About
We have been running personalised tours to Jerez with great success since 2002 for people who love food and wine. We take you to visit two great wineries where you will get the chance to taste a wide range of fine sherries and as well as vermouth, sherry vinegar and some excellent brandies. In the first winery we'll take you around cathderal-like buildings and explain the unique sherry-making process tasting different styles of sherry as we walk around. You'll also taste some vermouth and sherry vinegar. At the second boutique winery you'll get to taste some more great sherry wines and some of the best brandy in Spain straight from the cask! With this newly acquired knowledge of sherry we then head off to a great local restaurant for lunch and more wine! There'll be time for a stroll around the old quarter of Jerez before heading back to Seville. We are sure you will agree with most of the world's top wine critics who say that sherry is the most underrated fine wine in the world.

#6 of 110 Food & Drink in Seville
- Stelefalie00Highlight of our trip!We had a lovely meal in a super setting. The outstanding food worked so well with tasting the wine. Roger brings wine to life and the choices of wine to taste, talk about and compare were made perfectly. This was a highlight of our trip to Seville and we were a party of six but I can see this working well in slightly larger groups too.
- DavidWit00A Wine Tour of GaliciaFollowing an excellent sherry tasting trip to Jerez in 2018 with Roger from A Question of Taste, we decided to do a wine tasting trip to Galicia with him. We have just completed the twice postponed trip (due to Covid) and it exceeded our expectations. We chose Galicia because it was an area of Spain we didn't know and also knew very little about the wines of the region. Roger made all the arrangements for hotels, wine tours, meals and additional attractions. He drove us throughout the region, stopping to see some amazing sights and we stayed in three different towns. Roger met me and three companions late one evening at Santiago de Compostela railway station, the less said about the Spainish railways the better! He took us to our hotel and the next day we started our four day tour. We visited wineries in Rias Baixis, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Valdeorras and El Bierzo. We visited two or three wineries each day punctuated by lunch in a local restaurant and a periodic visit to a historic site to break up the wine tours. The hotels were very comfortable, including one Parador, and each night we had a delicious evening meal of local cuisine in a different restaurant. At the end of our trip, Roger dropped us at the airport. The highlights were the Ribeira Sacra region where we had a boat trip on the river and saw up close the vines growing on very steep hillsides, and the fact that at most of the wineries we were shown round by and talked to the owner and wine maker, so we were able to discuss the wines and the challenges they face in making the wines. Roger was very knowledgeable about the area and the wines and had an excellent relationship with the producers. The whole trip was very well organised and was one of the best wine tours we have been on. We are now planning a trip to Rioja with Roger.
- Hugh H00Complete Excellent Jamon Tour ExperienceRoger is a great tour guide, host. He has a great relationship with to site hosts which opened up the people interaction; the pig farm is very real, authentic, providing insight; Roger’s knowledge gave us a complete understanding when he toured us through the cure rooms; his lunch restaurant experience selection is perfect - great local Spanish cuisine and people. Chatting with Roger in the drive about Spain, Jamin, and various subjects is great fun; we learned a lot!.
- TimmyP195300Great introduction to sherry and tapasThis was our first evening in Seville and friends had booked a tour with Roger, AQOT. It really was an excellent experience, the four tapas bars we visited were varied and offered a range of dishes from fish to iberico ham and cheeses. The accompanying drinks, sherry and wine came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Roger is a very personable and professional guide, you cannot help but finish your experience as friends.
- olivep6100Unquestionably great taste, thanks Roger!Roger is incredibly knowledgeable about everything to do with wine and food in the Seville area. He's been doing this for over 20 years and still takes evident joy and interest in what he does. We spent an evening with him discovering the tapas bars of the city - all of them charming with typical and terrific tasting tapas. He doesn't just do tapas - his 'thing' is wine and he will be your own personal google about the bodegas and wineries of Spain. I highly recommend him.
- madeleineb_1200A wonderful eveningWe had a wonderful evening with Roger who is an engaging host. He selected some interesting and tasty wines, including some from his personal cellar. The food pairings were well selected and he talked us through each wine knowledgeably (with occasional maps).
- Valerie A00Best Part of our TripMy husband and I took a trip to Seville with our other two friends. We were in Seville for 3 days and were interested in a wine tasting experience. We are very glad we found Roger and AQOT! Unfortunately, the restaurant where the tasting and dinner are typically held was closed that day, but that actually turned out to be for the better! Instead Roger met us at our hotel and took us to 4 tapas places in the neighborhood and we tried wines, Iberian ham and tapas. Roger has lived in Spain for 30 years and was very knowledgeable about Spanish lifestyle and culture and it was great to get that firsthand experience through the local food. We went to some local hidden gems and ordered foods we never would have thought to try. He gave us just the right amount of information about sherry making and the process of farming Iberian ham. Roger was also a great guy to spend time with. Easily the highlight of our trip!
