About
The club culture has a special status in Berlin and is certainly unique in this form worldwide. The fall of the wall favored the creation of these places. Many new open spaces in the middle of Berlin made it possible to experiment without high fixed costs.
These places have an important cultural function. They create safe spaces for their visitors, are constantly changing and maintain a close relationship with the art scene. There is even an influence on urban development, for example with the project on the Holzmarkt.
And politics is slowly discovering that, in addition to the cultural factors, the clubs are also an immense economic factor in the city, with a turnover of around 1.5 billion euros a year.
We want to go on a search for clues and see why the club scene is so important for the city and how it can be protected in the future.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Martina P0 contributionsIndividual tour around TiergartenWe had a business meeting in Berlin and booked Tobi for a walk from our meeting venue to the restaurant where we had dinner that evening. It was a perfect tour along and around the Tiergarten as Tobi knows so much about Berlin and how to tell things and stories in an interesting way. We really enjoyed it and would book him any time again.Written October 14, 2019
- Bourkejulie0 contributionsA colourful tour of KreuzbergTobi organized a tour of Kreuzberg for my class of International Business students. He shared a perfect mix of local history, street art and other elements of sub-culture with us and, of course, migrational background to Berlin. It was informative and highly entertaining and the two hours just flew by!!Written July 9, 2018
- nataliajozwiak0 contributionsGreat fun and very informative!I participated in Tobi's guided tour last Saturday. It was awesome, to say the least! Tobi knows a lot about Berlin and its history! Not only the standard stuff, but also the tiny details that only a person really passionate of Berlin's history could know! Anybody who is interested in Berlin's history should definitely take part in his guided tours! I am certainly doing it again! Very soon!Written April 17, 2017
- Robert N0 contributionsGreat AfternoonNice little tour of Berlin's historical core. Friendly guide with a genuine interest in the theme he focused on. Thanks!Written January 22, 2017
- Katie V0 contributionsGives you a fresh look at everything Berlin. If you're looking for a traditional, tourist tour of Berlin, this is not it. From the Kaisers Frederick to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Tobi brings a fresh approach to exploring a city that has been reinventing itself for centuries. Highly recommended for visitors new and old, and even residents of the city itself.Written July 28, 2016
- TravelerSofia0 contributionsThe coolest guide aroundWhat can I say about Tobi or Berlin. Tobi is Berlin and visa versa. He lives for the culture and people. It was a very interesting tour also because I didn't think embassies were my cop of tea. I also met some people that became my friends. ❤️Written July 21, 2016
- Johannes L0 contributionswhen visiting a new city, who wouldn't want to explore it's sights and hidden gems with a friend.when visiting a new city, who wouldn't want to explore it's sights and hidden gems with a friend. that is exactly how a tour with tobi feels like. the time passes by unnoticed in a relaxed friendly atmosphere while tobi will provide you with interesting background story, facts and fun facts. and the best is his genuin excitement and love for the city the he is guiding you through. so don't hesitate to ask him stuff or start a group discussion... Already did two tours, and I will surly attend the next ones as well!Written July 20, 2016
