About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Collin S0 contributionsReally Great TourDetailed and balanced tour of the red light district, pointing out the fun old stories and the hard lives of the women. The tour even included a beer, which was nice!Written October 5, 2024
- Roam277329277880 contributionsBeautiful tour by night…Beautiful tour of Hamburg’s Speicherstadt and working harbour by night. Gives a unique view of the city. Elbphilharmonie - superb sight. Get there early to get your spot… and forget about queueing! With usual German attention to having a good time, you can order a beer or wine at your table, from a very genial waiter. I left this tour even more in love with Hamburg than when we set off.Written September 17, 2024
- browncondo21020 contributionsGreat bussesBuses for the most part were on schedule and with 4 routes it got you around the area. We took the red route which circles through Athens and the blue route the next day which took us down around the cruise terminalsWritten June 8, 2024
- RLCZ700 contributionsGood ExperienceNice quiet evening tour, can sit inside or outside - better views and possibilities for photos if outside (depending on weather), food and drink options insideWritten June 2, 2024
- itchyfeet20140 contributionsBlue bus- nice journey- poor English commentaryWe hopped on to the blue hop on hop off bus outside the miniature Wunderland . The trip advertised included the old fish market so was longer than the regular tour. Driver was great as were the stops and views of this glorious city. The journey was let down by a continuous very loud commentary in German over the tannoy. We found the plug in ear phones and dodgy connection of the sound system gave a useless commentary for the English speaking channel. I would definitely try a different company for a tour as this spoiled our appreciation of this amazing city.Written May 28, 2024
- ilovemavi0 contributionsThe boat tour is nice yet the app and lack of English guide is unacceptable… mediocre setup. It’s just ok. When I read other reviews I thought maybe they did not follow the instructions. Let me give you a bit more details. I did download the app to listen the tour in English. The app does explain maybe 60% of the tour (the most important sites). When we enter the Speicherstadt area (canals), even before that area, there is no explanation in the app. Literally the last 30 to 45 min of the tour I don’t know what exactly I looked at or the importance of them. At that point I just took random photos or videos… Also if you order anything on the boat make sure to bring cash in euros. They don’t take dollars. When you want to pay with card, there is a 10 euros minimum charge… so over all it was disappointing, in a country like Germany.Written May 19, 2024
- Slimjim050 contributionsWorthwhile tripTook the 1.5 hour harbour trip. Downloaded the app as recommended so we could understand the commentary. The app started off as we left the dock and then the commentary stopped. It did return for another five minutes later on. Slightly disappointed as we knew the commentary was going to be in German but thought the app would allow us to listen in English Trip took us to Speicherstadt one way and then down to the container port and cruise terminal Recommend if you are English and happy yo fo without commentary or understanding of sitesWritten May 6, 2024
- Slimjim050 contributionsGood routeThe your route gave us a good understanding of Hamburg and where we might want to go We had earphones yo listen in English however the German commentary was so loud it was difficult to listen via the earphones which totally spoilt the commentary We have done hop on hop off buses in other cities around Europe snd the time you buy the ticket runs until the same time 24 hours later. These tickets run from when you buy the tickets until close of business the same day. We did not realise this do the ticket was very expensive from the time purchased 1pm. 16euros eachWritten May 2, 2024
- parissmiles0 contributionstake this boat tourThis was one my best experiences in Hamburg. I was impressed with all of the activities taking place in the harbor. I did not need to understand German to know what I was looking at.......Written April 5, 2024
- C3095YNadriand0 contributionsExcellent tourGreat trip taking us through a lot of districts we would never have visited. Luka was an excellent tour guide, very friendly & knowledgeableWritten March 27, 2024
- AJJ90 contributionsNot the best!Odd tour all the way around. Started with confusion with the staff on where it started. “Brucke 7. No Brucke 1. No it’s Brucke 7.” In the end we went to Brucke 1 - like it told us on the email and got on a boat. It ended up being the right boat for the 1:30 tour and we left at 1:02! Once we got on, everyone else on the boat had been offered beverages. No one offered us any. As for the actual tour, it needed more time near the HafenCity for me. It spent about 10-15 minutes in that area and the rest of it was about shipping and industry. Odd. Strange. Ok.Written February 28, 2024
- Tiffany N0 contributionsPerfect for historical knowledge and experienceThe city has such a rich history that is thoroughly explained and highlighted all throughout the tour. There is an app for English speakers to listen to as they take the tour. The app was a bit out of order, but easy enough to navigate. They offer inside seating or up on the back deck. Overall, it was the highlight of my time in Hamburg during a day stop on a cruise. Lovely walk from the cruise terminal to get to the port, with a stroll through the city's famous tunnel. I was also able to visit some of the places that we visited while in the harbor.Written February 26, 2024
- David L0 contributionsUnforgettable! It was fun! The map link on the Trip Advisor website took us to the wrong meeting place but fortunately we had left enough time. We only saw the sign to download the English audio at the end of the trip so we hadn’t a clue about what the guy was saying but we still managed to enjoy the ride. As we were travelling towards the experience we say the largest container ship in the world docking, and our ride included a close up view of it at the end. It extended the trip and was a fabulous experience.Written February 10, 2024
- Georgina M0 contributionsGreat tourFlorian was an amazing guide, he was incredibly personable, funny, interesting and has so much knowledge of the area. I couldn't recommend him enough to people, he made the 2 hours fly past with our tour and covered so much with us.Written December 31, 2023
- petermbenglish0 contributionsA great way to get a feel of this great cityDespite the November weather, we had a great time. The ferry was warm, and the large windows allowed an excellent view. The English audio tour was inevitably more limited than the live one (in German) as, being pre-recorded, it could not react to the current events - the particular ships on the water etc. I should perhaps have realised how huge the harbour was. This was an excellent introduction to HamburgWritten November 9, 2023

