About the operator
- katibeec00Not just for Bowie fansReally enjoyed this; Dan was a superb guide who led us across the city with music (by Bowie, of course, but also influences, collaborators, and others) playing from his portable speakers. We learnt about why Bowie came to Berlin, his cultural inspirations including Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, and how “Heroes” sounds like it does… and loads more. We learnt things about the city that would be interesting to any one, Bowie fan or not. One of the best things, for us at least, was that Dan mentioned in passing a 100-year-old cinema, the Babylon, which still plays silent movies with a live orchestra - which was how we ended up seeing Fritz Lang’s Metropolis that Saturday night at that lovely old cinema with a superb live orchestra. Thanks Dan!!
- catherinebX3527GJ00Bowie in Berlin Sound & Vision 2023Our guide Rachel arrived on time & was very personable, knowledgable & informative. She was happy to answer our many questions (even those not related to Bowie). Only 2 of us on the tour but Rachel covered all bases- for a general Bowie fan to an enthusiastic devotee & lead us confidently through Berlin streets & the transport system of trains & buses leading us to places we probably wouldn’t have found on our own.Sometimes there was even a soundtrack to add relevancy to the location & connection to Bowie. The time really flew by & at the end Rachel pointed us in the right direction to food & transport to get us back to the centre of Berlin. Would definitely recommend Rachel - thank you for a really enjoyable afternoon
- Mark C00Cool tourMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide Dan was great to hang with and was very personable and did a fantastic job. It was great to see a lot of the landmarks and hear the stories behind Bowie’s time in Berlin. Highly recommend!
- Han S00Bowie at 30,40,50 and 60!Dan Borden from Insight Cities (out of Seattle, WA) gave us a spectacular time-capsule of a whirlwind tour that culminated in the diverse neighborhood that became home to the starman from Brixton. The tour ended at the apartment that David Bowie made home of as a Berliner in 1977. Dan took us through the life that Bowie chose in this divided city (circa GDR) leaving the safe confines of the Hollywood Hills to live amongst the immigrant rich populations of inner city Berlin. David Bowie often rode his bike in 1977 to Hansa Studios while working on Low and hit-inspired tunes like “Heroes”. As a young father at 30 years of age, he was mesmerized by the city. Dan went into detail highlighting the many colorful visits that Bowie made in Berlin hobnobbing with Tilda Swinton and working with the likes of Iggy Pop (his friend and roommate at the time), Brian Eno and Tony Visconti…, etc. Dan Borden showcased a fascinating and exuberant time when creativity had no bounds set against the backdrop of a very creatively vibrant city. Highly recommended tour even if you were not such a huge Bowie fan! You soon will be.
- Odyssey4351260730900Great Tour.Ronan organized a very well planned and well thought out route. He was very well researched in David Bowie's life whilst in Berlin
- Michael M00Dan and The DikeThe David Bowie tour with Dan is an excellent way to discover everything Bowie about Berlin. Dan is a fountain of knowledge about Bowie and Berlin, and he imparts that knowledge in a very friendly witty manner. We couldn’t recommend this tour with Dan highly enough……. do it if you can, if you share any love for the thin white duke.
- annfS9130SQ00An excellent tourA really enjoyable tour. Lee has a wealth of knowledge of both Bowie and the history of Berlin. It did not matter if you knew a little or a lot, as Lee shared information in a comfortable and relaxed fashion. Since our return we have each recommended this tour.

- johannesrP9423TJ00A great day in great company! Our guide dan, was the man! Great knowledge and nice delivery. Made us feel comfortable, while learning. We also got introduced to a new part of the city, that was full of exciting stories to be told. Would recommend!!!!
- heatherhaleriggs00Bowie Bonanza! As a major David Bowie fan, it's been a “bucket list” dream to visit some of the meaningful sites of his life and career in Berlin. So, my expectations were sky-high, and yet they were far exceeded! Our guide, Dan, really made the experience for us. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and an all-‘round great person to spend the afternoon with. Dan incorporated music and visuals to add context to the sites we saw in such a creative and memorable way. The small group format worked particularly well for this style of tour. Even as someone who arrived knowing quite a lot about Bowie, I still learned a ton of fascinating new information. Look no further if you, too, love Bowie - this is the tour for you!
- Terje S00Top Bowie tour in hot BerlinVery nice David Bowie tour with interesting facts about Berlin alongside Bowie News of the past. Guide with top skills 😎

It’s hard to please a group of “smarty pants” who claim to know the town - but Klaus did it, and he did it well, with passion and patience. People particularly loved the stop at “Markthalle 9”, and the group laughed out loud on Rio-Reiser-Platz, where anecdotes about the singer/songwriter were exchanged.
All in all, it was the walking around the places of interest that stood out, i.e. Klaus’ choice of locations for our little stops: everybody “kind of knows” Kreuzberg, and people told me, they would visit occasionally, but no one ever walked the whole ‘hood. So, people were surprised about the connections that Klaus made evident on the tour. Also, the restaurant recommendation was a big hit!
