- VickyLargs0 contributionsHighlight of our visit to CordobaOur visit to Mezquita-Catedral de Cordoba would not have been so memorable if we didn't take this tour. Our English-speaking guide Enrique was excellent! He guided us through an enchanting history of the Mosque-Cathedral with passion, knowledge and enthusiasm. Going through the Mosque halls we learnt about the initial construction in the 8th century and all the subsequent expansions up to 10th century. The true "wow" moment was entering the nave of the Cathedral inside the Mosque (13th century). You certainly do not expect it to be so grand and opulent but it is! We all agreed that it was a very thoughtful way of telling the story chronologically and leading us to its Christian climax - the Cathedral. To complete the experience, we also attended the Sunday mass the next day. Would highly recommend this tour. Big thanks to our guide Enrique!Written October 12, 2024
- 8mortenw0 contributionsThe Mosque-Cathedral is Cordoba is a must.Visiting the Mosque-Cathedral was an outstanding experience. Built and rebuilt over more than 1000 years, this enormous complex is truly breathtaking. It covers different Roman, Moorish, and Christian architecture and styles. We had the privilege of having Fatima as our guide, who explained everything about the Mosque-Cathedral. Fatima was not only a very skilled but also a very passionate guide—perhaps among the best guides I have ever had. Thank you, Fatima, for sharing all the fascinating details and putting the Mosque-Cathedral into a historical context. Truly, it was a memorable visit.Written October 7, 2024
- IslaR3710 contributionsSuper tour in EnglishEnglish guide tour . Fab ! Our guide , Enrique does the tour in a super interesting way , focusing on the Muslim history first and then a second round on the Christian one. Superb!Written October 6, 2024
- Love2travelSydney0 contributionsAmazing sites and sights! We had a lovely tour and our guide’s knowledge was great but it lacked a bit of personality or connection. I felt she was just telling the same stories she had shared with every other group. We still learnt a lot and saw things we wouldn’t have by ourselves but for the price I expect a guide with a bit more passion. The 3 sites/areas are amazing but going through the Alcazar felt a bit rushed with no time to really see the gardens. Arranging the tour via email with Artencordoba was easy and hassle free. I’ve still given this tour 5 stars but for the price it just lacked something.Written October 6, 2024
- mohr9410 contributionsGreat Experience!very knowledgeable, informative with great communication skills. I would highly recommend Alvaro Salamanca to anyone looking for a tour guide in Cordoba.Written October 4, 2024
- Zoran19800 contributionsExceptional experienceWe had an Italian-speaking guide who was incredibly knowledgeable (both professionally and socially), making the tour an unforgettable experience. Simply perfect and highly recommended if you are planning a visit to the Mosque-Cathedral. Doing it alone with an audio guide would not provide the same experience.Written October 3, 2024
- adams9850 contributionsA must see tour in CordovaThis tour is absolutely amazing and the tour guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining. Fortunately, the walk is all flat. I would strongly recommend this tour as an introduction to CordovaWritten October 1, 2024
- stephen_cox230 contributionsGreat way to see and learn about Cordoba’s famous MezquitaGreat way to see and learn about Cordoba’s famous Mezquita. Fatima our guide was immensely knowledgeable about the monument and led the tour with passion and enthusiasm. She explained (briefly) the complicated history of the building and ensured that all questions from the group were fully answered.Written September 30, 2024
- Dave G0 contributionsVery WorthwhileMaria was a knowledgeable and entertaining English language (with an accent 😊) guide. Answered everyone’s questions.Written September 30, 2024
- Guide273161575400 contributionsA fantastic place, but not the best tour. The Mosque/Cathederal was fantastic, but our guide’s English was not great. He told us he usually did the tours in Spanish and was covering for someone else. He did his best and was obviously a knowledgeable guy, but our experience was not as good as other English tours. The 3 star review is for Artencordoba NOT the MEZQUITA or the guide.Written September 28, 2024
- gailmU2255AL0 contributionsGreat info and views, if a bit longThe Mezquita was fabulous and so interesting to tour. I really appreciated the knowledge and friendless of our two guides, both of whom were easy to understand in English. They provided interesting context and history about the area and the locations we visited. (I also appreciated Maria's tip for where to acquire less expensive drinks, which we needed later!) The tour did run quite long (longer than anticipated), and I had wished for just a little more brevity inside the Mezquita, especially because there weren't very many places to sit while we were touring.Written September 25, 2024
- Richardm570070 contributionsTickets not accepted -money wastedThe mosque did not accept our tickets -no-one anywhere to be seen who could help us. Ended up having to buy new tickets. Money spent totally wasted.Written September 24, 2024
- helenkay0080 contributionsFelt like too much info & went too longWe booked a 2 hour tour & our tour guide was Maria. The tour went for for 2.5 hours probably 1 hour too long, a bit too much info was given & it seemed to lose a bit of interest within the group. Maria seems like a bright person but needs to tailor tour to her group & maybe not her interest. We have just had a tour in Barcelona at Sagrada Familia, it was brilliant, just over an hour & held us captive with interest. So I probably would not recommend this tour sorry, just too long & too much info - go for a shorter time tour perhaps.Written September 18, 2024
- 2coats0 contributionsAmazing must see attractionThe mosque is a must see attraction in cordoba. It has an amazing mix of Arabic and Christian culture. It’s one of the most impressive places to visit. The audio guide is very helpful to explain the varies stages of the building.Written September 17, 2024