- Christine R00Great evening!Thank you Roger for spending the time with us. We learnt lots about Spanish wine/sherry and tapas paring. Good food, good wine & good company!
- I545YUkaym00Much more than piggy bits!Roger collected us from our Seville hotel and the conversation didn’t stop until he dropped us back. With knowledge of Spain collected over 35 years Roger not only gave us a memorable Iberian Ham Tour but also lots of information that made the rest of our Andalusian tour extra special, including sherry tasting, the white villages around Ronda and helping us secure a table in a 2star Michelin restaurant. Don’t have breakfast! you will need room for the delicious Spanish tortilla and home reared ham served at the farm, after walking the beautiful countryside side to see the evergreen and cork oqk trees. Most of the breeding pigs were in the farm as we just missed the acorn season so we got to meet them close up. The factory tour was really interesting and seeing the 1000’s of hams breathtaking before a guided tasting of the different cuts of ham with sherry. At the restaurant we were served a variety of hams and sausages, that Roger’s explained followed by wild asparagus we later saw growing just off the roadside , then different cuts of pork a particularly favourite was the tender cheeks all washed down with some Spanish wine selected by Roger. We have been on many tours but this one was particularly memorable as it felt so personal due to the close relationship Roger has developed with the locals we felt welcome at each place and the lovely lady of mature years who made us the tortilla will have a special memory in my heart. Roger we can’t wait to return to Spain and ask you to share more of your knowledge with us, thank you so much for making the day a true highlight of our holiday.
- kellibC1580OT00Excellent Wine Tasting and MealMy husband and I had a wonderful experience with Roger and A Question of Taste. He was clearly knowledgeable about Spanish wine, food, and culture. He helped explain the differences in Spanish wine versus others and brought pictures of wineries in Spain so that we could see exactly what he was referring to. The food pairing and dinner was excellent. The food items that he chose to pair with our wine were delicious and were the perfect foods to consume with the wine that we tasted. We would have never picked out such perfect pairings on our own, so we are grateful to have booked this tasting with Roger. If you are in Seville and looking for a wine tasting with excellent food then look no further than Roger and A Question of Taste.
- JenU25800Perfect foodie day out from SevilleWhat a fantastic day out! Roger is do knowledgeable and personable. The scenery was beautiful and we loved visiting the working farm to see the pigs. The lady who hosted us was so welcoming. The ham drying process was fascinating too. The lunch was out of this world, followed by a nice walk to the castle. Genuinely a perfect day for us. Thank you 🙏🏻
- olearyer00One of the highlights of our trip!I surprised my boyfriend with Roger's Iberian ham tour for his birthday. This full day (about 9am-4:30pm) was one of the highlights of our trip! The drive out from Seville was beautiful, and Roger was so friendly and engaging, even sharing his knowledge with us about local culture, cork harvesting, wine, and more. His connections with the local farms, producers, and restaurants made this a really unique experience. We loved tracking down the grazing pigs at Pollonia's farm, and enjoying her homemade tortilla with wine and iberico - it doesn't get much more 'farm to table' than this! The factory tour in Jabugo was very informative, and we used our knew knowledge on identifying the grades of ham on the remainder of our trip. Lunch at Jose Vicente in Aracena was fantastic - don't eat a big breakfast and make sure to save room for course after course of delicious food, several of which featured different preparations of the Iberico ham. The ribs are outstanding! If you're up for it, walk off your lunch by meandering up to the church at the top of the hill, and be rewarded with a beautiful panorama of the surrounding landscape. We'll remember this tour fondly!
- I4812FNdavidb00Wonderful tapas in Seville! This was our second tour with Roger, following a really enjoyable day in Sanlucar de Barrameda a couple of years ago. Again we had a really enjoyable, interesting time. Roger is very well informed and has identified interesting, high quality places to visit that are off the regular tourist trail. Roger is very good company and shares his knowledge and experience in a relaxed, easy going way. The end result feels like a walk around their neighbourhood with a well informed friend, rather than a formal tour.
- M7235YRianm00Private Sherry Tasting LunchWhat a fabulous day! Four of us and Roger for lunch and Sherry tasting, in Seville. Hugely knowledgeable, Roger took us from white wine made with the Palomino grape, to the whole range of sherries. The food pairing was excellent, allowing us better to grasp the niceties of each sherry type, and we had plenty to eat and to drink. Great company, great wine and really good food. The event was the highlight of our trip, and we will go back to Roger on the next visit - for olive oil tasting, a ham tour, or just more sherry!
- williammH2898MB00Amazing tour, highly recommendMy girlfriend and I did the Iberian ham tour with Roger. It was a full day between the farm, ham factory and lunch and probably the most memorable day of our entire trip. He was very knowledgeable about the region and local cuisine, and his relationships with local farmers, factories and restaurants created an experience which would be impossible to replicate otherwise. Much more than just a tour, truly a memorable experience.

