It was a beautiful, short drive up the coast to Nerja. We enjoyed a brief visit in the Town Center before visiting the caves. My husband and I were both beyond impressed with how grand the caves were - just awesome! Another short drive took us to the charming, small mountain village of Frigiliana. We aren’t much for shopping, so headed up to a gorgeous view of the town and the Med and enjoyed a bite to eat and a couple of beers. The day was absolutely fantastic. I regret missing the name of our guide - he was fantastic! We’ve taken at least 10 tours from Malaga with Julia over the past 3 years (2 separate visits) and they have always been punctual and the guides gracious and professional.

This was a very, very nice trip with a formidable guide, Daniel. If the sales text had mentioned that we could see the drawings, we would not have been disappointed so late. Perfect to end in the old town of Nejra. Four and a halv stars!

Nerja
We selected Nerja and Frigiliana without the additional visit to the caves. This meant that we were then told to stay in Nerja for 4 hours from morning to afternoon and wait for those visiting the caves. This was not ideal or appreciated as most cafes/ shops were closed and there is only so much you can walk around and explore in the little centre. It felt like a waste of time really when we just wanted to go to Frigiliana.
Frigiliana
This was beautiful and the highlight of the trip but our guide only gave us an hour which meant we had to rush to the top of the hill and back. It was certainly worth the visit but I wish we had 4 hours here and 1 in Nerja.
Tour guide
Quite rude and boring actually but insisted that everyone listened to him as he spoke about the same things repeatedly.
I give this tour 3 stars - but the stars are for Frigiliana as a place. I wish we had researched this better and taken public transport up there or something ourselves.

We reserved this excursion through another tour operator as we wanted to visit the Nerja caves - this was one of the highlights of our trip for our 13 year old daughter. The excursion was confirmed and included entrance tickets to the caves. And then the surprise came....
The only positives : the bus arrived on time at the pick-up location in Malaga and was comfortable.
Now the negatives... We arrived in Nerja and were given two hours of free time before we were to rejoin the bus to go to the caves. Our guide, JANET, accompanied us to the main plaza and left us there; no city tour, no explanation of the history of the village, nothing. Upon rejoining the bus, we learned that we did not have tickets to enter the caves. JANET, our so-called guide, refused to look at the confirmation document we had given to her upon boarding the bus in Malaga and refused to contact the other tour operator to check if there was an error. I called the other tour operator to check with them and they confirmed we had reserved the excursion with tickets to the caves. JANET, our guide, refused to speak to the other tour operator and refused to find a solution for us (we were a group of 6). Meanwhile, the other tour operator was researching what had happened and was frenetically working on a solution for us. We decided to go up to the caves regardless in hopes of being able to buy tickets on site. This was not a possibility as the tickets were sold out at the time we wanted. The other tour operator eventually found us a solution, in cooperation with the staff at the caves, and we were able to get tickets. BUT THEN, JANET did not want us to join the group for the tour because she didn't get her "commission"!!! Unbelievable!!! To make a long story short, we eventually joined the group for the tour (again she was useless as a guide and rushed the group through the caves). After the caves, we were taken to Frigiliana where again we were dropped off on our own - no city tour, no explanation, JANET just told us to take the tourist train around the village. Cute white village but the tourist train is useless and no point in stopping here.
My conclusion - avoid Julia Travel like the plague as they take your money, provide no service, the guide is completely useless as well as rude and then doesn't hesitate to ask you for a tip at the end of the tour!!!

We went as part of a tour and it is worth a visit. Obviously there are a lot of steps so you need to be mobile. Take the audio tour or it will be a bit boring.

After reading the negative comments, decided to take the tour anyway.
The bus picked us up and we continued to go from hotel to hotel to pick up others.
Finally arrived at the cave, wonderful, that is is where it ends.....
The driver told us the bus would leave at a certain time and to be sure you were on time.
I guess we miss understood and arrived 15 minutes later. The bus had left and we
were stranded. did not help that my phone decided not to get a signal and we were unable to call the tour company.
Finally waived down a Taxi to take all the way back to the hotel. I called the tour company
they seemed to care less. Learned our lesson the hard way

Dear Christa123,
Thank you for posting your feedback on our Nerja & Frigiliana tour.
I appreciate that you enjoyed the visit on both sites as they are some of the most beautiful cities in the area. Unfortunately, once everyone has been informed of the departure time we simply cannot wait for people who are running late, as it would be disrespectful to those who have arrived on time.
I would also like to point that it is stated in all our official selling points that our tours starting from Costa del Sol may present several stops along the way to pick passengers up so that all our customers can make an informed decision before completing their purchase.
Kind regards,
Edgar W.

Don’t. just don’t.

Do it alone by yourself, if you don’t you’ll regret not listening to me!
The day started.
We were the lucky ones, the last one to be picked up by the bus, but then people in the bus told us they have been in it for 2 hours!
That’s where we met our guide, Paco. The only things he talked about for 30 minutes were how many kilometers malaga was from nerja, nerja from the caves, etc. No information on the town or history at all. He kept on talking about the names of the highways the bus would be on! So INTERESTING!
In nerja, the place where we wanted to spend the most time, we only had 1 hour (which is a BEAUTIFUL city, a must go, by yourselves!) which is clearly not enough.
After we went to the caves, which were nice. Bur the problem is: they gave us 1 HOUR to eat at the caves, with only one restaurant and NOTHING AT ALL TO DO! What a TOURIST TRAP to force us to eat there and spend money there!
Tell me Julia, why not just go to the caves first, and then spend a lovely 2 hours in nerja where we could choose of our free will and according to our taste a good restaurant with a view on the sea? Please, tell me it’s not because you make money everytime we eat at the restaurent at the caves !?!?
After we arrived at Frigiliana where we again had only 1 hour to visit, but our guide Paco (the nicest man ever... NOT he was mean to everyone in the bus) recommended a 30 minutes train around the city for 3euros. If the guide recommended it, it must be nice right?
WRONG! we saw NOTHING. Only streets full of cars and no view of the city at all. After that, we only had 30 minutes to try to catch up on seeing this beautiful town.
And then, finished. Yep you read me. Finished. 1h nerja, 30 minutes caves, 1h frigiliana. For a 7 hour (and more if you were not the lucky ones) long tour.
SO PLEASE
Don’t book with them!
You’ll regret it.

Good afternoon Marie-Christine G,
I would like to thank you for taking the time to comment on our Nerja and Frigiliana tour. I am sad to hear that it did not live up to your expectations, however I would like to point out that it is clearly stated in our vouchers and official website that the tour includes multiple pickup points so that all our customers can make an informed decision before purchasing the tour.
Regarding your commentaries on the operative the tour, it is organized as such so that our customers can make the most of it. Nonetheless I will revise with the person responsible if some changes are necessary.
Kind regards,
Edgar W.

What does the tour of the caves entail? There's no clear description

There are 8 caves in total, but the tour only takes you through 3 huge caves of stalagmites and stalactites. The steps are well built with good railings to hang on to, and can be steep. It is well worth it to go on this tour.
