Good Ghost/ history tour of the Gothic Quarter
We had an overall good experience on this ghost/ history tour. Our guide was late, but we received a free drink of Cava in the meeting point bar. Marie was a pleasant guide and did a good job. Her storytelling was fair, but lacked the flair to create suspense or any air of horror that you can expect on a ghost tour. This was a missed opportunity as many aspects of the Spanish inquisition are terrifying. My wife and daughter did enjoy the experience overall, hence the 3/5 rating. Overall, for the price it was a good way to spend a couple of hours in the heart of the Gothic quarter.

      Some Enchanted Evening.
Of course, when you go to Spain, you eat paella. In my experience it’s seafood paella. Our chef took us to the market to buy only the freshest ingredients from his chosen fishmongers. We then walked a few enchanting blocks to a private kitchen, where the chef made copious amounts of sangria. In fact, after the second batch, the participants made more. I don’t remember much after this. I know that everyone participated and those who were tasked with sharp knives were told how to do that without adding a finger to the recipe.

Ewan was a wonderful tour guide.
Ewan was a fantastic guide and was very good at bringing history to life in a way that my daughter and husband even enjoyed it. I have a huge fascination with both ghosts and history, given the fact that I work in a mental health and addiction facility that has been known to be haunted.

      Highly recommended!
If you enjoy learning about food and are culture curious this is the class for you. Of chef Maia was so much more than a chef. As we walked the streets of Barcelona she pointed out historic areas, provided brief historical information and shared which market stands are for tourists and which are where the locals shop. Back in the kitchen Maia did the heavy lifting while we enjoyed sangria and helped to prep the ingredients. She patiently answered our questions and laughed along with our conversation. It felt as natural as being in my own kitchen except she cleaned up! I highly recommend this affordable experience.

      Perfect experience
The best experience to learn about cooking, have lots of drinks, tapas and most important meet new people in Barcelona! The chefs were super friendly, funny and interesting. I really enjoyed my experience as solo traveller, would 100% recommend to anyone.

      Excellent!
We were met by chef Manny at The Travellers Rest in the Gothic quarter, from there we went to the food market to purchase the ingredients needed for the paella. He gave us a fascinating history lesson on Barcelona while walking to and from the market. There were only the two of us so we had an intensive lesson while enjoying the limitless drinks on offer. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Manny was the perfect host, I can highly recommend this paella cooking course. Ten out of ten.

Fun and interesting cocktail making experience
Cocktail and tapas choice was excellent (from an informed local who considers herself a foodie). Lupe was such a good coach. Stringly recommend!

Great History tour, whether you are into ghosts or not
Really great tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. It was a great time of year for it, as the weather was perfect for walking around and it wasn't loud or crowded on the streets. The Gothic quarter at night is stunning and the tour gives you a lot of history and helpful context for the area - well worth it if you want to learn more about the city and are interested in some is the darker truths of this historical area.

      Would not recommend.
The tour guide was 45 minutes late, we got a free drink at the travel bar for the inconvenience. The guide clearly had very little historical knowledge rather the content was a series of random ramblings. For example: He stopped outside of a souvenir shop and talked about a christmas tradition, then he talked about a hollywood movie which was filmed in Barcelona. He kept complaining about how “history was boring” and “this tour is to dark”. At the end he came up with some misogynistic comment which left the crowd speechless. We didn’t really learn anything and regret the whole tour unfortunately.

      Fun, fun, fun!
Because it was January and the off season, our scheduled session was combined with an earlier one to make a larger group. Even so, there were only 3 of us, so there was ample everything: sangria, ham, cheese, anchovies and crackers to start, paella for the main and time to query Andrea, the chef. Sofia, his assistant, took us to the seafood vendor at the market to start, explaining the ingredients. The venue was big enough for 20, lots of room. Explanations were clear and amusing. Andrea clearly enjoyed the occasion as did we. No hesitation in recommending this experience.

      Excellent cooking class
We signed up for a paella cooking class through Get Your Guide last minute. Totally recommend the cooking class. We started by going to Mercat Boqueria to pick up the seafood for our paella. Then we walked to a kitchen where Andres, our chef, walked us through the process of cooking the most delicious paella we’ve ever tasted. While waiting for the paella to cook(45 mins), we got to enjoy the charcuterie board & Naomi showed us how to prepare the sangria. This cooking class was totally enjoyable & worth your time!

      Facts ARE stranger than fiction!
Our English guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We got a good dose of history to set the stage for his often disturbing stories.

Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with KiKi. Other reviewers have said that this was more wine and food than walking and history and to be fair it is weighted much more to the former than the latter but that was what we were expecting and it properly delivered. We visited d4 different locations and ate and drank like kings and queens. Each establishment offered a different taste of Spain from pinchos and vermouth, through beautiful tapas and wine, and squid ink arroz and sangria. The history and provenance of the food was really interesting and in our short strolls between locations which are relatively close together we still got chance for some historical insights from the lovely Kiki who was clearly passionate about her adopted city and great company. She couldn’t do enough to make sure her small party (there were 6 of us) were enjoying themselves

Whether first timers to this part of the world or regular visitors who just want to enjoy the beautiful Spanish cuisine in a fun and interesting way, I recommend this tour

Coming to Barcelona, we arranged for several museums and events, but we chose this tour on a whim. It will likely be one of our most memorable experiences of the trip.

The food was more than delicious and included a wide variety of dishes. The wines and vermouth, oh wow. The reds were spectacular, and the negro vermouth instantly convinced us to find more when we return home. The made-from-scratch sangria…oh the sangria…I’ve never had something more easy to overdo.

Our guide, Kiki, was one of the best parts. She is, simultaneously, vivacious and warm. Her wealth of knowledge and ability to give rich historical perspectives made the city even brighter. She has a thoughtful answer for nearly every question, and a hilarious anecdote for each question and site. It’s difficult to overstate how much she contributed to making the entire evening so memorable.

Simply put, you will not regret spending a wonderful evening tasting and touring with Kiki.

We joind this tour at 19.00. Our guide girl was wonderful. The first bar was the best in terms of the food, but
I was surprised when the rose vender man came to sell the flower to us.
We walked quite a lot, not knowing where we were heading as the next destination.
The atmosphere of the alleys in Born district was mysterious and a little scary, but
walking with 13 people as a group gave me the secure feeling.
Also, we enjoyed interesting conversation with other participants.

Extremely disappointing … the guide was totally disinterested, first stop we were given food (not very good food either) and some vermouth and then left at a table for 30 minutes, as the guide wandered off checking his phone. Then we were told we’d need to wander around for a while as the earlier group hadn’t left the next restaurant …two stops had great food, I didn’t like the tiny fried fish nor did I want to try the rose after someone in the tour group had mistakenly let the glass pouring receptacle that we were asked to share touch her mouth. The food in the two sit down restaurants was really nice and the group became more friendly so it was fun but the guide just left us to it after delivering the food. I’ve been on a lot of food tours in different cities and always enjoyed them. .. sadly this one wasn’t worth the money.

Really poor. We’ve been on food / beer / wine tours in various cities this year and it was by far the worst.

For the price, we had to share wine with strangers in the street, didn’t get any tapas on one stop because others had eaten all the food and had a dribble of sangria in the final bar and was told if we wanted any more we’d have to buy it.

Four of us were also separated in the last venue and the guide after talking to the main group came over and said “did you hear that, or do you want me to say it again”.

Not worth the money, very poor guide, food was good but scarce and very little to drink. AVOID

I'm sure our guide was incredible but the vibe among the participants was so on, that we just followed him around the city eating and drinking until our hearts' content, excited for the next stop to get to know each other better.
His earlier tour group was still hanging around the last bar since they must have had the same great experience.
Some of the food was meh, not quite most people's liking but the company made up for it. He also accommodated the vegetarians in the group.
    A fun night meeting strangers!

Really enjoyed the food tour, we were well catered for and went to some great little hidden gems. I am vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised with the variety of dishes we had. Drinks were plentiful. A good way to meet lots of people from around the world too. Johnny our guide was super friendly and knowledgable and explained some really interesting cultural and art parts to the Gothic Quarter and Barcelonas history as we walked between our venues. A great tour!

We were meant to have four stops, we only had three with no Cava, no explanation given. Our guide, Juan Carlos did not sit with us at the table while we were eating tapas to answer any questions which arose during our group conversations. The third stop was the next tapas which was just around the corner from the second stop so Juan Carlos could have taken us round the harbour with more historical chat, rather than leaving us outside to talk within the group. I asked him two questions which he was unable to answer. For the price this was very disappointing and we spent more time sitting down than walking and learning.

It’s all in the delivery. There are many tapas tours you can take but it all comes down to how did the tour guide make you feel. Like family? Like friends? Like they genuinely care about you having a good time?Roberto does all of this while entertaining you with his wit and wisdom about the tapas, wine and Catalonian culture. He’s simply the best and each of the tapas bars we went to served us delicious tapas and fabulous drinks. I would highly recommend this tour to my friends and family and actually go again.