Two possibilities, one with guide (reservation required) but Spanish or English guide. Otherwise you can reach the site directly by car (parking at the entrance). We took the guide option, meeting in front of the museum, making contact with the guide who takes you to the cinema to watch a screening of around 30 minutes (very interesting). The room is full because all the groups are attending, hence the imperative need to book! At the end, a bus takes you to the site (5 minutes) and the guided tour begins. Fortunately we had seen the computer-generated images in the theater, because in fact it is essentially ruins. Some remains are interesting, but nothing more for us. No access to the throne room which is undoubtedly the most beautiful. In short, you really have to like old stones to fully appreciate them, not to mention that after a while all the groups join together, so it's not easy to listen and move around. Allow an hour and a half visit, two drinking water fountains are on the circuit, enough to quench your thirst. Better to wear sneakers than high heels!

The night visit has a special charm, although it is a shame not to be able to enjoy the panoramic views due to lack of light. Of course, the temperature is ideal.
The visit with a guide is essential, to be able to understand and understand the magnitude of the city and what we are seeing.

I don't remember the name of the guide. It was on Sunday, October 15, the one carried by the group of 4 Germans. The part of history that he told us about Córdoba and Medina Azahara was very good. The problem was the chaos leading the group through the ruins. She was walking quickly and the group was in single file and no one knew where what she was explaining was. Even at the entrance, there were people who stayed behind and didn't know where to go. I think I should explain the ruins better, pointing with my arms instead of saying behind, to the right, etc., and go slower, there were older people.

Awesome. Alejandro makes you immerse yourself in the history of Cordoba by moving to another era. It is a visit that is essential to make with a Pro Guide like Alejandro who explains the historical and cultural importance of the city of Córdoba.

If you go to Medina Azahara it is essential to hire a guided tour, without it you don’t know much, they are all ruins. Our Guide David, with whom we already made an entertaining night tour of Cordoba, explained the museum and already in the site told us the history of the brilliant city in full detail. Out of 10.

Maria was an amazing guide with great information and wonderful sense of humor! I did the night tour with the bus from the MV, got picked up and dropped off to the Medina. We walked around the Medina at night so bring some comfortable shoes. I highly recommend the night tour when it's less hot and not as crowded.

A wonderful guided tour in which they give you a perfect idea of what it meant at that time and the importance it had. The explanation given by María, our guide, was exceptional, at all times making the visit a very pleasant time. Congratulations!!!! The truth is, the guides we have had these days with young people make you feel excited about how they do their job and how professional they are. A 10 for ArtenCordoba.

I did the tour at 9.15pm. It is very nice to see the archaeological remains at night although if there was a little more lighting you could enjoy the tour better. The Guide that accompanied us explained much about the history of the city and legends

A dream place magnificently explained by Miguel Ángel, our guide, who knew how to convey to us his love for a charming enclave that invites our imagination to fly. Do you want to feel like an ambassador arriving on horseback to this magical Umayyad city? So don't hesitate...

I moved to another time. It was a magical visit and our guide Maria was incredible. He made our visit very pleasant and described everything as if he had lived there. Very professional.
We went at night and I suppose that during the day the views will be different, but for me it was an experience to repeat a thousand times

Hi
How easy it is if we chose not to be with a tour and visit cordoba and Madenat Azahra by our self
Written October 11, 2018
Medinat Azahra is about 20 minutes away from Cordoba. You can either drive there or take a bus. It’s easily accessible like Cordoba but the history is so rich so unless you do lots of reading about what you are visiting a guided tour will be your best bet to learn quickly and efficiently about these amazing sites!