Roger picked us up near our Airbnb in Seville and drove us to Jerez to visit two sherry bodegas.
The first stop was at one of the large well known sherry houses. Roger used the barrels in the warehouses to detail the sherry making process (solera). And, a unique well lit barrel with glass ends enabled a perfect view of the 'Flor' mold layer.
Our second stop was at a smaller bodega where could not only taste from bottles, but also from the barrels. This provided a unique opportunity to directly experience the magic maturation of sherry. We were also afforded time with the owner of the bodega, and the discussions provided great insight into the business of sherry.
We concluded the tour with a superb lunch in the Jerez old town.
Roger is a superb tour guide with vast knowledge of sherry and Spanish history.

Roger was just fantastic. I'm a WSET Diploma student and wanted more information than a standard tour could provide and Roger delivered that in spades. His knowledge of Sherry was superb, not only in terms of how it is made but, importantly for me, how the region has developed over time and what the market trends are.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone with a love of Sherry, especially if you want to go above and beyond the basics.

We had a most enjoyable day with Roger, who took us to two interesting bodegas in Jerez. Roger is very personable and is able to impart his wide knowledge of the process of Sherry making in a clear and concise way. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him, to taste some wonderful sherries, to learn so much and to enjoy a delicious lunch. I would highly recommend his tour to anyone who is interested in tasting and learning about Sherry.

Last year we did an evening tapas tour with Roger from A Question Of Taste in Seville. It was a most memorable evening and we had such fun.
So when we returned to Seville this year we asked him to organise two tours for us. We firstly did the Jerez tour. I must admit I was not a huge fan of sherry. However, after a brilliant and informative visit to two great producers I began to rethink my position. We tasted many styles and vintages, saw first hand how the wines are created, stored and distributed and came away with a new respect for this often disregarded wine.
One of life's pleasures is to taste good sherry with jamon.
After the informative morning we were driven to nearby Sanluca where Roger organised a most memorable seafood lunch overlooking the beautiful estuary. A wonderful day.
On the following day we did the Jamon tour. This was truly outstanding. To see the free range Iberian pigs on the farm, meet Pollonia and be treated to the best potato omelette
ever was quite remarkable. Then we were off to the factories where the hams are cured and stored. There were thousands of legs of ham and the processing is stringent. We learned so much and were thoroughly entertained. Then it was off to lunch in a most delightful village where we instructed in jamon carving before a fabulous lunch of locally produced vegetables and various offerings of pork.
If you have the time in Seville a day spent with Roger Davies is an absolute treat.

We really enjoyed this tour with Roger. He is very personable and knowledgeable about the wines (sherry) of the region. We learned so much and tasted great wines. It was interesting to walk around the cellars and taste the different varieties of wine in each room. We purchased a delicious bottle of vermouth at the second winery and can't wait to open the bottle. We also had a delicious meal in a small restaurant in Jerez that we still talk about (they have a cold potato salad that we never found on the menu elsewhere), which was followed by a short walking tour of Jerez. Because we decided that we also wanted to visit Cadiz, we asked Roger to take us to the train station and he happily obliged.
I would highly recommend Roger and this tour, especially if you are interested in learning about sherry and vermouth.
