Overview
Learn to make Spanish tapas, traditional paella, and sangria with a Barcelona chef, then share a hearty dinner of classic local cuisine that you've made yourself. All great Spanish food starts with super fresh ingredients, and you'll begin this 2.5- to 3-hour cooking class with a guided trip though St. Josep La Boqueria market before heading to a professional teaching kitchen. This hands-on Spanish cooking class includes snacks, drinks, and dinner, and you’ll finish the night with recipes to take back to your home kitchen.
What to Expect
Meet the chef at a central location that’s just off of Las Ramblas, then start with the fresh basics of Spanish cuisine, collecting fresh seafood from the local vendors and producers at La Boqueria, one of Barcelona’s most famous markets.

From the market, continue to a cooking school in El Born district, where you’ll find an open kitchen, bar, and restaurant-style seating. Pour your first glass of sangria for the evening, then start preparing a range of tapas, or pintxos, classic Spanish small plates that are perfect paired with wine.

With a chef cooking alongside you, start preparing the traditional paella, then as the rice dish simmers on a low flame, you can learn to mix your own sangria at a short drinks-making workshop. When the paella is done, sit down to the meal you’ve prepared, savoring the rich flavor of the rice and seafood (a non-seafood meal option will be served by the chef for those who don’t eat seafood).

And if you’re not ready to finish the night, you’ll be invited to a nearby bar, where you’ll be treated to a free chupito, or shot, and enjoy drink specials throughout the evening.

Great evening

Fair warning, if you go Sunday evening, you won't get to go to the market, because they're closed. Still a fantastic value, lots of fun. Great food, fun meeting other folks in the class as well.

Great experience

Great investment for dinner drinks and an interactive cooking experience. I’m pregnant and there was no problem accommodating alternatives and my chicken paella was still lovely. Absolutely enjoyable.

Yes but if you read my review it’s not really a “participatory” experience. It’s more of a cooking demo with a few people stirring or cleaning mollusks. :/ And obviously your 14 y/o wouldn’t be drinking the sangria 😂
