About
With this bus tour to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial, our professional, English-speaking guide will provide a running commentary on the way, preparing you for the tour through Sachsenhausen with background information on the early years of the Nazi camp system. Sachsenhausen- the first concentration camp that was built from the ground up to be a camp, planned and designed for maximum control. Enter the old barracks, learn about daily life for the inmates of the camp, and how hard labour, starvation, disease, torture and death were a part of daily life. See where people were gassed, shot by firing squad, or hanged. The East Germans memorialised Sachsenhausen in 1961, and today you can experience the location where atrocities were committed, as well as discover how the Germans deal with their history today, and how they come to terms with their past. For every ticket sold we donate €2 towards the upkeep and future restoration of the former concentration camp

Chilling but Must Do
Mar 2020 • Couples
An excellent day, led by our supremely knowledgable, very personable and enthusiastic leader, Mike Stack. (Who even took the time to chat about my Uncle’s Bomber Command service) The chilly, wet weather added to the atmosphere of this chilling place. A must do visit, appreciating the history. A++++ all the way.

Great tour - super informative
Dec 2019 • Family
We went to Sachsenhausen with Gabi who was absolutely amazing. She was so knowledgeable about the camp, the history surrounding the war and Germany’s political history and was very friendly, inclusive and helpful. The tour itself was the perfect length of time - 10am - 2pm and the coach drive out was very comfortable. Highly highly recommend.

I expected to be moved just simply because of the nature of the tour, but our guide Julian left me speechless with the detailed information and insight. One of the most knowledge filled tours I’ve taken. Would recommend bus trip over train trip.

In-depth Look into the Heart of Evil
Aug 2019
Our tour guide, Jamie, was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable about Sachsenhausen and the Nazi era of concentration and extermination camps. Taking the bus to the site was an excellent choice. Jamie's commentary began as soon as the bus pulled out, so we had an overview before we reached Sachsenhausen. Learning about this site's role in the planning of Hitler's mass murder campaign was heart-wrenching and provides a cautionary tale for all.

Outstanding Small Group Tour to Sachsenhausen
Aug 2019
Our guide, Walid, was one of the best tour guides I've ever had on a group tour. He provided so much history and background that I didn't know. He invoked his personal opinions, gently and diplomatically. I was only sorry the tour with him was only 4 hours. As for Sachsenhausen - as with so many of the German memorial sites, there is more information than one can possibly take in. It has been preserved just enough to be illustrative and impactful.

Mistake by Tour Representative
Jul 2019 • Family
Overall very good. When I arrived the person at the meeting place insisted I needed ABC Train ticket even though this tour was by bus. So I ended up purchasing 4 one way tickets and a tour staff member, trying to help punched two of the train tickets to validte them. After I bought the tickets I challenged the greeter about needing train tickets and she said she was sorry she did not notice that our tour was by bus. Our tour guide offered and bought two of the train tickets from me but I was out of pocket for the two that had been punched and validated. This was a wasted extra cost since I already had a Berlin card and we had no trips planned to Zone C in Berlin.

Re the tour I found it very interesting. I thought our tour guide could have better used the time spent walking to the entrance from the bus drop off point and other time while we were walking to provide more information specifically about Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. I also felt the tour was about 30 minutes too short, so we were rushed through seeing the information in the buildings at the site including the barracks.
