- sunseaadventure0 contributionsCordoba, small but impressive and worth the visitA lovely but long day. David, our tour bus guide was friendly and helpful. Along the route he provided us with lots of information about the region, especially olive growing and production - in 3 languages (Spanish, German and English). The scenery en route was beautiful. We arrived in Cordoba with time to wander a bit before our local guide, Nanny, arrived. She gave us an excellent tour of the Mezquita, which is huge, impressive and interesting to learn about. She also guided us through the winding streets of the old historic Center around the Mezquita and told us about life in the area over the centuries. Our only disappointment was that the tour description said entry to the synagogue was included but we never went to it. We did walk in what was the Jewish quarter and saw the statue of Maimonides, but no synagogo. Maybe she ran out of time. We the. Had more time on our own and enjoyed an outdoor lunch of tapas. My only criticism of the tour was there was a bit too much time to wander alone at the end, and it would have been interesting to see the synagogue.Written January 30, 2025
- Marcin H0 contributionsPoor organization at a wonderful placeGibraltar is a beautiful place worth visiting. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable local bus driver and guide - greetings and big thank you to Derek! :) Unfortunately the greatest downside of the whole trip was the fact that we had only 4.5 hours on site at our disposal. It should have been at least 6 hours to fully enjoy this unique place on Earth. We had to get to the starting point by 6:50 AM and we were back in Malaga already at 5PM. We had an impression of wasted time that was required to collect the rest of participants from multiple starting points at Costa del Sol.Written January 20, 2025

- lel23230 contributionsReserved in July for December trip, but it was canceled unless we wanted to pay $1,000 moreMy husband and I have been to the Alhambra before, and we were excited to do this tour with our two sons, 21 & 17, who have never been. It cost about $445 when I booked it months ago. Unfortunately, it was later canceled due to "lack of availability." However, we noticed that there were still tours available for $1,000+ more than they were originally. No, thank you. We booked another tour in Málaga instead, and it was wonderful.Written December 29, 2024
- Luke G0 contributionsPerfect way to see the whole cityVarious options for tickets and choose the day option so we could hop on and hop off. They tell you to keep the receipt for as it needs to be shown Everytime you want to get back on. Price was very cheap compared to similar tours I’ve been on in other European cities and the only thing I would critise them is the fact you have to buy the headphones even though all other tour companies include them. We had a mobility scooter and they have a designated carriage at the back with a lift so you can drive straight on and off. AMAZING! And the drivers were all so helpful. We did the full circle then got off, got some lunch and then used the hop on and off facility a few times as we had chosen what we wanted to go and look at further. Only thing I would critise them on here is at one point we had a fair wait for the next train and when it showed up, it was full so we had to wait for the next one. About half hour in total so we had to get rid of one of the places we wanted to see. However, it is low season and they did have 3 trains running so I would happily recommend it.Written November 30, 2024
- 885riittas0 contributionsWonderful place, exciting experienceWe went to the Camino del Rey with Julia travel and Victoria as our guide in the bus. It didn't start well. Our pick-up time in Fuengirola was 7am, and 20 minutes later I had to call the travel agent and wake him up, because there was no sign of the bus. He made some calls and told me that the bus would be there in about ten minutes. A good half hour late it arrived! The guide said the delay was due to traffic. This could not be the case before 7am, as there were only a few cars on the road. Victoria "spoke" 4 languages, although her German was some kind of mix with Swedish/Danish. She seemed tired and wasn't very interested in her guests. In Ardales we made a 1,5 h stop, but when it was time to leave, the guide was 15 min. late! We were lucky to be in the local guide Letitia's group on the camino itself. She was very knowledgeable and fun, and she told us a lot about history as well as about local flora and fauna. The caminito was amazing! All my points go to Letitia and the camino. The driver from Julia travels was very skilled. I do not believe, the delay in the morning was due to him.Written November 27, 2024
- Derek O0 contributionsDo not book.If you book this I suggest you also make a dental appointment and one for your chiropractor too. We bought the trip online and received a QR code as proof of purchase. On getting on the bus we were then given a paper till receipt which the driver ripped in half and said the tour lasted 1 hour 40 minutes. We got on at stop 4 and ‘hopped off’ at stop 8 for lunch. As the driver had torn our receipt in half I put it in a nearby bin. On getting back on at stop 8 the next driver, a young female asked for our tickets! I showed the QR code but was told this was no proof of payment. She said ‘it was impossible’ to board without the till receipt. The next bus driver said the same. We then had to pay again to complete the trip! The comfort level on these busses is beyond awful. No seat padding or suspension on a journey over cobbled roads.Written November 20, 2024
- dby590 contributionsCaminito del ReyCaminito felt Rey was great. We were separated by language and pace was good. I walk slow plus I pause to take in the views and I didn’t have a problem keeping up. Only downside was the bus trip, the bus picks up people from Marbella to Malaga so the bus ride is very long. Our guide on the bus was fantastic- gives directions and highlights in 4 different languages.Written November 19, 2024
- Chris T0 contributionsAll dayThe tour is an all day event. The bus was comfortable and our driver was excellent. Upon arrival in Ronda one guide took the Spanish speakers and another took the English speakers. Part of the time was with the guide and part of the time we were on our own. The second stop took less time because it's a small town. Interesting though.Written November 13, 2024
- nickpL6012ZV0 contributionsBarbary Macaque and VIEWSTaking a tour which includes a bus is a must. The guides were amazing. Remember to be patience and open minded. Seeing the Cave was cool, the Barbary Macaque were definitely the highlight. Beautiful animals with GREAT VIEWS. I really enjoyed this tour because of the history and comfort of transportation. ENSURE you pay attention to the time so you don’t get left behind.. Non EU passports have a longer process checking into Gibraltar ; they check the in and out stamps .You also have time to shop at the end which was great to know . Don’t expect cable car ride.. Thank you.Written November 10, 2024
- paulaanddavej20200 contributionsLife’s too short.Worst ‘tour’ ever. No commentary. Bus waited for 30 minutes at one stop, 10 minutes at another. No reason given. Uncomfortable. Save your money or give it to charity! Total rip off. Better to walk! We left the trip early as did other people.Written October 30, 2024