The Elbe is not so beautiful. Very industrial. They put me on a boat with all German narration even though it was clear that I did not speak German. Didn’t discover this until we were underway. Unless you want to see shipping containers, skip this trip!

Dear Customer,
We are sorry that you did not like the Port of Hamburg and the Elbe. A boat trip through the port of Hamburg is not comparable to a gondola tour in Venice. The port of Hamburg is the second largest port in Europe and it is logical that container terminals with their huge ships, cranes and tugboats can be found here. But that is exactly what makes this tour interesting and unique. Regarding the translation of the tour in English, you have received the instructions for downloading the app for translation via email, and in addition, on each ship there are also posters with information and the activation code for the app on the ship walls.
Unfortunately, as in this case, very often this information is not read, which leads to problems of this type. And this cost us a bad review like yours.
Kind regards,

Skip this cruise unless you are interested in seeing the mechanics of shipping containers being unloaded off of freighters , similar to Port Elizabeth as seen from the NJ turnpike. The Elbe has some beautiful areas, none of which we saw. It was all in German, supposedly an app for English, but we didn’t have any earbuds. Thankfully it was a beautiful day, they sell beer and drinks, we sat on the very top, so all was not lost, except $70

The meeting point is not very clear once you are at the address that the email confirmation says. I tried to talk with the people from the company and they said that I needed a QR code to get in on the boat, something that you don’t get, you only get a confirmation number and they say this is not enough. I had to call customer service since we lost one of the boat that we were planning to take and this messed up a bit our schedule. The customer service agent was telling to go to a specific place with a specific person but this is not very helpful when you are talking through the phone. At the end the staff for the company felt pity for us and he let us go to the boat without a QR code.

As we do not speak German, we had to pay extra for an audioguide. They only asked if we had smartphones with us, which we had. But they never asked if we had earphones, which are absolutely necessary to hear the commentary.
When I wrote to ask for a refund, they answered they would not give us any because we had paid cash for our tickets and had no proof of purchase.
I think the one who should be suspected of dishonesty is not me but the Abicht company !

Entertainment and sightseeing in one go
It took 2 hours to get to the villa district and then to the container port and the cruise ships and later to the Elphie.
There was entertainment through live commentary and it was funny and informative.
The coffee was terrible though. Prices were high. Typical for tourist trips.
Definitely worth a trip if you haven't already done a harbor tour.

Unfortunately the whether was awful, raining and cold. This is why one has to check the whether well before doing this trip. The harbour was incredible, big, massive. To see the huge cranes, the colossal cargo ships and the way they are loading by these cranes were very interesting.
If you are interested in machines you must do this trip.
The cappuccino they served before the boat leaves, was terrible. They charged 4 Euros for this. :-(

Sporadic English guide via app. The German guide explained continuously, so it was not entirely satisfying not to get all the nuances and stories.

Yes, most likely a replica, but a good one, very nice authentic looking interiors. Nonetheless, for the view, everyone is on the top deck, which is steel absent any charm. On my trip, the wooden bar on the second floor interior was closed, so the only service was on the top steel deck.
