- bethanyhS8341WW0 contributionsCaminito del reyHaving a fear of heights, I thought hey, let's go and walk "the walk of death". As you may realise, I made it to the end. No idea how as I was gripping the wire the whole way round while my partner, also a sufferer of vertigo leant over snapping pics of the mahoosive drop below. It was beautiful and high, and did I mention it was high? If you have the stomach then go for it. Great value with our coach from nerja. Do it!Written May 13, 2024

The guides were so friendly and positive and made it so enjoyable, they gave so much great information about the area which really added to the experience. - 931jos_j0 contributionsVery well organized and excellent host/guide EsmeraldaAre you planning a daytrip, decide to go with Pareja tours! Today we went to the Caminito del Rey. The pick up was perfect on time and very close to our appartment. We had a warm welcome by Esmeralda the host/guide. The caminito was amazing! Everything was organized in detail. Esmeralda is an enthousiastic and very friendly host/guide with great language skills in englisch, german and spanish. She was well prepared and had an eye on every single guest. During the walk she gave us a lot of extra information about the history of the Caminito del Rey and the region. Thanks again for the amazing day. For sure we will return traveling with Viajes Pareja Tours in future. José & JeanineWritten January 10, 2024

- Cornishgirl220 contributionsA one of a kind experiencePick up was very prompt at all stops. Upon arrival at Caminito del Rey and given our compulsory safety wear, we were all given the option to walk with our tour guide (Luis) or walk it ourselves at our own pace. We decided to stay with Luis, as we do tend to walk quickly and we didn't want to finish too early or miss anything. At total of about 14 people on our coach chose to do the same and it was a good decision. We walked at a perfect pace and Luis gave us details about the history and points of interest. We even found out that the railway line is still in use today, being the Malaga to Seville route, as well as how the earth plates were so different in each gorge (three in total). There were plenty of photo opportunities and Luis offered several times to take pictures of each group. A few friends have commented that Caminito del Rey's walkways look very high. I can reassure you that I was never aware of being that high up at any stage, you were walking on solid ground between walkways. Towards to end of the walk, Luis showed us a red peppercorn tree and we could even try the peppercorns, which we would have missed otherwise. At the end of the walk we still had plenty of time of get a drink and look at the merchandise.Written August 19, 2023

Luis Löwenstein was my tour guide and with his sense of humor set the mood from the beginning. The other tour guide is called Esmeralda, she was so kind and helpful and told very interesting -but not overwhelming- information during the tour. :)Written August 17, 2023

My husband and I loved visiting Caminito del Rey. It was one of our top ten all time favourite experiences! We rented a car and drove ourselves from Malaga. We are in our sixties and the hike was tiring but quite manageable. I’d recommend buying the tickets ahead of time and doing it without a guide as you can set your own pace. One word of caution, it can get very hot so be sure to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and a hat, and stop for breaks along the way. While it says “no backpacks” we were allowed to bring a small one to carry our water. The parking lot is a bit tricky to find if you use gps so better to follow the directions provided. We both highly recommend this experience!

The entire trip was well organized, including the bus ride that took us to the location. Our personal guide, Dafne, was truly exceptional. During the tour, we had various personal conversations, and she mentioned that she's one of the newest guides despite previously working mainly in the office. However, her performance was so remarkable that I would have never guessed she was new to this role. Dafne shared captivating stories throughout the journey, and her attention to everyone's safety during the hike was greatly appreciated. Give Dafne a raise ;)
She was lovely and totally made our trip the best experience we could have!

We had such a fun day with this tour! The pickup went really smoothly, the bus was on time, and the bus even had air-conditioning. The guide, Louis, was really nice, and he knew a lot of interesting information (in good English).
We chose to walk the path on our own, and this was the perfect choice for us! We could walk at out own pace, take lots of pictures, and eat our lunch on the way. The water bottle was also very welcome, but it was not too hot. The walk itself is 7km in total, and not hard.
All in all, we had a really good day! The caminito is sooo beautiful, do not miss it!

Excellent moderate hike with spectacular views. Even my wife with vertigo was able to handle the elevated catwalks and the suspension bridge. The infrastructure was all stainless steel, including framework, cables and mesh fencing, so we felt safe every step of the way. The tour team were very helpful, friendly and nice. We learned about the history of Caminito del Rey on the bus ride to the trail, and there were displays along the way to educate us about the trail, flora and fauna. Timing for pick up and return were spot on. Overall a great experience. Recommend highly.

This was a great day with spectacular views. The walk way was suspended high above the valley but it was extremely safe. Our guide was very professional and have clear guidance speaking in three different languages and was easy to understand. This is a trip that I would highly recommend.

A wonderful tour with a highly informative guide who is fluent in 5 languages!! We were called 1 day before the tour to reconfirm the booking and also to inform us of the meeting place in Malaga city.
The trek itself was highly exhilarating. It seemed perilous when we looked at the pictures while booking but hardly broke a sweat while doing it. Fantastic views and an extremely safe way to experience a 'cliffhanger thrill'. Tons of opportunities to take amazing pictures and make memories for life. We would definitely recommend the tour.

We were delighted with this great tour to the Caminito del Rey.
The pick-up in Málaga went really well and we were given a very warm welcome by the tour guides Luiz and Esmeralda. Both guides speak many languages fluently. The bus took us to the start of the entrance portal. During the 70-minute journey to our destination, the tour guide not only gave us the information for the Caminito, but also explained some details about the produce grown in Andalusia and other insights.
Once we arrived, we were given a bottle of water and then walked from the bus stop to the entrance gate where we were given a helmet and a safety briefing.
The Caminito del Rey is amazing both in terms of views and nature. The guide again gave us some information during the hike.
You don't need to be a mountaineer or an experienced hiker to walk this trail. A good pair of light hiking boots or sneakers with good grip is all you need.
Almost at the end of the trail, after three hours of walking, you will have to cross a short suspension bridge. If you have a terrible fear of heights, you might want to reconsider this hike. There is no way back :-)
All in all, we had fun and would hike with Viajes Pareja again.

Nice tour, absolutely recommend visiting Caminito del Rey if you are around Malaga. It is truly breathtaking, the walk, the landscape, nature. The walk was renovated and is very safe now, but might not be the best option if you're afraid of heights 😄
The tour is for big groups, around 50-60 people and you get transport from Malaga with a tour guide, then once there can walk by yourself. We preferred that option compared to being a big group walking together on the Caminito.
Big Kudos to our guide who was super friendly, spoke 4 languages perfectly (!!) and gave us interesting details on the way there.

Caminito del Rey is incredible! The Viajes Pareja team made everything so smooth - the pick-up and drop-off was easy and the team was very communicative throughout. They also had a lot of information and genuine excitement about the caminito so I left the tour feeling like I learned a lot (I opted for the "guided" version instead of doing the walk on my own) while having a great time walking the path and being impressed by all of the nature in the region as well as the infrastructure.

With the day trips, the walk should actually begins around noon (after the drive and breakfast).
Won't it be too hot in the afternoon in August or September when the temperatures are above 35C and often above 40C?
We should also drink a lot of water and no one mentioned that.
I've read all the reviews I could find and no one complaining about the heat.
Does it mean the heat is no burden at all?
Written August 15, 2023
We did the trail in March 2023. Taking the trail in July/August I think would be very hot. I would definitely recommend taking extra water and maybe schedule some more time to walk the trail.
