About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Compass318059927160 contributionsWW2 / Cold War tourVery informative, definitely recommend doing this tour , our guide oren certainly knows his stuff. And he explained events of history with passion, thank you Oren !Written December 4, 2024
- 220vivienh0 contributionsGood but not great. This was a perfect tour to see the Cold War sites of Berlin. However, there was not enough time to take photos and needed to return to some parts on a following day. At one stage our guide crossed a road and continued his tour but several of the group had been left behind when the traffic lights changed. All in all the guide had a good knowledge however at times seemed uncertain and his photo folder could have been more organised.Written December 4, 2024

- stephens4730 contributionsGreat TourWe met up with our Guide outside the Railway Station and were shown onto a very modern and comfortable bus with air conditioning. The guide was very friendly and spoke very good English , my only comment was he tended to ramble on and forget what he was talking about. It took about 50 minutes to get to our destination where we ere dropped off near the small museum. Our guide then gave us a brief over view of the site before we set off to walk to the actual compound. Please be aware there is a lot of walking and I mean a lot of walking on uneven surfaces and hardly anywhere to sit and rest. The sun was out and it was quite mild in Berlin, but be aware it is a very exposed site and gets very , very cold. There are toilets and a small shop on site. You approach the camp through the original Tower A and you are met by a desolate landscape giving a sense of the unimaginable horrors that took place here. You can climb the tower which gives you an overview of what lies ahead. You visit a reconstructed prisoner barracks where there is also a chilling exhibition . You then walk round to the original cell block and again try and take in the horrors that took place here. You then walk round to see the execution pit , ovens and other horrific torture sites. Our guide was very informative and was happy to answer questions. This is a very moving and thought provoking tour and definitely worth a visit when in Berlin.Written December 2, 2024

Maria D was wonderful as a guide. She was excellent and her background in history really provided a context for us to appreciate all the information she gave us for each of the highlights, We had a chance to reflect and had a very good discussion after one of our stops. I highly recommend MariA D as a guide for anyone who is interested in this tour. We covered a lot of ground and we learned so much in this tour.

If you are considering a guided walk of the City, the Insider Tour is absolutely brilliant. Our walk was led by the incredibly knowledgeable and lovely Kiwi Mike, whose infectious love of the German capital just adds to the tour. Even the freezing cold weather, biting wind and snow didn’t dampen his and our enthusiasm.
Insider Tours offer a variety of tours of the city including Hitler and WWII, Behind The Wall and a tour of a Consentration Camp. We took the “Famous Walk” which takes in all the main sites in a half day tour, including Hitler’s Bunker, Museum Island, The Berlin Wall and the Jewish Memorial. All along the walk, Mike provided us with great details, background stories to the sites and insider tip of other things to see and places to go. Mike also had photos and iPad clips to show us how buildings looked before, during and after the war - a great addition.
We also had a welcome 20 min coffee and and bathroom break half way through the tour in a local coffee shop (a chance for us all to heat up for a while!!).
The Insider Tour really is a fantastic way to spend half a day and see so much of this beautiful city, we couldn’t recommend it more and if you are lucky enough to have Mike as your guide, you couldn’t possibly be disappointed.

We were met at the ship by a very nice driver who drove us to Berlin. He explained that the autobahn was undergoing repair and it would take us an extra approx. 30 mins....it took more like an extra hour. We arrived and met Rachel the tour guide. She said oh your late and rushed us thru the tour. We went to a memorial and i asked how many blocks were in the design....and I quote" I know but I won't tell you, because the artist doesn't want you to know" ergo....I dont know. When we got back to the ship we found out from all the others on the ships tours how many there were. She was cold, and we finished the tour at 3.30 and were packed off to the ship where we arrived just after 8, the driver took us thru the back roads and it it took nearly 4.40 hours to get back. At one point we were concerned that we were not going to make sail time, so the driver was driving at 160km in the rain. The kicker is we paid $1525.32 for this 4 hour tour of Berlin + a 1 hour lunch at a local restaurant. The ships tours were way more value, and none of the people eon the ships tour were in the bus for more that 3 hours and 40 minutes. I called Viator to complain, and was told the guide is very pleasant and we got our moneys worth. We have used Viator many times before but this shall be the last. DONT USE VIATOR FOR BERLIN. The ships tours are better for this. Too bad we had such a lousy experience!!!!

Dear CURTISA158
Thank you for your feedback on this tour. Unfortunately, on the day of your trip, there was some works in progress on the motorway. The driver was compelled to take a detour, which took longer than he had estimated. He really couldn‘t have know exactly how long it was going to take as he hadn‘t experienced it before. He gave you an estimation. It was an exception on that day. We're not really sure what anyone could have done about that.
We are sorry that you didn‘t click with our guide on the day. She may just have been stating a fact on arrival. The guide, in tandem with the driver, judged how long one could comfortably tour in Berlin, fitting in as much as possible, while keeping a comfortable departure time in mind for you. Our guide showed you as much of Berlin as was possible on the day. We are sorry that you felt it was rushed, but again we felt it best to show you as much as possible on the day. At no time did our guide and driver ever think that you would be late for your ship. They had planed the detour time into the time needed in Berlin and the duration of the corresponding return journey. In our 20 years of conducting shore excursion tours, no guest of ours has ever been even close to not making the ship‘s departure time.
We are sorry that you found the price expensive. A private tour with vehicle, guide and driver exclusively for you is certainly different in every way from the big bus tours organised by the ships.
Here's wishing you many happy travels in the future!

We had a limited amount of time, having come from a cruise ship in Warnemünde - 3 hours from Berlin. Ulli showed us the main sites, explained the history and was a very pleasant presence throughout.
I can highly recommend this tour - I travelled with a daughter in her early twenties.

We did the hidden Berlin tour with insider Berlin and loved it. While it is a long drive from Rostock, it is well worth your time and money. Our guide Anne grew up as a east Berliner and saw the wall coming down as a teenager. We saw a lot of the major sites and finished the day at a great German beer garden. A really nice day. Our driver micha was also very nice and got us back to our port swiftly before we sailed. Highly recommended!!!
