I've booked the tour through St-Pauli and joind the free tour and was amazed by the guide, Umut, as well as by what he had to tell about Hamburg and St. Pauli. Umut is a very nice guy with a lot of knowledge he is happy to share. Especially the mix of history, fun facts and the advice for where to go if you like local cuisine, Burger, Pizza... made it a fantastic tour.

Traveling to big European cities, I usually try to participate in a free walking tour from Sandeman. The guides are always friendly, active, fun, knowledgeable and really passionate about their jobs.
Trip to Hamburg was not an exception!
We did a free walking tour with Kalvin, who is very much in love with Hamburg and introduced the city very well. The next day we joined St.Pauli tour with Adrian. Despite the rainy weather, he was very encouraging and did his job really great! He knows the district and its history very well, answered all our questions and let us enjoy the atmosphere (even though it’s not that lively after Corona yet). Great tour guide!
Thank you guys for making our Hamburg experience better! You are doing an awesome job!

I went on the free tour and on the St. Pauli tour with Kalvin Brookes.
My favourite part was St. Nicholas church! I really enjoyed both tours a lot, mostly because of Kalvin's eloquent and vivid way of explaining. He also gave us great tips to have a great and safe Hamburg experience :)

I signed up for this tour because I wanted a taste of the St Pauli area but didn’t want to explore alone. I was able to learn the history of sex and rock n roll in the area including legal prostitution and the venues where the Beatles played. Kelvin really made the tour with his clear enthusiasm of Hamburg and friendly attitude. I went on a Monday which was good because it is the quiet day where the bars and streets are not crowded. My one request would be to return to the starting place at the end of the tour.

We started on Saturday 16/2/2019 before noon with the free tour in old Hamburg and loved it so much because of kalvin’s way of delivering all the historical information (1842 fire 🔥🔥) and facts, the tour was excellent and such a success so we booked for the same evening the tour St. Pauli, which was wonderful as well.
Thank you Sandman’s and thanks KALVIN
hope to come visit again soon. Keep up your excellent job.

3 hours after we arrived the first time in Hamburg, we participated in the tour. It was a really nice and funny tour with Kalvin. On different points of the tour he told us interesting, funny, creepy and/or weird facts resp. myths about the city and their citizens.
For the first little overview this tour is really nice.
Thanks to Kalvin🤙🏼

Today I have spent about 5 hours in the company of tour guide Kalvin Brookes, a knowledgable and funny South African guy. And I would definitely recommend others to do the same. We started the day with a free tour of Hamburg, which took us around the old parts of the city down to the harbour. I teach history in Denmark so I really appreciate it when I get information I couldn't just get from a quick Google search. Especially when we take it a step further and get historical details, whether it's about how the vikings tortured the Germans (sorry about that) or how the British bombed the churches. The information is balanced off with a great portion of laughter and humour.
In the evening we met up with Kalvin again, this time to let him guide us down the "Mile of sin" in St. Pauli. This time we got more of the stories from the red light district and the life of the drunken (perverted - bless them!) people. Again, we got so many stories that we couldn't have found on our own and we came home knowing much more about this great city.

Kelvin Brooks was a brilliant tour guide and had plenty of insightful facts about Hamburg. We learnt a lot about the history of the city that we had previously not known before, specifically Operation Gomorrah in WW2 and the Great Fire of 1842. But there was a lot more quirky information from him than simply just that!
Whilst on our break in the coffee shop he mapped out directions for us to a beer house and highlighted the best strip of the Reeperbahn which set us up well for the rest of our final day.

I see from the itinerary that we will finish the tour at the fish market. Will we be able to dine there after the tour especially with consideration of the time the tour finishes? Thanks.

Yes, look for the sandemans tours, they offer tours in english and spanish in several cities in Europe including Hamburg. The tour is free, you only have to register before and give a tip to the guide at the end.

This will be my first time in Hamburg, I saw this walking tour and thought it would be a good start to sightseeing the City.
I see it commences at 7.00pm. As I consider this too early to have eaten Dinner, does tour stop for eating along the way, or will I plan to visit a Restaurant at 10.00pm after Tour finishes? Dudleigh

We did not stop for dinner! I would eat something before because it is a lot of walking!
