- hc5550 contributionsHighlight of our trip to Spain! As part of our trip to Barcelona, our travel agent scheduled a half day hike of Montserrat for my wife and I. We were picked up at our hotel in Barcelona, and made the trip to Montserrat about 45 minutes away. Not sure what to expect, we set out with our two guide (Fermi and Frank) on the Western face of the mountain. Having singled us out as "being in good shape", we embarked on the hike of a lifetime, pushing us physically, for an amazing day. Steep climbs were rewarded with amazing views. Our guides were kind and made us feel safe, in addition to providing water and orienteering advice. On our descent, we had a wonderful lunch on a mountain crag with views to die for. The descent was as exciting as the ascent, and the hike is one that we will always remember.Written July 23, 2019
- jfc260 contributionsFantastic hike along the beautiful Costa BravaMy wife and I just got back from a wonderful day out hiking with Fermi. Fermi picked us up at our hotel in the company van, which was new, clean and air conditioned. We drove to Fosca to begin our hike along the magnificently beautiful coastline. The views were spectacular! The hike was a mix of beach and dirt trail with an easy pace. Midway through we stopped at a small idyllic beach for a refreshing swim. It was an incredible day and the best part of our Barcelona trip!Written July 4, 2019
- F2447WIcatherine0 contributionsIncredible experience at MontserratThis tour was highly recommended by a friend. We loved it ourselves. Fermi is an excellent guide. He's patient, knowledgeable, and tries to make it fun for everyone. We enjoyed hiking up multiple peaks and seeing a lot of different views. The hiking was challenging, but not difficult. We ate a delicious lunch at a great sport with incredible views. If you like hiking and enjoying nature, this is a perfect activity.Written June 20, 2019
- George F0 contributionsAmazing walk at MontsenyWe walked from Figaro up the mountain to the old St Cristoff chapel and up to the old holm oak tree. The guide was superb. He walked us at a our own pace, was very knowledgeable, helpful and well-equipped. He was reserved and not excessively chatty. Then we stopped for a delicious lunch at Can Plans farmhouse. We were treated with care by our host who even cared to prepare a special meal for my wife who cannot eat certain foods. It was a friendly special meal by the fire. Then, our guide Fermi, led us back to the village through a shorter route. This was the best experience we ever had in walking around Baecelona. We will return for other walks and I recommend these walks to anyone. (Just be prepared to walk and walk and enjoy).Written January 6, 2019
- familyguy0 contributionsAn amazing hikeOur family of five ranging in age from 30 to 73 hiked Montserrat with Fermi who not only made sure we were safe but made the hike an enjoyable and most memorable experience. I would highly recommend this hike - the view from above the clouds was spectacular and although exhausting, it was worth every sore muscle the next dayWritten December 28, 2018
- Rebekah C0 contributionsMountserratWhat a great experience. Mountserrat was one of the highlights of my barcelona trip. The monestsry was stunning. Ferme had so much great information about the monestary & the hermatages. The hike was so awesome. Soo many beautiful views!! I will recommend them to anyone who visits Barcelona :)Written November 20, 2018
- Traveler344333275030 contributionsMost Memorable Hike and Part of Our VacationMe and my boyfriend love exercise and outdoors. I thought seeing the monastery and then hiking at the national park behind it for the rest of the day would be a great way to see the nature of the area, and something different from New York hikes. It was amazing! And I would do it again. We couldn't have done it on our own, Fermi knew all the trails and the best places to go, and pointed out history of the land and rock formations. Most people hiking spoke Catalan. There was very few tourists, which was great- I felt like a local hiking the local land! It was supposed to be a small group- turned out only me and my boyfriend signed up (so very small group) for that day so it was like we had a private lesson. It worked out perfectly since we are both the same level of fit, and did every trail on that map! Fermi accommodates the hike according to the fitness level of the participants. He is an excellent tour guide, he knows hiking and rock climbing in and out. Trescant he told us by the way means "hiking happily." That's the key - just being joyful, content and happy hiking. And that really embodied this tour and who Fermi is. And I think somewhat of a celebrity on that mountain. We saw some of his students during the hike and even got to climb a bit on ropes. He taught us too how to traverse down some rocks also. We literally hiked for 5 hours +. My legs were shaking at the end but it was worth it. There were fresh blueberries and raspberries growing on the trees, and we picked and ate them along with figs that we can find growing as well. We ate lunch at a hermitage, and Fermi told us all about the hermitages and "hippies climbers" that rocks climb for days and stay in the hermitages. He got us sandwiches, fruit and these chocolate covered rice cakes. The food was great and I went back to the bakery he went to the next day to get another one of those sandwiches. The views on top of the mountain are breathtaking: of people parasailing from peak to peak, rock climbing all over and spectacular views of the surrounding land. And of course besides seeing the monastery we got to spend some time at the gift shop and buy some monk made wine and alcohol! And there is also a little food fair where vendors come and sell cheese, honey etc. We bought some delicious honey and these nut chewy round bar things that Fermi gave us as a energy boost during the hike. If you love the outdoors and want to see something different and spectacular and have a unique experience do this! You won't be disappointed.Written November 7, 2018
- Kellibaker170 contributionsBest part of my trip to BCN!! Highly recommended!!!I signed up for the group hike but it ended up just being myself and Fermi. From the beginning, Fermi was very welcoming and outgoing and made sure to point out certain landmarks on our way to Monserrat. Once there, we took a tour of the monastery and then made our way up the funicular to the top. We were lucky enough to see a herd of mountain goats so we made our way to the top of the mountain to get a better glimpse. The views are absolutely stunning. Fermi made sure to point out different aspects of the trail and the area, as a whole, which was much appreciated. As we descended, it became a bit more difficult but we made it down the mountain. I would caution beginners or people with limited mobility to tell Fermi up front so he can tailor your hike to your needs. I'd rate my hike as moderate to difficult which I did not expect, but none the less enjoyed the challenge which only made it more fun. If you are in BCN for an extended stay and want to take a break from Gaudi and the city life, I highly recommend taking in nature and the stunning views of Montserrat with Fermi-he's a pro!Written June 9, 2018
- Kenneth T0 contributionsBest choice I made in my trip to Barcelona!Thank You Trescant for the wonderful guidance up to Puigmal! For a 1st timebtrekker, Fermi was patient and mapped the route we took to perfection and let me to the summit in very good timing. Since we reach the Puigmal 1 hour faster than expected, Fermi suggested we take another summit before we take lunch. That was a wonderful suggestion! The route to the second summit gave me a GREAT surprise! I saw SNOW!!! Thank You for giving me such a wonderful memory and converting me to a Trekker!!Written October 19, 2017
- mattgarvey0 contributionsGood guided hikeWhile visiting Barcelona we booked a day hiking in Montserrat. It was a small group with another couple and we really enjoyed it. Our guide put us through our paces in a 16km hike that took in great views and history. Not for those seeking a lazy stroll I recommend it to keen walkers. Good value. We were out of the city the whole day.Written October 3, 2017

