      Good time
They say online purchase your ticket online and save 40%, but it is still the normal price. We just walked in and then we got the discount!? It is not that big inside it was very quiet what is nice due covid-19. We had a good time, but it is not worth the normal full price. During covid-19 all the special experiences are canceled like the Show feedings and touch pools.

Few Animals, high cost but children love it
1)One should buy tickets exclusively online, we had to wait 90 min outside in the queue. The others marched through without waiting 2)The children were absolutely enthusiastic, me not so, but it was not for me anyway 3)For me, a kind of rip-off. As soon as you are in, a nervous lady , is offering you photos for 8 euros and the rest also costs, there are everywhere offers with costs, very pity and in addition to the entrance fee of 60 euros. The whole walk takes no longer than 30 minutes

      Too crowded!
There are some things that are not ideal in this aquarium. I only want to mention a few points of criticism here: Contrary to the information on the website, there was no express entrance. You had to stand in line though having an online ticket that was already printed out and wait until the customers in front of you paid their tickets in cash or by card, which took quite a long time. Then, one could walk a rather crowded loop in the narrow building, where the temperature was very warm and the stuffy air did not make the visit a pleasure. A lot of prams blocked the passages and it was not possible to overtake the visitors who were walking in front of you.

      Nice combo experience with Legoland
It is a fun experience, it is not that big but well maintained and fund to enjoy. It takes you two hours only to get through it. With the high number of foreign people visiting here (especially from Belgium and the Netherlands), you would expect more knowledge besides German.

      Great
Maybe it is not the best place in town to visit and see the aquarium however it’s one of the few places that you can have some time with children

      Fabulous fish
We went on Sunday. There was already a queue of 20 minutes when we turned up shortly before midday and the place was packed. Lots of families went with young children- kids in strollers or walking aided so 2- 3 years. There are lifts inside so you can get about with stroller but the paths are quite narrow and with so many people strollers just got in the way. The entrance is staggered so although it was busy it was a steady stream of people rather than a bung rush. There are lots of interactive places for kids, touch tanks, games, buttons and the aquariums are well maintained. There is a good variety of fresh water and salt water fish and at the entrance you can pick up a card to collect stamps along the way which is good for bigger kids (from about 6). There is not a lot of english in the kids games but all the descriptions of fish are in both english and german. They have a good shark tank, piranhas, stingrays, octopus and a wide variety of salt and freshwater fish. We spent two and a half hours here and we let the kids dictate the pace. there is also a very good environmental programme explaining the hazards of plastic waste to marine life and which fish to eat versus which to avoid to ensure maintaining the species. We all enjoyed it!

      Lots of colour
We went during the week to avoid the hoards at the weekend, (but noises can echo more when it is emptier ;-) However we were able to be able to view the fish/octpus/sharks in peace. It is quite a realxing activity and is is nicely done with fish everywhere - even over your head. There is info in english on the signs and you can ask some staff your questions . There is a glass bottom boat, but we weren't sure how to do that . Of course there is a cafe and gift shop at the end, with a large glass facade. Lots of sharks, turtles, seahorses and multi-colour fish, plus the odd otter.

A very good place to visit, especially for kids
I was there a while ago with my family, and i was very impressed of what i have saw in this town. They have plenty things to visit in a short distance, and 1 of them is Sea Life. Its very easy to find it,there are plenty park places near by,the cost is affordable. Now about the Sea Life:the waiting time in weekend its a little bit long (but if you buy the tickets online,is cheaper and you dont have to wait at all),inside is very well structured ,its amazing for kids to see the underworld with plenty fish species .A full tour it will take about an hour.

      Unfortunately not a good idea
We went there on a rainy Saturday which of course was not the best idea as many others had the same. The very long waiting time (60 minutes eventhough we bought a ticket online) was explained with the limitation of 30 people to be let inside at once. We didn't see any system. After 60 minutes in the rain (thank God they offered umbrellas) we were let inside family by family and the kids were stopped to take a picture at the entrance which of course you can buy at the end of your visit. The system of making people wait was not recognizeable inside. It was very dark and crowded. The ways are very tight and if you have a buggy with you it gets tough at several corners. If your kids are running around you get nervous after a short time to lose them. The aquariums are very beautiful but it seems like the will to earn money is bigger than the will to please the customers. Long story short: we paid a high price for a day which was supposed to be a highlight for the kids but was only stressful and disappointing. At some point they should really stop letting people in and wait until some come out. Too bad!

