Wonderful Day Exploring Gran Canaria’s Pretty Villages, History & Spectacular Mountains With Two Delightful Experienced
We are a mobile couple in our 70s and Ines & Juanjo made us very welcome and looked after us admirably all day. Juanjo was a safe driver navigating some narrow roads as we climbed. They were both very knowledgeable about Gran Canaria’s history of the island going back to the cave dwellers and how they lived. We visited an information centre detailing the lives of the cave dwellers and how the Europeans conquered the island and what came next. We visited the villages of Fataga & Tejeda, the latter being voted the prettiest in Spain, which it certainly is. There’s a wonderful shop selling lots of almond products made from the trees that abound in this area. We drove up to the highest point on the island with the most spectacular views which feels like the top of the world. We stopped at a picnic site and Ines produced some very tasty homemade tapas, wine and water and a digestive of honey rum which was delicious. We were only 4 on the trip so the minibus was very comfortable and all in all a very enjoyable day and well worth booking.

      Book this tour!
Inés and Juanjo are absolutely amazing at what they do. The entire day was more of a full experience than just a tour, enriched by their passion as locals as well as a true love for the environment and history of the island. The transport (Lupita) was exceptionally comfortable and we were regaled with wonderful stories and music throughout our journey. The hike is made all the easier knowing Inés and Juanjo have travelled these paths thousands of times and know the most appropriate and safest routes to the most beautiful locations according to guests abilities. The picnic was a highlight for sure, having reached one of the most beautiful locations we have ever seen and is just by itself an amazing experience. Each stop along the way only made the tour even better, with rich history and scenery hand picked to leave us with lasting memories of the true beauty of Gran Canaria. We would 100% recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see Gran Canaria at its finest, and we hope to return to try some more of their different tours, which all sound amazing. To top it all off, Inés and Juanjo are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Why are you still reading? Book now!!! 😄

Fun and informative tour for a taste of Gran Canaria in a nutshell
Ines and Juan are two Gran Canaria locals, very passionate and knowledgeable about their island. The tour ticked all the boxes and exceeded my expectations! We hiked, we admired landscapes, we listened to music, had a gourmet picnic lunch, and learned loads about Gran Canaria - all in the company of fun but very professional and experienced guides who did their best to make our tiny group feel like family. If, like me, you only have a short time to see Gran Canaria, this chill, fun, and informative tour is a great option! And if you have more time, it might be a good way to start exploring the island. Either way, I recommend this tour and Sky Rebels.

      Fun small group tour
This was a special tour, with great energy, and a fun story was told that included you. The small group concept is great, and I’m really glad there were no commercial stops at all! If you are an avid naturalist then perhaps the level of detail could have been greater. For me this was more a positive than a negative.

Interesting ancient site if you don't mind a walk up a (usually windy) hill.
If you need something local to do before a flight home, check out this ancient site. It's free for a start, and fairly close to the airport. The site itself is composed of 4 separate structures - the first is the Cueva de Cuatro Puertas (cave of the 4 doors) and is a small cave carved out of the hillside with views over to Las Palmas. Follow the steps up the hillside and turn right at the first information sign. Then walk up to the top of the hill (there's no fixed path so watch your step) to see the circular carved area that was used for libations (it's known as Almogarén). Come back down to the first sign and turn right, going round the other side of the hill to the Cueva de los Papeles (cave of the papers). There's a railing to stop you falling over the edge and this has been improved over the last year with a painted concrete foundation so it feels a lot safer. In order to access the last set of dwellings, the Cueva de los Pilares (cave of the pillars) you'll have to climb over a few rough-hewn steps and then walk along a more treacherous path but the views and the location are worth it. There are many theories about how old the site is, but most agree that it dates back to the Guanches, the first humans to settle the islands after migrating from the Berber tribe in north west Africa, although it's been used as a dwelling and animal storage into thr 20th Century. If you find it a bit windy going up the hill, it's usually calm on the other side (where the last 2 sets of caves are) and it's not a site to visit easily if you're unsteady on your feet. Be aware that someone lives on the house at the top of the hill, just before you get to the caves, so be courteous and don't block his exit or trespass in his clearly-marked garden - follow directions to the caves and then park just before the post box that signifies the start of his driveway. The path then continues up to the caves and past his house, which is also charming to look at as you go past. In all, an interesting excursion if you like aboriginal history, don't mind a scramble across rocks, and have time to spare. Just be sure to take the first turning right as you leave or else you'll get stuck in a one way section and have to turn back.

      Wonderful tour of Gran Canaria.
What a fantastic tour by two local Canarians. Inez and Juan and not forgetting Lupita were entertaining , informative and great fun. They collected us and returned us to our cruise ship promptly. In between from North to South we saw amazing scenery, clouds, plants, biodiversity. The lunch was excellent and tailored to our requirements. We totally recommend this tour.

