We did the tour from Malaga. Bus picked us up, therein was our biggest issue. It was like a 21 passenger Mercedes bus, and the seats were set up for 12 year old kids, not full grown adults. I'm normal sized, 6' and 225, and I could barely wedge myself into the seats. Everyone's knees were hurting from being wedged into the seat back in front of them. I got into the one seat in the back row with aisle in front of it, and even it was uncomfortable because my hips were over the edges of the seats on either side. Once again - I'm a fit, normal sized guy.
Then they drove through miles of neighborhoods full of speed bumps, furthering the pain... Need to find a better pickup point.
Once we got to the Tarifa port it was ok, had breakfast there, got on the ferry, went up to VIP level which is open to everyone, settled in, and slept for an hour. Got on a real bus in Tangier, with an awesome guide named Samir. Enjoyed the views, Samir spoke fluent English, and Tangier was very interesting. Lunch was an awesome 5 course deal with original style entertainment. Once we got into the shopping areas we were constantly bothered by people trying to sell us stuff - but we're good at blowing them off so not that big a deal. Back on the ferry, another nap, and waited a half hour for that bus to come. Another torturous 2+ hours in those seats and thru the speed bumps. Got back at like 8pm after a 530am start. Glad I did it? Yes. Do I wish they did some things differently? Yes. That bus was horribly uncomfortable. Get a real tour bus. Samir the guide was great - but they need to do something to stop the constant harassment by people trying to sell you stuff.

Dear Racinfan83, Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion about our tour. I deeply regret to learn the discomforts you suffered during the ride to Tarifa Port. However, I would like to point out we do always provide high class buses for our customers' confort. On a more positive note, I am pleased to learn that you enjoyed the meal. We strive to choose restaurants where some of the best dishes in the region can be tasted. Moreover I am glad to hear our local tour guide worked efficiently during the tour in Tangier. Kind regards, Alex B.

We booked our trip through a travel agent.
Take a pen with you to complete the paperwork. We felt safe with our day pack, you may want to bring a bottled water or snack. Food on the ferry is lousy. Comfortable shoes are a must and you may need a shawl if going into a religious site.
Our guide, Janet was really knowledgeable and helpful. She spoke English and did a good job of keeping us all together. She is with you from pick-up, thru ferry and numerous passport checks and baggage/purse scans. She stays with you for the tour in Morocco, although there is a local guide who directs you.
Be sure you wait for the bus in the morning pick-up. They may not be exactly on time, we were told 7AM and they arrived about 720Am.
Unfortunately we had a flat tire on our return bus. And it was a new bus-go figure. Kinda of a bummer at the end of the night to deal with this kind of thing. Didn't get home till after 11PM.

Dear lmyers21, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in TripAdvisor. It is a real pleasure to know you had an awesome experience in Tagier while on our full day trip! I am so happy to discover our staff did a great job with their guidance skills. However, although unfortunately this is a situation totally out of our control, I am sad the trip ended up with a flat tire. We hope to be able to give you even a more positive impression in your next trip to Costa del Sol! Sincerely, Alex B.

We loved the tour of the city and a walk through the market and the Morocco lunch with the music but we felt like hostages by having to sit through a 1/2 hour talk and sell us on carpets and a 1/2 hour talk at the pharmacy on health products they were selling. We didn’t sign up for this

The first half of the tour was good and the lunch was good. The first half of the tour gave us some information about the different sections of town. We also stopped at a location to experience a camel ride. A picture was taken. At this location tour members were approached with individuals selling their wares. If one had been refused a sale another individual would approach with another item for sale. We headed to the old section of Tangiers where we were told we were going straight to lunch. We took a convoluted route in and out of the market exiting a least three times. Each time we exited the market we were approached by the same individuals as had been at the camel ride pushing their items. After lunch, the same individuals accosted us yet again! We were then brought to a huge store where store employees engaged in pressure tactics to sell their wares. On leaving, the same individuals accosted us. We then went to a herbal store where we were given a short demonstration. We were offered a taste of liquid ginseng from the cap of the bottle. The same cap was used for the remaining members of our group!! One had the impression that the same cap would be used for the next tour. This should never happen! Especially with the current situation with the coronavirus it is even more paramount that items not be shared among individuals. The afternoon felt very pressured with selling their wares and pictures taken from the camel. Numerous polite refusals were not heeded. It became apparent that no amount of decline would be respected. The tour company must condone this activity as these individuals seemed attached to our tour. Very distasteful and it means we will not recommend this tour to others.

