He was knowledgeable and funny, and went out of his way to help our daughter to a taxi when she had to leave the tour early. Even on a chilly and rainy day in Malaga, Fernando made the tour feel warm and fun. Highly recommend!Written March 28, 2025

You experience the food culture of the area from the raw product right through to the edibles. The cooking class and market visit were very well organized, informative, and fun. Jorge and Elba were skilled in moving the group through the various tasks while providing guidance. They had everything prepped but also gave us an opportunity to do hands on chores. In no time we had tapas and churros!
The group really gelled and we had a great time meeting one another from all over. The cooking facility is top notch, purposely built for class cooking and eating. And the tapas we made were delicious and so were the Sangria and wines. Great fun.

This was a great experience! Our guide Ana took us through the market and gave us so much information on local foods and traditions. Then on to the cocina to cook. Top notch facilities with a wonderful chef giving us instructions. We prepared five tapas along with making sangria then all sat down together to enjoy the fruits of our labors. It was delicious and we were not rushed. It was a wonderful time.

The Tapas cooking class was great. Our guide Felipe started by taking us on a tour of the Atarazanas Market where he introduced us to some of typical foods of Malaga and we were able to taste a few things. The tapas class was held in a beautiful professional kitchen and the chef was very informative and helpful. Even though it was a large group everyone was able to take part in the cooking. I did the class solo, but the atmosphere was so friendly and warm. I am very glad I did the class.

This cooking class has all kinds of potential to be a 5. Unfortunately, there were issues with the cooking surfaces that disrupted the process and caused delays. As a result, we didn't have enough hands-on cooking time and it forced the staff to focus on making up for that disruption in the cooking. This caused too much waiting time, and prevented meaningful interaction between staff and participants. It would have been great to hear more about the food and culture from our hosts, rather than relying on the group to interact within themselves.

Enjoyable and informative tour. Maria of Sherpa foods, our tour guide, was so friendly and pleasant and told us a lot of interesting facts, showed us some sites then took us to good bars with plenty of excellent tapas food and wine! Thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend this tapas tour and thank you again Maria.

Our personal guide Javi met us near the market, and took us on a detailed tour of the very best vendors in the fish, fruit and meat sections of the market. Javi was well-known by the vendors, so we were able to sample many of the fresh produce on display! This got us in the mood for the cooking class to follow. After picking up some of the ingredients for the cooking class we headed to the cooking school where our chef instructed us on how to cook our four very tasty dishes. As our chef only spoke Spanish this didn’t matter in the slightest, as Javi’s impeccable English allowed us to understand all of our chef’s instructions. It was great to come away with four regional dishes to impress our friends with when we return to Canada. Also, as we are staying in Malaga for a few weeks, we now know which vendors in the market to visit in the days ahead. We strongly recommend you hiring Javi as your guide to get to known the culture of Malaga. Thanks to Javi and the cooking school for this amazing and tasty experience.

Filipe was our very pleasant guide and he spoke English very well. He took us to the mercado and shared a bit of its history with us. He was very informative about all aspects of the market and we purchased some of the ingredients needed for the cooking class. Amporo, our lovely instructor, helped us create four delicious tapas. We did this class at the beginning of our stay so it was very helpful in terms of navigating the market and all it has to offer. We received a list of recommended places to eat and all the recipes. That evening while dining at one of the restaurants we saw Filipe and he was kind enough to recommend some specific dishes to us. We are so pleased to have had this experience.

Communication was good. The trip to the Market was fascinating - Javi was an excellent guide and got us lots of tasty treats to try at the various stalls! The Cookery School was an excellent facility and we were all able to participate in preparing the dishes. For us the choice of dishes that we prepared and ate wasn’t ideal but that of course is very subjective and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

We enjoyed the shopping and cooking experience very much! Felipe was friendly and professional. He is born and raised in Malaga so he knows the market and traditional foods very well. I don’t recall the chef’s name but she also was very kind and extremely professional - her kitchen is immaculate! For the price of the class, there should be more wine served.

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Javi in Malaga. He took us through the incredible Mercado Atarazanas and shared much information about his favorite Spanish foods. We then cooked a delicious meal together. Javi was a great host. He made sure we were comfortable and understood all the chefs instructions. I highly recommend this class to everyone visiting Malaga.