Nice informational diverse joyful and well maintained
Great place for kids to learn about sea life. There is a bit of everything including small sharks, a big sea turtle, catfish, rays, and morays. At 13 we listened to a story about different animals ( in German only), and we could touch some animals for in a special pool.

Unfortunately, you were through pretty quickly. But it was a very nice stay and the granddaughter was delighted. Especially she thought it was great that she could touch starfish and sea anemones and the stamp card. The painting action followed by animation of the painted page was also great for the little ones. As adults alone, I'm sure we would have stayed longer. Overall a nice experience

Yesterday I got to enjoy a really great trip to Sea Life Oberhausen. To be honest i really wasn't expecting much, maybe a few fish swimming around. I was very pleasantly surprised with what i found. This was my first time going to an aquarium here in Germany. After checking in we started the "tour de aquarium". Each section was very informative about what types of fish were there and their habitats. The interesting part for me was that the signs were bilingual, German and English. As we wandered through I saw that all of the exhibits tried to emulate the natural environments of the fish and other creatures. About Halfway through the tour we came to the big tanks with the rays and sharks, right beside the huge tank with everybody in it. At this point i happened to talk to a young man there named Dominic(Please forgive me if i misspell names) who was very informative about all of the creatures there and throughout the facility. After a while talking with him my group wandered further through and we took a break at the outside pavilion right by the river otters, which made for a great resting place while watching their antics. After our little break we came back to the area with the rays and sharks, where i happened to meet Nina Nina was a doll, she was very friendly and informative, and i enjoyed my talk with her. Dominic and Nina are both really great people to talk to because not only do you get your questions asked but they also provide enough additional information to answer questions that you didn't even know you had, LOL All of the exhibits were well maintained, and constructed in such a way as to maximize viewing of the creatures inside. At the end of the tour is a large viewing area that you can sit down and observe the great tank where everyone lives. As we were there i happened to see Dominic and he was able to talk at length about each species and the interactions of the different species together. I have to say that Dominic and Nina both were very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about what they do. They both showed a flair for not only understanding the questions but were able to answer them in such a way that at no time were the questioner made to feel inferior or unintelligent for not knowing something. All of the personnel that I interacted with were very friendly and courteous and i do apologize for not having everyone's names. They added an extra layer of enjoyment to an really great trip. The only real problem I had there was that some of the changes in the flooring weren't very clearly marked, to me, that could be a trip/fall hazard. Everyone in the group enjoyed our visit as well and we look forward to going back again soon.

We stayed at Sealife during the afternoon week. It was very empty, so we had a lot of time and peace to look at everything. An employee was always there to answer questions. Our little daughter (3 months) had a lot of fun admiring the colors and lights. The stroller can be taken into the aquarium or parked in an "indoor parking lot".
It was all in all a very nice stay. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and especially enjoyed the ocean beeking with the tunnel and the grotto to sit very much.

We drove over 2 hours to Oberhausen on a Saturday, we had previously looked on the Internet if you have to buy tickets online or if you can also buy them on site. Since we could not find anything on the Internet to reduce admission due to a disability card (NOT difficult), we decided to buy our tickets on site.
When we arrived, we were a bit ungalantly made aware in the queue outside the entrance that all those who had not bought a ticket in the online pre-sale could actually go home again, since hardly any tickets were left, and the few who were still there would hardly be enough for a family.
So we decided in short to buy tickets queuing up online - regardless of losses due to the disability not taken into account.
Shortly before the ticket office (after almost 30 minutes waiting with a two-year-old) we were told that our tickets were only for admission 1 1/2 hours later, so we could still visit the nearby shopping center.
When we stood in line again a quarter of an hour before our official admission time, we weren’t surprised how many of us had booked this time. Contrary to expectations, everyone was admitted and so we stood in one fell swoop with just under 60 others in the entrance area, where after our recommended stay in the shopping center it was explained to us that there were no compartments for personal valuables or similar items and unfortunately we had to take our bags and bags to the exhibition.
The first corridor resembles a narrow narrow avenue through which the first half of the visitors simply pushed through, as the crowd was too large.
After just under 10 minutes the crowd had spread a bit over the entire exhibition, but nevertheless you had to consider all other visitors at every aquarium, which is not a problem in itself, but rather unpleasant with an entrance fee of a small weekly shop.
The animals on site were beautiful to look at and our son also found it very exciting, but all in all we were just happy to be back at the door in the end (unfortunately without a final snack on site).
Unfortunately, I can't compare to visits during the week, but for all those who are planning a trip with their children on the weekend, I definitely recommend looking for something else, we were sorely disappointed with the overall ambience!

