- judithvM4970ZA0 contributionsExcellent introduction to Potsdam by Jasmine.Fantastic introduction to Potsdam with our guide Jasmine. She shared so much history and information not just about Potsdam and its palaces but also about Prussia, the German empire, post 1919 and the old war. She is Berlin born and bred. Although only 4 hours we saw and learnt a lot. Next time we will stay in Potsdam as well as Berlin in order to see and enjoy more.Written September 20, 2024
- MeenMenon0 contributionsNo window seat, no value!Over rated restaurant with really poor service and very pedestrian food. It’s clear that food is not a priority, the view is. Unfortunately the tables are in twos so if you are not at the window seat then you might as well sit at a street level cafe. Please insist on a window seat, if you plan to visit the restaurant for a meal. Otherwise save yourself the hassle and just go up the tower to the viewing platform.Written August 31, 2024
- Sachat200 contributionsGreat tourVery informative and enjoyable tour of Potsdam and Sanssousis palace. Yasmeen was a great guide. There was an audio guide inside the palace but our tour guide provided additional information before and after. I was so glad I opted for the tour rather than going to the palace on my own.Written June 21, 2024
- high5ths0 contributionsGreat, easy way to see Potsdam and the Sanssouci palace!Had a great time on this tour, Jasmine was a fantastic and fun tour guide. We had a mix of English and German speakers that day, so she repeated everything in both languages. The bilingual tour was really pleasant and it never felt like she had to skip anything. (I enjoyed continuing to practice my German comprehension.) The tour was exactly as described: a comfortable bus, a nice mix of sitting and walking (really not too much walking by tourism standards). The Sanssouci palace was nice, you basically just walk through the rooms with the audio guide (which you can listen to on your own phone with your own headphones; very comfortable), so you spend about 45 minutes inside the palace. It seemed like the perfect amount of time to see the rooms. For the drive to Potsdam, the walk around the gardens, and the drive back, Jasmine entertained us with a mix of history, cultural context, and general amusement. Some of the reviews here on TripAdvisor clearly are for the wrong tour — there was no lunch break, there were just a couple very short breaks overall. It was well-paced and a great value. We were really happy we chose this tour!Written June 13, 2024
- Hanke580 contributionsDisappointedVery disappointed with the tour, you spend hours in a bus to be there for an hour and half. The day experience Potsdam but you don’t. You see the Palace and the garden. Get there by train on your own and enjoy the whole day. Our day was waisted on this tour. The tour leader new her stuff and I high commend her on the knowledge but that’s it.Written June 13, 2024
- Roam071160830430 contributionsBeautiful and not an all day long tourThe Sanssouci Palace really beautiful, a lot of history, the guide really nice, comfortable bus, the bus was right on time, tour right to the pointWritten January 6, 2024
- BrianC39480 contributionsThe sights of Potsdam. We spent a week in Berlin to see the Berlin marathon and spend the other days sightseeing. On one of those days we travelled out to Potsdam and did the Hop on/Hop off bus tour. We are an older couple so the bus tour was a good way to see Potsdam's sights which are quite spread out. It was superb to be able to hop off at our chosen locations, have a wander round and then get back on the next bus. Potsdam is beautiful and the parks and palaces very scenic. The bus tour was, for us, the perfect way to see a lot of Potsdam.Written September 29, 2023
- gcb670 contributionsExcellent half-day in Potsdam!I was too late to book the walking tour I wanted, but this was an excellent alternative. I only had half a day in Potsdam, and the Hop On Ho Off was exactly what I needed. My priority was the WWII history at Cecelienhoff Palace, so I spent most my time there. But on the bus, I got a full tour of the city with interesting recorded narration. The driver was friendly, and the English -speaking official who sold me the ticket at the first stop gave me helpful tips for what to see after the bus route ended in the early evening. Plenty of seats with great views on the top deck.Written September 14, 2023
- chaaba20010 contributionsTime saving, convenient, cumfortable and instructiveSome comments here are reviewing another tour. It costs €54 and includes the journey to Potsdam from Berlin (Kurfürstendamm) by a Deutsche Bahn bus with a visit of the small Sans Souci Castle (audioguides provided) and a tour of the city (still by bus with very few stops). This is the most convenient way to visit Potsdam as there are no direct public transports from Berlin to the Potsdam Sans Souci Castle. Even thought we stayed mainly inside the bus during the tour of the city, that was also practical occasion to see other sites of Potsdam. The comments in German and in English during the whole trip in the bus were very instructive. The guide did ask us at first if there were English speakers so she would know in which languages she had to speak. I totally recommend this tour.Written July 29, 2023

