We were a group of four, with two being WWII history enthusiasts. He was easy to talk to, had a great sense of humor, and could answer all the questions we had. - valbT9236LF0 contributionsDemocratic GermanyOur guide was wonderful - so informative, great sense of humour and had organised many relevant sites in an easy walk for all ages. After going through the tight Communist security of Check Point Charlie in 1980, it was so enlightening to see East Germany in a liberated light and understand more recent history leading to significant memorials today. Just a must-see tour to appreciate our democratic system today.Written October 7, 2024
- 986jeanlucm0 contributionsFun, Beautiful, EnlighteningWe had a wonderful time seeing the highlights of Potsdam, with Tobi. We saw so many beautiful palaces, sculptures, gardens, etc... Along the way, Tobi regaled us with entertaining and enlightening stories about the history of the sites and the area, including Prussian history, as well as WW2 and East Germany history. There was a lot of walking, but they were very pleasant walks, through beautiful neighbourhoods and parks. The tour is also very well-designed, with a coffee/snack break, a transit break which gives you a chance to sit and rest for a bit, and some chances to take some free time to wander and take pictures in some areas. Despite the coffee/snack break, I was happy I brought a granola bar with me, so I would recommend bringing a light snack with you.Written October 7, 2024

Our guide for the tour was Grayson, he was so knowledgeable and informative, he brought the guide to life by showing photographs throughout making this a tour about the real people that are often forgotten about. We highly recommended this tour and this guide for anyone looking to find out about the rise of Hitler and the following effects of the cold war.Written October 6, 2024

We were so impressed by our guide Betty! She showed us an amazing, knowledgeable and in-side view of Berlin. When we met, Betty asked us what we wanted to see in Berlin. My sister Bridget and I said Berlin through your eyes…in addition we wanted to sit and have a beer!! We got both and so much more! Walking through the streets looking at the different styles of architecture, sitting on a bench learning about the East Berlin experience, feeling the art along the “wall” and visiting the memorials scattered throughout the city. Betty wanted to know what we thought, how we felt about our experiences along our walk. We were able to explain, we felt humbled by the loss of life eternally memorized in such beautiful ways, enamored with the beauty of the architecture (new and old) but most of all the German-ness of Berlin was divine. Our beer sipping (Betty had a hot chocolate) was the perfect ending to a perfect day! Thank you Betty for showing us Berlin through your eyes!!

We had a great tour with Peter! He had lots of interesting stories which we really enjoyed, and was incredibly knowledgeable and sensitive about world war 2 and the Cold War in Berlin. Fun and thought provoking, I’d recommend to everyone. We are a family with a teenage girl and boy- often hard to please!

Probably the best guided tour I have done, thoroughly enjoyable and hugely informative. Our guide Daniel was very engaging, had a great way of explaining things, lovely with words, and demonstrated an incredible depth of knowledge on the subject, and more broadly on contemporary topics. We largely seemed to amble from one place to the next, felt more like a casual stroll with a friend, the 4 hours went in a flash (in fact we went half hour over without realising…). Would highly recommend this tour.

Thanks for an amazing walking tour of Berlin - John Jerome is an extremely knowledgeable and clearly has the love and passion of Berlin history. In particular he ran the tour with us - bunch tourism professionals who were still a bit shocked and stuck in Berlin after the ITB conference was canceled due to covid19. We weren't the best kind of travelers but we did appreciate John and the tour immensely. Thank you!!

This was one of the best historical tours I've ever had. Our guide, Thomas, was incredibly knowledgeable about everywhere we went. The tour was crafted in such a way that weaved the history into the sites we saw, and all of our questions were answered in-depth. Excellent service.

This tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Berlin! Our guide Jim was knowledgeable and informative and provided countless insights into the significant events of the WWII and Cold War eras. It is a lot of walking but so absorbed were we in the commentary that we didn't notice how much ground we'd covered. This is a great tour for history buffs!

Dear susanpva,
Thank you for commenting so kindly on your Third Reich Cold War combo private tour. This is a great deep dive into the tumultous events in Berlin from 1918 to 1989, and with a great guide like Jim you are in for a most memorable tour.
Kind regards,
Gerard

Our guide, Joana, was absolutely terrific. Met us at our hotel on time and led us on a very memorable tour. She really knows the history of the city and the World War II, Cold War eras. Joana made history come alive. My wife and son (32) were with me. Was the highlight of our trip to Berlin.

This was a private tour for me and my husband. Our tour guide was Jonathon N. We didn’t do a World War 2 tour-we did an overview tour (my words, not the tour companies). We found Jonathon to be engaging, very informative, funny, and accommodating. It was money well spent for us. We highly recommend the tour. If you do a private tour, you can select your interests.

Hi, keen to go on this tour but why so expensive?
Written April 4, 2019
Because it was a private one, just myself and my daughters it was worth it

Hi would like to book a tour but need to know if this includes the entrance fee to the different sites or does the pricing only include the guide and pickup/drop off. Can you please confirm
Written March 24, 2019
We just did this tour with Yan. There is no need for entrance fees. All was outside at different sites. We went back the next day and spent 4 hours at the Topgraphy of Terror - which is a free indoor exhibit. The only thing you might want to purchase is the public transit - gets you bus and rail at a very nominal fee. Really great tour and price was worth what we received.

Hi, we are a family of 4 (mom dad& 2 kids). We are interested in private tour. We would like to visit/walk around Berlin Wall and know the history. Can your private tour be customized to do just that?
Written December 28, 2018
We asked that the tour be focused on World War II more than the Cold War. At first we were disappointed that the tour guide wasn’t prepared for that. In the end, we loved the tour. That being said, I’d be very clear up front that you want to focus on the Cold War. If you only want to see the Berlin Wall, I’d pick a different tour.