This a great walk that is expertly guided by Fermi. He is very knowledgable and passionate about the Monserrat region. You will need a little bit of fitness, but as any good guide does, he goes at your pace. The provided lunch was tasty.
If you want to find the hidden gems of this area. the i cannot recommend them enough.

We booked this tour knowing we might get lost if we tried to navigate the hike on our own. Boy were we correct! It was an unbelievable, impeccably planned hike and tour of Montserrat. From the picnic lunch (which was so good we returned to the same bakery the next day to order again and found that there was a queue a block long just to get the same sandwiches) to the patient and incredibly knowledgable and skilled guide. The hike itself definitely required good tread hiking boots tho I believe the guide would have adapted to the tour had we not had the proper footwear. The views and pace were amazing. The guide made sure we toured the "black Madonna" before the crowds came and we avoided the hour and a half queue to see the Madonna touring it before the massive crowds arrived to the monastery. Highly, highly recommend this tour with this guide. Only regret is that we didn't also book the Costa Brava tour that they also offer. oh well, next time!!!

We had the most excellent experience. A terrific full day hike that took us to the church and then up through the mountains. Although it was foggy, it was still terrific and Ferme encouraged us to be adventurous. After lunch his encouragement paid off with the sun breaking through and the fog lifting. Ferme was skilled and helpful to every member of our group which was much appreciated. Couldn’t speak highly enough about the day... just do it.

If you love outdoors, this is a MUST. Our group of 5 hiked with Fermi in late May. We would never have experienced the trails like we did without his expertise. He knows that mountain well and guided us through an adventurous hike. You can take an "easier way" or the "not so easy" way. We chose "not so easy" and LOVED it. We felt safe and scrambled on the rocks. Excellent lunch was included and we even saw mountain goats. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We had a wonderful trip with Fermi to Montserrat, he guided us safely in the mountains and told us about it’s history in a very interesting way! Even if we were only two singed for the trip, he didn’t canceled the trip!

If you are in Barcelona, this is a must do. Sure, you gotta be prepared for the hike, it is several hours after all - it's relatively easy hiking though. The views are to die for especially on a clear day. Simply gorgeous. Cinto our guide was very patient with us and made sure we were good and safe. He had everything you would need for this hike, water, hiking poles, jackets etc. His accent is a tad heavy so one has to focus a bit on what he is saying - loved his impersonation of Napoleon! lol

This was a fabulous day spent with a friendly, upbeat guide fermi. Hike was challenging for me, but in a good way. He also brought the best picnic lunch ever! This trip was the high point of all my time in Barcelona area and I had plenty of amazing experiences in this town. Don’t miss this chance to see Monserrat on foot.
