into a whimsical wonderland where nature and imagination intertwined. At Casa Batlló, a riot of color and organic forms. We craned our necks to admire the undulating roof, resembling a dragon's spine, and marveled at the balconies shaped like carnival masks. Every detail, from the mosaic-covered facade to the stained-glass windows, pulsed with Gaudí's signature blend of whimsy and functionality. Standing before Casa Calvet, the first thing that struck me was its understated elegance. Unlike the flamboyant Casa Batlló or the whimsical Park Güell, this building exuded a quiet confidence. The smooth limestone facade, punctuated by floral motifs and wrought-iron balconies, spoke of a refined, almost classical aesthetic. At La Pedrera, or "The Quarry," the architecture continued to astound. Its sinuous balconies resembled windswept waves, the facade evoking a honeycomb, and the wrought-iron railings twisted like branches in a forest. Inside, sunlight streamed through skylights, illuminating Gaudí's organic columns and undulating ceilings. It felt like stepping into a living, breathing organism. Our guide, a Barcelona native with the infectious enthusiasm of a Gaudí disciple. She wove tales of Gaudí's life and inspiration, his unorthodox methods, and the political and social context that birthed his masterpieces. She detailed many other works of Gaudi that weren't reachable in foot from the tour path. Overall, the Gaudi walking tour was a highlight of my Barcelona trip. It was an unforgettable journey into the mind of a genius, a celebration of Barcelona's vibrant spirit, and a reminder that architecture can truly be a form of art that touches the soul.

      Fascinating and Informative Tour
My wife and I greatly enjoyed the Barcelona-Gaudi tour. Pia, our guide, is an architect and professor, who offered fascinating insights, explanations, and information about Gaudi's work, as well as about Barcelona more generally, the culture, the schools, and the people. Pia was an absolute delight.

      Gaudi's Legacy Insights
It was the first thing we did right after we landed, we hadn't even checked in at our hotel. We couldn't reach the tour guide Pia to let her know we could've arrived late, so we decided to try to get to the meeting point as soon as possible with our luggage in hand. We found the group at the meeting point and let Pia know about our situation. She was very kind and understanding, and let us check in at the hotel first which wasn't too far from the route we had to walk. She would make an introduction a bit longer to wait for us. After we finally joined the group, we got the hearing aids which were really useful with this mode of guided tour. Pia was very insightful with all the history of every place we visited and full of the architecture and structure knowledge. We were really enthusiastic to listen to her resources as we both have architecture degree (but we both did not end up being an architect). The route was not too long or exhausting for walking, and we got to see all the highlights in the area. We would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Gaudi like us or an architecture nerd. For those who are not in the creative industry, it is also very interesting to learn the brief history of what had shaped the legacy and greatness of Barcelona up until today.

Interesting & fun introduction to Barcelona!
Our tour guide Pia was knowledgeable and a great teacher! She explained the history of Barcelona in a fun way with many illustrations, maps, and building examples as we walked through the city. We learned how Guadi's architecture emerged and became emblematic of the city's identity. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who appreciates city planning, politics, architecture, engineering, design - no matter your age or experience with these subjects. It's an exciting crash course on Barcelona in 3 info packed hours!

      amazing tour
Pia is an amazing guide. She provided us with a review of the history of Barcelona going back to Roman times, how the city first developed in the Barri and then expanded out, and how social conditions and architectural evolution impacted the design and development of the different districts and buildings. This tour then puts into perspective a fascinating collection of different buildings--some new, some repurposed factories, and urban planning.

      Amazing Architecture Tour
We booked this tour before going to Barcelona. Miguel gave us wonderful advice--we spoke with him by phone before our trip--He suggested that we do the Gaudi tour in the morning, and then do Sagrada Familia in the afternoon . This was perfect. Our guide Pia was amazing. Her background as an architect gave us amazing perspective--in how the buildings were constructed, on Gaudi and modernism, and even technical details--eg the importance of materials and how the arches are constructed to provide large interior spaces. She also gave a wonderful timeline of the history of Barcelona and how it developed going back to Roman times, and the various architectural influences, the development of the various types of blocks and gardens, and how this all coalesced in late 1800s and early 1900s to provide the unique styles. When we later went to the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, we were able to see things that I am sure we would have missed had we not had this primer. We also saw things during our later walks in town that I am sure we would have missed otherwise.

      Wonderful Tour!
My wife and I had a great time with Jelena on the architecture tour! She didn't just talk about Gaudi, but gave us a lot of background on the city and modernism writ large. We also saw incredible work from Gaudi's teacher and other contemporaries. Jelena was super knowledgable and answered all our questions. If you're into Barcelona's architecture, you should definitely check out this tour!

Great tutorial on Barcelona's urban evolution
We enjoyed this Barcelona & Urbanism tour! It was more like a private lecture with Pia, an academic who really knows and enjoys her stuff! The tour provided a broad overview of Barcelona's evolution, from a urbanistic point of view, giving valuable context to the other sites, museums, etc. that we visited during our stay in this vibrant city. We also visited places showcasing how Barcelona continues to evolve and deal with its urbanistic challenges. Be ready to walk and bring water!

We went on the Barcelona & The Sea tour and had a great time with Ricard! We loved how he explained architecture, history, and urbanism in such an engaging way. We learned a lot and had fun along the way. This is my second time to go on a BAW tour, and I will keep going every time I come to Barcelona. I would highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to get to know the city, beyond the usual touristy stuff. Thanks, Ricard! Hope to be be able to go on another BAW tour again later this year!
