Enjoy a Virtual Tour of the Jewish Quarter of Girona
Apr 2020
Can’t visit Spain due to Covid-19? Enjoy a virtual tour of one of best preserved Jewish quarters in Europe from the safety and comfort of your home using Zoom. Your tour guide, Gemma Coll Sabater, lives in Girona, speaks excellent English, and is steeped in the history and culture of the area. Using photos and her considerable knowledge, she will lead you through the quarter, pointing out landmarks, and describing what life was like in this once flourishing community, which came to an end in 1492 when the King and Queen of Spain outlawed non-Christian religions and Jews were faced with a painful choice: conversion or exile. There is ample time for Q & A at the conclusion of Gemma’s talk and submitting questions is easy thanks to a simple, intuitive, drop down form.

Thanks so much for your detailed and enthusiastic review of Gemma's talk about the history of the Jewish Quarter in Girona and for your support of our LivTalks series in general. We're so glad that you found the talk interesting and that the series can be an entertaining "substitute" for the real thing until it's possible for us all to travel again. Thank you once again. We'll be sure to let Gemma know about your nice review. Angelo and Kristin

i LIV for these TOURS
Nov 2019 • Friends
History and architecture geek here. The Sagrada Familia tour was at the top of my list when I got to Barcelona. Knowing that this is the most visited place, I booked the Early Entrance Tour for a quieter visit. Since we were the only few people allowed to enter, I got to hear key details of the history of the church and how Gaudi dedicated his life in building it. Our tour guide gave more meaning to everything I was seeing. Gave it more depth. The basilica is not a UNESCO World Heritage site for nothing. Let me tell you, there is not enough time to see every nook and cranny. The Passion Facade at the entrance is enough to hold your attention for hours. From statues to scriptures, to the contrast of the old design from the new. I found a perfect spot to just watch as the light shines through stained glass and brings the designs to life. I would have stayed at my spot but it was time to go. Hearing the church bells toll was the best finishing touch to an amazing tour.

PS: You won't believe how long the line can get at this place. Better book the early tour to avoid getting stuck on the line for hours.

Early Entrance means Less Crowd = Better Experience
Feb 2020
I like that the early entrance gives you time to appreciate the outside facade of the cathedral without being crowded by other tourists. This place is majestic even from afar. I thought just seeing the place from the outside is an experience in itself. But seeing the interior of the basilica proved me wrong. I lost track of time just taking all the sights in. Found myself in awe of stained glass designs, altars, and elaborate columns and ceilings. Being in a place with so much history and religion just mesmerizes you. And this tour gives you free time to really appreciate all that. Hats off to our guide for sharing the history of this place and making this experience one for the books!

Entering early in Sagrada Familia: Best choice!
Feb 2020
What truly makes this Church remarkable cannot be seen or truly appreciated during the day time. Where hoards and crowds harass this place continously. Early entrance does not mean 7 am, my wife and I got there comfortably at 8:30 and at 9 am we were among the first ones in with our wonderful guide. I forget the name, sorry. But the experience then is fascinating. After a true introduction at the facades as we are waiting and the history of Dali, the interior becomes reality and you can freely walk through the space. The tower climb was also very fascinating. Small group of 6, the way to go! Thank you LIvtours!

We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed our early entrance tour of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and thank you for your lovely review. Like the Vatican in Rome, the Sagrada Familia is, of course, a must see on everyone's list. Being able to get in early (but, as you said, not painfully early) means being able to really experience this awesome church. Thank you once again for your enthusiastic support of this relatively tour. Angelo and Kristin