My wife and I visited SEA LIFE Oberhausen with our two young children (4 years and 9 months) on 17.08.2024, and it was just an unforgettable experience! The diversity of the sea creatures, the fascinating exhibitions and the lovingly designed aquariums have inspired us all equally.

Of particular note is the child-friendliness of the entire team and the facility. Our 4-year-old loved the many interactive stations, and even our baby enjoyed the colorful fish and the calming atmosphere. The paths are easily accessible and can also be easily driven with a stroller.

Every corner offers something new to discover, and you can tell how much passion has been put into this aquarium. We can recommend visiting SEA LIFE Oberhausen without restriction – it is a great excursion destination for families and an experience that will stay with us for a long time to come!

Sea life is massively negative towards severely disabled people , a severely disabled person , is forced with a pronounced dementia , left-sided hemiparesis type Wernicke man from the Centro parking garage to walk and visit Sea life , since no severely disabled parking spaces are generally not provided by Sea Life also not available on site , the Ruhrtopkarte for 2 people was 50 cents more removed , as is dated in the book , one should have shown the severely disabled with the Mz. G ,aG , B , H u. RF have a free access incl. accompanying person and do not additionally enrich themselves with per Ruhrtopkarte, corresponding indications of a price change were not available on site also was not referred to on site , I represent the legal interests of the severely disabled person , my grade for the Sea Life Oberhausen the grade 6 + absolutely not even to recommend ,
We and other disabled people and friends / acquaintances can do without such a visit ,

We were at SeaLife during the week, so there was no waiting time for us and there was plenty of space in front of the aquariums and no crowds at all. We spent a good 4 hours there with an interested five-year-old (although the first themed area was closed due to renovation work and the otters had taken time off because of the constant rain), including the "Behind the Scenes" tour. It's not very long, but feeding the sharks was an absolute highlight for our daughter. It was also presented competently, humorously and nicely - just as we found all the staff on the day to be very pleasant.

We therefore cannot understand the negative reviews at all - in an hour or even less, as some people here report, you can only get through it if you are not actually interested in the topic at all. But for us it was a really great day, thank you very much for that!

You have to reserve a specific time slot for your visits which makes sense in the busy season. What doesn’t make sense is that they allow thousands and thousands of people to visit at the same time. It was nearly impossible to see any fish cause of the sheer amount of people blocking everything. In other countries I doubt this would be allowed as it is a serious fire hazard too.

Tickets are hyper expensive for what knows, sometimes dead fish, little variety and quantity.
I would definitely recommend Nausicaa to Boulogne-sur-Mer.
    Parking very far and paid.
The staff does not speak French a minimum.
Having visited a lot of places I will never go to a sea life again.

We have been coming to Sea Life Oberhausen at irregular intervals for many years. During this time, it has unfortunately become clear that the facility is simply not developing any further. Many parts of the aquarium still look the same as they did 10 years ago and are becoming more and more dilapidated.

A huge problem that unfortunately even comes to light in the middle of the week are the very narrow corridors, which mean that even on relatively quiet days, visitors have to squeeze through the facility to see anything at all. Not for people with claustrophobia. You can completely forget about wheelchairs or strollers. Add to that the annoying music over the speakers. It is simply no fun to spend more than 20 minutes in the facility. Observing the animals in the aquarium in peace is simply not part of the Sea Life concept and that is a shame for €23 per person.

Highlights of the aquarium are the glass tunnel and the shark breeding tank, assuming you can actually see them. There is also a small outdoor area with Asian short-clawed otters, which breaks up the endless line of people a little. We would like to see more of that in the future. Perhaps it would be an opportunity to expand outside?

A personal thorn in our side are the VR games and other upsell gimmicks aka "immersive game box" in the exit area, which only make the already narrow path even smaller. The main thing is that the operators can earn a few euros more on the last meter with some device that is completely unsuitable for the theme. The best thing would be to put a claw machine in the middle of the glass tunnel - that will definitely be great!

We don't know whether Merlin is simply fed up with the facility or whether it is simply no longer profitable, but we will most likely not visit Sea Life Oberhausen again.