I was going on holiday in Torremolinos and knew it was possible to do a day trip to the Alhambra from there. The Alhambra had been on my bucket list for a very long time and it did not disapppoint - it is very impressive. My choice of trip was limited to that run by Julia Travel as that was the only one advertised during an off-season week in November. The reviews of it were a little mixed, so I was a bit wary, but the trip itself ran as expected without any hitches.
The good: Julia Travel has an office in Torremolinos so it was easy to turn up and confirm the trip two days before it was scheduled as requested. They also offered a pick up point very close to my hotel when I did this, which was a great improvement on the one I had been told about at the time of booking which would have been an hour's walk away. I had booked this trip some months in advance as this is a very popular tour and can fill up quickly. The tour bus was modern, comfortable and arrived on time. The Alhambra itself was stunning and the guide was extremely knowledgeable. Our guide used a wireless microphone and transmitter and issued everyone with a receiver and headpiece at the start of the tour so it was easy to hear everything they said.
The not so good: It's a 2.5 hour coach journey from Torremolinos. Pick up is early morning, around 7:30am. The coach was very full, and made multiple stops to collect people on the way there and drop them off on the way back which made it an extra long trip. There was also a 20 minute stop mid-way in both directions at athe same motorway services where staff desperately tried to sell everyone massively overpriced local produce, which was a waste of everyone's time. On arrival in Granada around 11am we were left to our own devices and told to come back to a meeting point at 1:30pm so that we could be transported to the Alhambra for 2pm. Entry to the Alhambra is strictly controlled and everyone had to have an ID document with them. This was scanned multiple times by Alhambra staff as we moved between different parts of the complex. The tour itself took around 2 hours and felt very rushed. Friends who have visited expressed surprise that it was so fast as there is so much to see there. Given how long it takes to get there and back and the amount to see we really needed longer and a more relaxed schedule for the tour. I found I often became separated from the group as they were moved at high speed between different parts of the Alhambra and I wanted to pause and look at some of the amazing architecture rather than move on at speed. There was no time to visit the museum or some parts of the complex, which was a bit dissappointing given how much the trip cost and how long it took to get there and back.