- Juliet H0 contributionsDisappointingWe were English, with no German. The tour guide spoke entirely in German, with full volume, which drowned out the English language audio tour. We were not instructed on the use of the audio-guide, but eventually figured it out, but could not increase the volume. We visited all we wanted to see, but would have liked more information about it.Written May 10, 2023
- teresa4920160 contributionsNot worth the moneyWe were sold tickets costing nearly 50 euros and told we could have a drink once finished looking around, roughly 45 mins, however after 30 mins of being packed out with too many people, not wearing masks and so hot 🥵 we left! We could not have a drink either as the bars were closed!Written October 18, 2022

- jormaple0 contributionsAn afternoon in Potsdam. UnforgettableWe took the train at Berlin Hauptbanhof. It's a nice trip to Potsdam. Then you take a comfortable bus to (in our case) the Sanssouci Palace. We enjoyed this amazing place with the audio guide. We could visit the splendid gardens as well. After that we walked our way back to the station going through the historic city. This is a highly recommended tour to complement your experience in Berlin!Written October 22, 2019

I took this tour with my husband and two children, aged 6 and 8 on a Saturday. Went to catch the bus that was supposed to have a 16 minute frequency but there had been a problem and the bus took half an hour to arrive. The firs seat we took had terrible audio, glitches, weird sound, bad signal, couldn't hear anything, but changed seats after a couple of stops and it was ok. First part of the trip was ok, nice views up to Alex, there the bus stopped for at least 20 minutes under the blazing sun, after a long time someone came up and explained something in german, waited a bit longer. Finally the tour resumed but it turned out a big part of it had been chopped off because there was some sort of demonstration at Brandenburg Tor, we had to take an alternate route that collapsed with a traffic jam. So it was super slow, nothing much to see, no audio guide of course, kids bored and complaining. It was a pain and after a good 30 minutes of that and having made no more than ten blocks we just got off the bus. I'm not saying it's their fault but I'm sure with some planning they could have come up with some sort of back up solution or compensation. We spent a lot of money for a botched experience.

Horrible. Rude. No info. Very stressful.
The audio guide is a compilation of boring hiatoric facts about street names, statues and fountains. Little to nothing about the wall, culture or anything from this century.
Neithet the driver nor the ticket seller sknow anything about the boat tour we booked, they just point in a vague direction and refuse to give out details they keep saying "just go, just go"
As a result we missed the boat. It only goes from 11-4pm and there are several boats you have to run around and ask to find the right one.
Everyone is very rude, little to no English but they are just as unhappy to talk to customers in German.
Horrible. Not worth the money. Waste of time.
Book your own boat and ride the tram or book with someone else.

Audio not working 90% of the time even changing headphones, places we were sitting or bus. Paid EUR28 for each person to see Berlin and understand nearly nothing because audio not connecting well in 4 different languages that we speak ( English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). Totally disappointed, don't recommend this sightseeing to anyone at all!

