Teresa was wonderful! She guided us through the tapas by region and got the conversations among the 3 groups going.
The visit to the market was fun and we stopped to taste at two booths. Teresa pointed out the best places to eat at the market and gave us her insider tips for shopping.
The cooking came together seamlessly with everyone participating up to their level of chopping, dicing and cooking comfort.
By the time the 5th bottle of wine was opened we were all new best friends.
Our meal was delicious and at the end of the 4 hour experience we had to be reminded to leave.
The only other thing I can think to mention is that the cooking studio is up 3 long flights of stairs (probably 20 steps per flight).
Also, when I signed up for the class I was given a dinner time slot (3pm-7pm, which I wanted) but was then moved to a lunch (10am-2pm) just a couple days before the class. This became a problem because I had other things scheduled and felt being bumped was unfair. However the company and I communicated and we agreed on a dinner slot on a different day.

A cooking class is not something everyone would think about when visiting another country as a tourist. But our travel agency booked this activity for us and, as foodies, my wife and I loved the whole experience! It starts off with a 30 minute tour of La Boqueria market and learning about what it's about and some of the ingredients found there. Then we headed back to the office/kitchen for tapas and cooking. Our group was 9 people and it was not overwhelming at all. We were all able to received instructions well, and our chef, Theresa, was very informative and fun! The cooking part was fun to do together and the food came out delicious! We had tapas and cava to start before we started the actual cooking. By the end, we had made paella, Spanish omelette and a creme brulee! It was definitely a fun and intimate type of experience while learning about Spanish food.

This was by far the best thing I did in Barcelona. I'm an avid cook and love Mediterranean cuisine, and this experience was more than I expected. Our Chef and host, Gretel, took us on an informative tour of the market where we were given samples of classic Spanish ingredients and learned about the different specialties in each region of Spain. We were then brought back to the beautiful cooking and dining space where we were taught to make authentic seafood paella, tortilla and Catalan cream. Gretel and her team were kind and knowledgeable, and they created a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the wine was always flowing! It was the best way to spend my last day in Spain. Thank you so much Gretel and team!

Signed up for the full class + walking tour. The class was misleading because it included a "tasting menu" with 10 tapas. The tapas were all very small and on top of that it was all cold. Didn't seem like it was freshly prepared. Only nice part was the paella cooking. I think this class is overpriced given the cold and small tapas that were provided.

I can't say enough positive things about this experience. Janelle was a great tour guide and teacher; she made bringing the meal together fun and fully immersive, as we had to engage each of our senses throughout it. It was cool to get to "learn the ropes" and see the sights at La Boqueria before the class so that we could know how to navigate it upon our return later. The tapas, wine and sherry we were served as the class began were wonderful. I never thought I'd try and actually enjoy octopus, but I did. With Janelle's guidance and instruction, we made paella, bread with tomato, tortilla and Catalon cream. If I do say so myself, we did a good job. :-) This is a great activity for anyone looking to do something different and engaging.

Alfredo and Greta were so nice and personable - we felt welcomed immediately. The food was great, the atmosphere was lively and fun. We were a larger group with ages from 14 to 78 and we all had a good time. Perfect family experience, highly recommended.

My family of four (two adults and two teenagers) did the La Boqueria Market and Cooking Class and had a great time. The chef and assistant were very friendly. The tour of the market was informative and not too long, and the cooking class itself was terrific. Delicious food and very informative. The other people in the class were fun to meet. Highly recommend.

We had such fun.
the market was great to see - with an experienced local chef like Janella, it was a great intro (will be going back for sure).
The cooking class itself was full of local stories and explanations - learnt so much!
We had a great prepping and cooking, and many a glass of wine!
The company was fantastic, the food was excellent and we have made great memories!

Prepare your taste buds for a culinary journey as you maneuver through all of the kiosks in La Boqueria.
Everything you can think of is at your fingertips from Iberico ham and amazing fresh seafood to sausage made from ostrich.
This market is a must do if you are in Barcelona!

We enjoyed a Paella Cooking class with Just Royal Bcn very much.
First we went to Boqueria Market to choose all ingredients then to a beautiful kitchen in second floor historic building.
Upon our arrival tapas were ready. Explanation of each tapa and area of Spain was interesting.
Friendly and Charismatic Chef Alfredo was patient in explaining and teaching the steps for all the dished to prepare. It was nice to have as small group of 10.
Fun experience from 10 am 3 pm. Highly recommended.
We stayed in Grand Hotel Central, deluxe room 605, corner room with view of the Gothic Wall. Hotel is within walking distance to Gothic district. Very modern and convenient. Elevator, very fast wifi and breakfast buffet included.

This place isnt large enough. I would think any more than 8 people would dilute the experience.

How many dishes am I going to learn?
Am I going to get a written recipe later?
And what's the maximum capacity of the class?
Thank you.

We made 3 dishes but we learned how to make a bunch of tapas before. They sent the recipes later. We did the class with 6 people.

Check it all out at Just Royal Bcn. I think we met right at the building on Plaça Reial. Then did a shopping trip at la BoquerÃa, which is sensory overload in a good way.