Good morning,
During our stay in Torremolinos, we took the opportunity to make several excursions: Gibraltar, Ronda, Mijas/Marbella and Granada.
I must first congratulate Elena from the Julia agency on Calle del Peligro who took the time to explain to me what the different tours included and who gave me a lot of advice and relevant information. I have rarely seen such efficient customer service. Well done Elena and I will refer people to you when they go to Torremolinos.
As for excursions, it is true that the journey is long when you have to pick up several people from different places, but we preferred to relax on the bus and enjoy the landscapes than to drive.
The guides are all very knowledgeable and eager to help and inform us. The French of some guides was less good, but fortunately we understood English and a little Spanish, so we didn't miss any details.
The only point for improvement: during the visit to Granada, we had far too much free time to visit the old town before the visit to the Alhambra. We would have preferred that our guide took us to see the places of interest and gave us facts about the history of certain buildings and other places, (thus a guided tour) rather than letting us wander for three hours in the streets of the city. It was a long walk... On the other hand, the guide at the Alhambra was competent and captivating. In addition, if the stop at the restaurant in the morning was appreciated, the one on the way back at the end of the afternoon was not necessary. This lengthened the return trip unnecessarily.
Thank you, we loved discovering the Costa del Sol with your company.

The castle is well worth a visit . Entry fee is minimal and helps support with continuing repairs . Great view from the top over Malaga . The castle is well maintained and is fantastic for photography.

Booked and paid for this tour 2 months ago. Had confirmation email. Emailed to confirm pick up address to be advised sorry not booked as they can’t get the entry tickets to the palace confirmed. All other tour operator options are now booked meaning we can not visit the Alhambra palace on our trip to Spain. Will not be back since coming from NZ which is a 30 hour flight. So thanks to Julia travel will miss what was anticipated to be a highlight of our trip. If I had not contacted them would they ever have advised the tour was not actually booked? Will I ever have my money returned from them… Can not warn you off ever booking with this company more. BUYER BEWARE you will not know if your apparently confirmed tour is actually booked for you until you get on it it seems

Dear melissa t,
Thank you for sharing this review, I regret that you will not be able to do tis tour on the booked date.
Please bear in mind that all authorized agencies are informed about the conditions applying to the tour to Granada with visit to Alhambra , as it is indicated the reservation can not be considered confirmed till the entrance tickets for Alhambra are processed.
For this reason, we informed you that unfortunately, for your booking date, Oct 16th, at the time assigned for our visit there are no longer places available on Alhambra's system.

The Alhambra in Granada is a world's wonder! Amazing architecture, art, and history. Imagine you being there in awe and then having your tour guide rushing through it! What a shame, this is not how you do a TOUR! I would understand if this is a full day tour. But is not! Your tour, excluding travel, is essentially only 2.5 hours . The rest is FREE time in the city - 3 hours! I felt duped....
I joined the tour in Malaga at 8:00 am, met by the tour guide Jean Pierre. The ride to Granada was about 1.5-2 hours. At Alhambra, we were handed off to a local guide, who guided is through the palace until around 12:30. Then we were handed back to Jean Pierre, who the led us to the cathedral in Granada..He showed is the entrance to the entrance of the cathedral. We were to tour the cathedral our self and have free time from 1-4 PM.
Jean Pierre was anything but a guide. In the bus, he just mostly read through a script. In Granada, he continuously failed to bring attention the group to follow him. He rarely spoke and kept walking very far ahead of the group. Most people were having a hard time catching up especially the elderly - he didn't seem to care of anyone in the group got lost or left behind.
The local guide, I think his name was Hani, was a bit better. But still, not a very good guide. He rushed through the tour, rarely facing the group, and basically just doing the tour via his microphone.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR. GRANADA IS AWESOME, BUT USE A DIFFERENT TOUR!

Dear Andi R,
Thank you for commenting on our Alhambra tour from Costa del Sol.
I am glad to see that you enjoyed the visit to the monument. As you point out, Alhambra is an impressive site and I am sorry to see that you felt the experience lacking because of the guides’ explanations.
Nonetheless, I will forward your commentaries to the manager responsible so that the appropriate measures are taken regarding this matter.
I look forward to seeing you again on one of our tours.
Kind regards,
Edgar W.