In addition the bus driver in Spain was very aggressive consequently having to use his brakes a lot. Not a comfortable experience.

Dear Gary D, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I deeply regret the tour did not exceed your expectations. We would like you to take into account as well that the visits to both the carpet and herbal shops are held to provide our customers the opportunity to learn about the craftsmanship works still performed in the area, as well as giving them the chance to purchase high quality goods from trustworthy sources. Nonetheless, we would like to apologize if you felt pushed to make any purchases which is absolutely not the case. I will transfer your comments on the tour driver in order for the situation you described not to happen again. Sincerely, Alex B.

This was a mistake.

Hugely lonnnng day on a bus, lots of standing in line waiting for passports to be stamped, or ferries to arrive. In Tangier, you are a wallet, nothing more. Frogmarched through a market, and into a carpet and knickknack store for a hard sell, then on to a spice store for another hard sell, with people hassling you left, right and centre.
We were fed lunch.

I run marathons and know a bit about endurance. This was endurance.

I enjoyed none of it.

Avoid.

My sister and I booked a tour from Malaga. Expecting a reasonable amount of time in Tangier, an informative trip and a fabulous local lunch. We experienced none of this.
This tour runs from Malaga and does NOT say that it stops anywhere else, we were expected to be on the bus at 5:30am - there is no hotel pick up for Malaga pick ups.
We spent 4 hours on that bus picking up other people down the coast at various hotels and bus stops with no scheduled bathroom breaks - we had to argue with the tour guide to get them to stop.
Once we got to the port to board the ferry (at 9:30am) we were informed that our ferry was not until 12pm and that now we had a little time to "relax" - for those who got on in Malaga the day had already been long and we were frustrated that our time in Morocco was going to be minimal.
Once in Tangier we were rushed through, driven straight by the palace with no understandable explanation as to what it is, to camels. We then drove to lunch which was average at best. And walked to the carpet shop and spice shop. THEY DO NOT TAKE YOU TO MARKETS.

We spent 18 hours on this tour and only 3 of them were in Tangier. The rest was sitting around or on some sort of transport.
This tour is an absolute joke, avoid at all costs.

Dear Jess T, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I regret to see you were not properly informed about the multiple pick-up points in our regular Gibraltar tour along Costa del Sol by your agency, since this information is stated on our official selling points. Regarding the issue described with the ferry, please note the one we were supposed to take was cancelled due to bad weather conditions and we were then forced to wait for the following one; note this reason is totally our of our control. Best regards, Alex B.

This is a wonderful day trip to Morocco and Tangier particularly the soux give you a good introduction to Africa I feel extra time on your own in the soux is advisable and maybe take some time off carpet and spice demonstrations/ selling? I felt our guide with Julia travels was not as attentive/ helpful as could be at every opportunity having a cigarette break when he should have been helping with immigration etc. But he didn't lose any of his group! That is a good thing and I accept that his job was extra frustrating that day due to a cancellation of our original ferry! However it is a must do and is the second time we have done the trip.

The highlights of this trip were crossing the strait of girbralter, the lunch with authentic Moroccan cuisine and just being in another country.And... that’s about it. Our trip started with a 6:30 am pick up and we returned about 9 pm to Fuengirola, Spain. Only about 4 hours of that time was spent touring in Tangier. Lots of sitting around waiting, standing in line, and on the bus. Many ppl commenting on how there had to be a better system. A “camel ride” was offered in this tour but it consisted of getting on the camel, having it rise and lower and that was it. Saw what it involved and passed as we have been to Egypt and had a Real camel ride.
Be prepared for the relentless street vendors. Never pay what they ask you for. Go below 50% of what they ask. Basically in the end they will take anything. The tour takes you to certain “ tourist shops” again, buyer beware.
We overall enjoyed the day and experience albeit long and the waiting around.

