    Definitely Recommend!
Kirk was terrific, easy to understand, let us sample aquavit!, kept it together during a downpour. Ended up being one of our favorite days of the entire cruise. Absolutely recommend it, he's a born teacher.

    Kiel walking tour
Definitely a walking tour. Some people had difficulty keeping up, so be aware. Our guide was informative, fun and gave us lots of practical information as well as the history. We really enjoyed it.

Making the most of a small town.
This is a brilliant walking tour to do whilst you are in Kiel. Kiel is a small town, but Kirk brings it to life and makes the most of what there is to see. Just wait outside the main cruise terminal upon arrival in Kiel and Kirk will find you. A highly enjoyable couple of hours spent with the Kiwi in Kiel.

An easy walk with a very informative guide equals a great time!
We got off our ship with no real plan, as we just wanted to casually explore the area by ourselves, when we saw Kirk in the cruise terminal and decided to join his walking tour. We enjoyed hearing the stories about Kiel and all the stories about the rich history here in this small town. Kirk is knowledgeable, funny and had many very interesting facts to tell about the area. His warm, welcoming personality made the walk very enjoyable. We gave him a nice tip and continued to explore and shop a bit before returning to our ship. Highly recommended. Thanks, Kirk, we really enjoyed it! Oh, and the local Aquavit was a very nice treat as well :)

An entertaining easy walk through Kiel
Kirk did a great job of pointing out the things of interest in Kiel, things that you would never see on your own. Much more relaxed that a cruise ship shore excursion. Must be that kiwi charm.

    What a find!
Kiel was towards the end of a rather arduous cruise with many ports of call. The previous day had involved a long bus ride and tour to Berlin and we decided to just amble in to Kiel and enjoy the city. While passing through the cruise terminal we saw a man holding a sigh that said "Free walking tours of city" at 0930. It was 0928. I asked if we needed a reservation. He said no. We were in. It was a great 2 hours. Kirk has a great style, a great combination of historical facts and humor. We enjoyed it immensely and would highly recommend joining his tour if possible. He found ways to make history engaging and provided enough background on German history to make things all make sense. Thank you Kirk!

    Enrichment tour of Keil
Kirk Wilson gives one of the most enjoyable walking tours in Europe. Although we were a large group of 40 (from our cruise ship), we had no difficulty hearing Kirk’s powerful voice delivering narrative during the tour. Besides showing us the highlights of this Naval town, and getting a little walking exercise to boot, Kirk entertained us with humorous anecdotes, delightful stories and historical facts about Keil. I count it as a very satisfying 2 hour enrichment tour. My recommendation is to skip Lubeck ( an arduous 2 journey by bus + train + bus) and enjoy the enchantments of Kiel. (Be sure to visit the Cafe Fiedler for coffee and kuchen - another German Enrichment custom). 😉

    Excellent tour and guide
The six of us in our group all agreed that we enjoyed Kirks tour better than any of the rest we have gone on over the last 10 days. Even though Kirk is a New Zealander (tongue in cheek :-) ) he is very informative with a wonderful sense of humour that we have come to expect from our Kiwi cousins. Kirk is excellent orator with a loud clear voice and surprisingly good English. Kirk offers a very easy to walk tour, Kirk will enthral with his knowledge of Kiel's history as he narrates the serious side and the somewhat humour side of this lovely German town. We highly recommend using this tour when travelling through Kiel. George n Lonia Western Australia

    Perfect way to sightseeing!
I was traveling alone but had a lot of fun on this tour. Kirk was very fun and told us about historical story of Kiel and it was way more interesting than reading a guid book. Kiel is a small city and there are not many things to do, so I highly recommend to join this tour if you are not sure where to go, he can give you a good suggestion end of the tour.

    Unexpected surprise
Expected to have a few hours mooching about Kiel on our port stop with HAL. Saw small group of people gathered at port gate about to start free walking tour with MAGGIE. Decided to join in and pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed it as we didn’t really rate Kiel as a port. Maggie being an Austrian making her home in Kiel made it interesting. This is probably the best way to spend time in Kiel if not doing a ship excursion out of town.

    Excellent tour
We were in Kiel on July 8, 2018, with cruise ship "Zuiderdam" (Holland America). Since the ship was leaving early that day (4 pm) we decided against going anywhere far by train choosing to stay in the city and stroll around. But we were really lucky: right next to the terminal we saw a group of people from the ship listening to a guide. It turned out that it was a free city tour from "Kiel Walking Tours" led by Kirk Wilson. We joined the group and were rewarded with a brilliant tour by a very knowledgeable and humorous guy. Even though Kirk is from New Zealand and has been staying in Kiel for 5 years only I am sure he knows about the place and its history more than an average person who was born and raised there. Besides, he renders his knowledge in a very clear and understandable way (which is hardly a surprise since aside from being a guide he is an English professor in local university). I can highly recommend Kirk's tour to everybody who comes to Kiel.

    Simple and concise
Were met at cruise terminal by Kirk. He took us around the city for about 2 hours seeing the sites and finishing in the city center. A great overview including seeing the sea lions feeding at the marina. Tour finishes in city center a 7 minute walk back to the pier. Kirk's humour enhanced the tour...and oh yes..we started with a toast with local alchahol drink..thanks Mirk .