      Roque Nublo is a must
Inés and Juanjo are a lovely couple passionate about their country. The way they (including Lupita) bring you along the tour is exceptional. They share a lot of Canarian history with us and we learn way more than expected on our tour to Roque Nublo and the other places on the tour. I would definitely book them next time we visit Gran Canaria and recommend their well prepared tours to family and friends. Thanks Inés for the exceptional lunch provided on the tour with the wine and the chosen place to eat. This tour is worth every cent.

One of the best tours we’ve been on
We were lucky and we were the only 2 people on the tour therefore it made the experience even better. The whole day was planned out really well and Ines and Juanjo were very knowledgeable and gave us lots of local information. Despite a slight traffic jam at Roque Nublo (which Ines and Juanjo sorted out!) it was smooth running. The lunch that was provided was homemade and tasty with local produce. Lupita was very comfortable and kept us safe. We would highly recommend going on tours with Sky Rebels!

      This is a MUST experience!
This tour was THE highlight of my 5 day visit to Gran Canaria! Ines and Juanjo have created something quite magical with their tour; a great combination of natural and cultural history with a mischievous sense of quirky silliness that was really enjoyed. The hike itself was beautiful and the plants; flowers and waterfalls breath-taking. I felt super relaxed after this experience even though we had trekked 8km. If I return to Gran Carnaria, I will definitely be booking another of their tours! Can't recommend this experience enough! Gracias!

      A magical island tour
We had a fabulous - magical in fact ;-) -day out with Ines and Juan (and Lupita!) visiting Roque Nublo and many other local sites around the island (highest point, local village, etc). The team are friendly and professional, and so knowledgable about the island. I was very glad that Juan was driving those skinny mountain roads! Incredible views and inspiring beauty. We stopped in the forest for a lunch prepared by Ines - what a feast of local dishes! I highly recommend this tour guide duo, it really is the best way to see the island. Thank you both for a wonderful experience.

Views from the highest points of Gran Canaria
I wholeheartedly echo the sentiments expressed in the numerous 5-star reviews for Sky Rebels' tours led by Juanjo and Inés (and Lupita). While these day trips may come at a slightly higher cost compared to others on Gran Canaria, the immersive and captivating experiences they offer are worth every cent. As a solo traveler, I joined both the Roque Nublo and Unesco Sacred Mountains tours, and my satisfaction was beyond measure. The small and intimate group setting, coupled with Inés' delectable homemade tapas-style lunch, added an extra layer of delight to the journey. From breathtaking vistas to the couple's profound knowledge of the island and its indigenous people, the Canarios, which they generously shared throughout the tours, every element was meticulously curated. The pacing was also 'Just Right,' leaving me with a sole 'complaint'—the missed opportunity to partake in more tours. Without a doubt, I will be returning for additional adventures with Sky Rebels in the future.

The slot canyons and caves were amazing. Really a wonderful experience. What tarnished this experience was the juvenile drama class approach of a talking van, weird voices with time travel, and stupid gags which seemed to minimize the significance of a geological wonder and indigenous authenticity. It seemed demeaning to the beauty we experienced, and we would have valued a more respectful approach. The farm house visit at the end felt intrusive, and it was obvious we were anxious to make the most of our time, as the guide and home owner sat and discussed in Spanish, while the rest of us stood patiently waiting to continue. Vacationers have limited time and this 20 minutes was wasted. The guides never did introduce themselves, and we felt this tour could have been better.

Good afternoon Diane, We're going to take a deep breath and count to ten before we respond to the most unfortunate and rude comment we've ever received. When we read your comment, it seems to us that we live in parallel worlds: In our world, after the trip, you said goodbye to us with a hug, a big tip (25$!), and begged us to send you a link to write a review. In your world, it seems from your words that you had the most horrible experience with us (in fact, we don't understand why you rate us with 4 stars). As a company, we can understand that you didn't like the experience; we assume that not everyone should like us. But your rude language and the fact that you lie when you say that we, the guides, didn't introduce ourselves, totally discredit your words. What definitely demeaned this experience is that you spent the whole activity chattering, instead of listening, and disturbing, by the way, the rest of the participants. BUT, WHAT WE WILL NOT TOLERATE, under any circumstances, IS YOU INSULTING A LOCAL PERSON WHO HAS NO CONNECTION TO OUR BUSINESS, who has opened her home to you, has given you the fruit she produces to try, has tried to interact with you (even if it is in Spanish), and has even let you use her bathroom. That is called "kindness" in our country; and your comment about "intrusive" and "20 minutes of wasted time" is a total lack of respect to this person and to the Canarian local way of life. (By the way, in that discussion that bothers you so much, this person was expressing condolences for the recent death of a member of our family). We demand that you rectify your words immediately. Inés & Juanjo

We traveled with the two of them as a family of 6, aged between 10 and 64. The 3 places we visited were Barranco de las Vacas, better known as the "Instagram Gorge" - a cave of the native Canarians, and the village of Temisas. Definitely not tourist hotspots (apart from the gorge, which is visited early in the morning before the rush begins - we were there alone) but more of the "real" Gran Canaria.

