First of all, a bit about our guide, Paul. He was incredible. Full of information, including history leading up to the war, and spent time on the journey telling us the background and showing things of interest. He could answer every question, and was obviously passionate about history and the area. He actually made our visit, and for that we cannot thank him enough.

From purchasing the tickets to meeting our guide to getting back to our hotel, the process was easy.

The journey is long on the train, followed by a 15 minute walk to Sachsenhausen, so be aware of that.

The actual place - I don’t think I can put into words what it was like. The thought of being there, and hearing and imagining what the prisoners went through, was humbling, and made us reflect on how lucky we are.

We didn’t take photos, as did not feel it was right to do so (our personal view), and we were also so busy listening to Paul we didn’t really think about taking any.

There is a café- we thought there wasn’t so took some lunch with us, but would eat at the café if we returned as it looked nice food (soup/sandwiches/cake) and was reasonably priced.

The biggest advice we would give is take a coat, even if it is not particularly cold. The wind across the open space was biting at times.

We would say this is an unmissable trip, and be prepared to be moved. And ask for Paul - you won’t be disappointed.

I took this tour with three of my friends and we all agreed that is was one of the best tours we had been on in any country and of any type. Our guide was Paul and he could not have been more knowledgable, well-spoken, respectful, or patient (especially with with our many questions). It was an extremely powerful experience and I highly recommend taking the time to do this tour and to remember that the atrocities that occurred there were truly not that long ago. In addition to this tour, we ended up doing another walking tour of Berlin with Paul and followed some of his recommendations for restaurants and such! Thank you!!

We had a fantastic 3.5 hour tour (we met at the camp itself) with Paul. He was extremely knowledgeable and made excellent use of the time. He gave a great introduction, setting the place in historical context, and throughout the tour helped make connections and answer questions.
It's a lot to take in, but like he said at the end of the tour... we are all better people for looking squarely at history, and for trying to honor and remember the victims. We were a large group of parents and high school students, and communicating with the head of the tour company prior to the tour itself was also excellent -- quick response time! Highly recommend, and will definitely use them again.

I highly recommend this tour. The tour guide, Paul, is so knowledgable, friendly, and had an in depth and fascinating answer to every question. He knows so much and is happy to share his knowledge. He's also just a really nice guy and takes the time to get to know everyone on the tour. Visiting Sachsenhausen is eye opening and in some ways very upsetting, but so important. This tour takes a thorough and respectful look at the camp. If you're considering this tour then definitely go ahead and book. Thanks Paul!

We are a group of 18 students who opted for a guided tour on 12 March, 22 and our guide was Paul. He was an absolute pleasure to be with! Paul was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions patiently. I would also like to thank Aaron who was handling the operations at the back end to organise a group trip with us. Overall, this trip is highly recommended - if you come to Berlin and do not visit this, you're missing out !!!

Paul is an amazing guide for this tour. We were a group of 17 with a mix of adults and high schoolers. Paul kept everyone's attention striking a balance of facts, stories and history. He kept everyone's attention and was happy to answer questions. He provided appropriate context and compassion for this somber place. Paul was extremely friendly and is a native English speaker. I highly recommend taking this tour and using Paul as your guide.

My son and I were on a brief visit to Berlin and chose this tour….good call. Paul was at the meeting site early, very friendly, and patient as other your members were a bit late.

Paul was an amazing tour guide. His ability to place is back in time, and provide the context for the events that occurred made the tour of such a somber place compassionately educational.

He shared his knowledge and recommendations for everything from transportation and refreshment to follow-on sites, shopping and dining.

Very good opportunity to learn a party of history. Paul was an excellent guide, very friendly, open to exchanging ideas about our own history. He answered in detail every question that was asked. I would definitely recommend this tour for people who want to find out more about what happened. Paul, if you are reading this, come to Romania, you’ll find interesting stuff about the country’s history.