The stops for the hop on/hop off are vague (at the Hauptbahnof for example) when a more precise location would be immensely helpful. Then we waited for at least an hour for the first bus to come. Several calls to the office were made by several people waiting and we were told "in about 5 minutes" each time. When the bus came, it was standing room only, which meant there was also no place to plug into the audio tour. Compared to other tours from different companies and in different cities, this audio tour wasn't even that interesting, I'd rate it as OK. However given all of the troubles we had on the tour, I'd advise going with a different company. We did see many red buses come and go while waiting for City Circle.

Myself and my disabled elderly mother were waiting at the Brandenburg Gate to rejoin the bus. At 15.05 on Friday 01 December. There was a red bus in front at the stop and the yellow City Circle bus (number 4) waited in the middle of the road. Then he just drove off without coming closer to the bus stop where we were waiting patiently!!!
He must have seen us. Or is blind. You should ensure all your drivers are competent! There is no way he was thinking it would be ok to walk into the middle lane of a 3 lane road in order to get on the bus!
It's -7 degrees today. My mother is in a wheelchair!

After Corona, this city tour also had difficulties getting back up and running. But it's done. With a few small changes things are really getting going again as tourists are coming to Berlin again. You can decide for yourself whether you want to take it for 2 days or 4 days, or even take the boat trip as well. Prices are rising here too, so you have to pocket more money. The ticket sellers can be recognized with their yellow clothing. Or you can order the ticket online. Berlin is changing everywhere, new houses and buildings are being torn down, new cafés are opening, and some restaurants are closing again. If you walk along the wall where a white high-rise building was built, a new café has opened downstairs, very worth seeing inside, coolly decorated.

From a cost point of view and the fact there where one bus for whole tour in Berlin, we decided on this company,
The bus was clean and the drivers did a great job, but technically side did not work properly. Often it change language during the tours (not only in one bus) and the information was in the lower end, and often not updated. Behind the trees you can see,….there was no trees.

Rude bus driver who set off and immediately engaged in a call on his mobile (WTF? Do this in London as a taxi driver and you lose your licence....) Driver then ignored the bell and made no attempt to stop at our chosen designated stop on the map, nearly missed the next stop and parked the bus in the wrong location so passengers dismounted straight into a cycle lane. Driving was erratic with harsh acceleration and braking. 'Timetable' is also a complete work of fiction

We booked the Hop On Hop Off as a way of getting around Berlin to see the sights. It was a functional tour with the circle taking about an hour or so. They visited most of the areas of interest in Berlin, which was good. The main issue for us was identifying the points of pickup and the times that the buses would take between each circuit. At times, it was only 5 minutes between buses and on others up to 30 minutes. This detracted from an excellent facility as you had no idea when the next bus was going to arrive. The app for the company was difficult to use and didn't give you any real assistance. There was no live tracking of buses, which would have helped. All buses were clean and had free access WiFi, which was great for checking locations, etc, whilst touring. Just with a little bit more investment in tracking and timings this would have gotten a 5 star review.

TERRIBLE! Avoid if you're an English speaker. The boat trip - offered no English commentary and it was dull so don't bother. The lady that served drinks was excessively rude and totally ripped us off. When I contacted them to complain they told me to contact their contracted boat company - which was unhelpful considering I paid them! Then the buses were infrequent and the commentary was out of date. Avoid!

If I buy a 24 hour ticket with a time of 10:00 am, can I start at say, 14:00, and still have 24 hours or would I be required to use it only on that calendar day? Thanks!

I think it is for that day only. Please check with the tour site. I know they stop at 6:00(16:00).

HI booked a 2 day Berlin city hop on/off tour with cruise ....what colour are these buses as I see there are a few hop on/off buses. Just need to be sure we catch the right bus. The video referring to this commences with a building then there is just a quick glimpse of inside of bus with passenger reading a map. This tour departs from Alexanderplatz.
Thanks guys

There are 2 bus companies, both seem to operate the same routes, but have different bus stops, though most are very close. As with the previous answer, both tops usually have people selling tickets who will point you in the right direction, though they tend to disappear late in the day.