Dear Emcctjw, Thank you for dedicating your time in writing your opinion about our tour to Tánger. I would like to point out it is necessary to make some arrangements to ensure the entry and correct departure of all passengers to Tangier, which is why you may have had to wait at some times during the tour. However, I am happy to see you could experience a real moroccan experience and enjoyed the experience. Kind regards, Alex B.

Went on the day trip from Costa del Sol to Tangier.
Bus pickup at the Hotel at 07:30 and then made 4 other stops to pick up at various other hotels
the trip from the time we got on the bus to the Ferry was about 3hours 15 minutes +
wait in line at the terminal for the the ferry at 12:00
on the ferry, wait in line for customs..only two agents for all of the passengers..there were people waiting in line until about 10 min before docking in Morocco; the ferry took about 1 hour.
assemble on the dock then up and down stairs and walking to get to another check point, wait in line again, then on to the bus.
Bus runs through various districts..quickly, with a play by play from the tour guide over the intercom..look left bla bla..on your right..bla bla, with absolutely no chance to take any half decent pictures or see anything at all. Bus keeps going until we stop at a hill side parking lot where there were camels.
these poor beasts are kneeling on the cement side walk (see pictures) and getting up and down for rides..sort of like ponies at a carnival for kids. It was pitiful. It looked to me that the Camels were in pain and tired. oh and the vendors trying to sell hats, fake Rolexes etc..really aggressive..we were ready for this, but it was tiring saying 'no' every 10 seconds
Back on the bus to go for lunch.
Small restaurant with a band playing nice music
Some Salad. Kebab on a spit, cous cous then some very sweet pastries for dessert. It was the nicest part of the excursion, with the decor and the fore mentioned music.
Thought it a bit expensive at 15 euros each and 3 euros for half sized Heinichen...
Back on the bus to go down to the market..followed the guide on foot through a parking lot into the market and piratically ran through alleys in the market with no time to look around or talk to anyone.
the market was a bit of a culture shock, in that the space is very restrained, almost claustrophobic. See pictures
then taken to the famous carpet factory for a demo that lasted 30-45 min..after that to natural remedy presentation that was interesting, but an obvious hard sell.
Guide took us to a small square for some free time, (45 min)..that we were again surrounded by various vendors....no...NO...NO!!!
Back to the bus for the trip back...we got back to our hotel at 22:30 so in all this trip took about 15+ hours for about 4 hours of tour with one break for a meal.
We were totally burnt after this 'outing' and were lucky to find a kitchen open at 22:30 for a meal
would we do this again: NEVER
Is it a good deal: NO
I gotta say that our tour guide on the bus and Ferry was good in making sure we got on and off first. That advance action saved a little time but as a trade off we stood for quite a while in the terminal and on the stairs of the Ferry, twice...Not Fun.
Is this trip fun: NO; too much wasted time standing in line
I would say the worst part of this whole experience was the time wasted at the Spanish customs and security, going out and coming back into SPAIN.
we were at least a couple of hundred people arriving on the Ferry into Spain on the way back...only two border agents...hours of useless waiting.

Dear 19nosliw62, I sincerely apologize to read that you did not fully enjoy our tour to Tangier. Note that we do specify on our official website and selling points all the information related to the multiple pickup points, precisely so that our customers can make an informed decision when making their reservations. Please note that the operation of the ferry service is not directly operated by us and there are circumstances out of our control. Additionally bear in mind that depending on the season it might get crowded somedays. Regarding your comments on the market part of the tour, I am afraid that the vendor’s behavior is out of our contro and I would like to apologize if you felt in some ways harrassed or felt pushed to make any purchases. The visits to the carpet and herbal shops has the purpose to give costumers the opportunity to lear about the traditional crafts still performed in the area, as well as giving them the chance to purchase high quality goods from trustworthy sources. On a more positive note I am pleased to learn that you enojy the meal. We strive to choose restaurants where some of the Best dishes in the region can be tasted. Moreover I am glad to hear that our tour guide worked efficiently the embarkation for the ferry. Sincerely, Alex B.