The two of them know a lot about the Canaries and Gran Canaria in particular (we now know why it's called "Gran" Canaria) and it was a lot of fun.

Even though the tour was "only" English and some of the English we learned at school was a few years ago, we were still able to understand everything very well.

Recommendation: sturdy shoes and easy to do with children of school age and above. There are a few meters of elevation to be conquered on foot and the caves are a bit more cramped.

We would do a tour with Sky Rebels again at any time, perhaps on our next trip to Gran Canaria.

    P.S.
The special effects involving the third crew member 😉 add extra value to the tour - but it could be that you only experience this with children, I don't know.

The guides, Ins and Juanjo, made this trip very interesting and interactive with the “time travel” concept and stories they would tell you whilst travelling to each location. They were also very helpful in advising me as to my travel to meet them etc, and I’m very grateful for that extra help they gave me.

Timing for visiting each place was impeccable! We visited Barranco De Las Vacas before 9am, and there was nobody there. We had the place to ourselves for half an hour, which was amazing as we seen how quickly it fills up with tourists. Likewise at the secret caves near Aguimes, we were the only ones there for a full hour.

Ins had a lot of information about the culture and geology of each area, and was very good at answering all the questions our group had to ask.

I preferred that this trip was a smaller group of 6, as opposed to the larger group trips I’ve previously been on. It made the trip feel more personal, and created the family feeling that they aimed for.

Overall an amazing trip, and would definitely book another trip with these guides! Thank-you for helping me create lovely memories 🤍

It was just amazing! We did not expect what we got: the most funny and friendly guides, the most interesting stories of Gran Canaria and they chose three amazing locations. We did not know that we would be able to see an historical cave from the inside!
One of the best parts for me were the Details they planned. They played amazing, fitting music in the car, which gave me goosebumps, while driving through the beautiful landscape (especially the national anthem of Gran Canaria).
We learned so much during that trip. It was just great!

Excellent experience. Views of caves and the canyon is great. The SkyRebels team were amazing and had great knowledge of the indigenous population that lived in the caves. The views offered in this trip are a great alternative to a beach-holiday.

We did the three excursions that Sky Rebels has to get to know the sites of Gran Canaria in a more personal way, and I am glad we decided to stick with them and do all the tours they offer, it was a great experience.

On this excursion we visited the Barranco de las Vacas, a very picturesque place where we were able to take several photos.

Then came the surprises, we went on a short walk to some hidden caves that blew us away.
Finally we visited a very windy beach where we could see surfers practising windsurfing.
It was a great day, no doubt.

The tour guides, Juanjo and Inés are super nice and personable and know their Canary Islands history. They made it a very interesting and fun trip for us.

Many thanks to Inés, Juanjo and of course Lupita!

A lovely experience with two oh sorry three very knowledgeable guides they are extremely passionate about there work and country. Without them we would not of found these amazing hide aways we learnt so much history about the island.
Not sure about the whole Time Machine and passion for your car thing , though appreciate where you was coming from but didn’t feel it is necessary you have enough enthusiasm and energy with out it.
Would of been nice to off been able to have a nice cold drink at the village we visited as it was a very hot day .
We would highly recommend this trip you will learn so much and be amazed with what you find and see.
Wear good shoes and be off a reasonable fitness.

This was a superb 4 hour tour in a small group bus allowing good interaction with fellow punters as well as the guides. I booked specifically for the first stop at the picturesque rock formations, but the caves were also an unexpected delight. The narrative on the tour really brought the history of the area to life and it was lovely to see the rural village too. Snack lunch is provided which was very welcome. A reasonable level of fitness is required and don’t forget to bring water.

Overall, the cave trip in Gran Canaria was a good experience, and I’d give it 4 stars. The scenery and the experience of exploring the caves were great, and we enjoyed the outing as a group of three couples aged mid-30s to mid-50s. However, there was one aspect of the trip that felt a bit out of place: the driver’s commentary.

Throughout the trip, the driver spoke in a childish, overly silly voice and used a box they called a “Time Machine.” While this might be entertaining for children, it felt strange and, frankly, irritating for our group of adults. If we’d had younger kids with us, I could understand the approach, but for an audience of adults, it didn’t really fit the tone of the trip.

I was also hoping to learn more about the history of the islands and the lives of the locals, but the focus on the gimmicky “childish” narrative detracted from what could have been a more enriching experience.

Additionally, I’ve read reviews from other visitors who mentioned similar concerns, and I agree with them. I also noticed that the guides responded to that feedback in a rather defensive and dismissive way, even “slagging off” the person who left the review. I think this is a missed opportunity for improvement. Feedback is valuable, and instead of taking it as an offence, the guides could see it as a chance to refine their approach and cater more appropriately to their audience.
