About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- heidip7750 contributionsDo NOT use tours thru Trip AdvisorMy family arrived in Munich on the day of our tour. We showed up at the meeting place and could not find a guide. After waiting 10 minutes past our start time, and asking all around, I found a phone number. The girl who answered told me my tour was cancelled. She said my bank stopped payment bc it was an overseas charge. I was NEVER notified, as this would have been an easy misunderstanding to clear up. She insisted they had sent an email which I went back to look for, and found no evidence of a notification. While I was on the phone she also informed me that our tour for the next day to Dachau was also cancelled. Wow! Great start to our family vacation. After sharing this experience with others I heard multiple stories that were similar, all through Trip Advisor tours. I had other tours planned later in the week with another company and I had no trouble at all getting payment through. Bottom line, this turned out to be a gift. These two tours were expensive, and were able to be easily replicated without this company. We tasted many beers and German foods on our own, asking individuals in the beer halls about their beer processes. The next day we took the bus to Dachau (which you do on the tour anyway) and paid 4 Euros each to join a tour guide right there! Very informative, very inexpensive.Written January 3, 2025
- canderla0 contributionsWhat An Amazing Experience!Paul’s private tour of Munich was nothing short of amazing! Our guide, John, provided the perfect introduction to the city. His passion for Munich, combined with his engaging and lively style, made the entire experience both informative and fun. If you’re looking for a memorable way to explore Munich, I highly recommend booking a tour with John. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of the city and lasting, wonderful memories!Written December 29, 2024
- Scott_TX-CA0 contributionsA surprising treat!I overcame my initial skepticism about paying for a “Traditional Bavarian Coffee and Cake Private tour in Munich.” (I mean, I can find those things quite easily on my own.) But it was absolutely worth it for us. Mainly, because we enjoyed hanging out with (Paul’s colleague) John. Even if we had found these hidden gems on our own, we could have easily gone the whole day without speaking to anyone other than each other. But, as it was, we felt like today was a rich experience, and a warm way to get introduced to the city, and its heart.Written December 18, 2024
- cootch620 contributionsMuch more than touristy broadstrokes.John was our guide and was brilliant. His knowledge of the history and his ability to bring it to life almost made me forget how tired my feet were! We had walked for several hours before meeting with John, and he graciously ensured the pace was perfect. I had done a similar tour a couple of years ago but found this gave me that extra feel for Munich and its history rather than the touristy broadstrokes of last time. John also left us with some great recommendations for dining in Munich.Written December 9, 2024
- gaylel9780 contributionsBeware! I wish I had photos to share but your never happened! We booked this tour under the impression of the title we would see Christmas Markets. Paul reached out to see if he could move us to the afternoon because he was busy. I said no because we had a plane to catch in the evening and didn’t want to push it. Paul nor his tour description disclose that the markets are not open in the morning! Unbeknownst to us, we were heading to meet him and the address given took us somewhere else. I reached out to him to explain and ask where we could meet him 10 minutes later to catch up with the group but he never responded. (Now after reading other reviews, I’m wondering if he even showed up or had a guide that did not show anything representing this tour) We ended up hitting the markets on our own and requested some sort of refund which Paul refused, blaming our driver that took us to the wrong address. When I pointed out that we wanted to meet up wherever they would be in 10 minutes, he ignored that but instead said that we shouldn’t have expected a group of 12 to wait. That was never requested!!! We asked to meet them where they would be. Also we had 4 people in our group so it would’ve been nice for him to reach out to see if we were coming when we didn’t show up but like I said before, he tried to switch our time and now I’m not certain he was even there. I kept giving him chances to offer any kind of refund saying if he made it right I would leave a positive review instead of a poor review. His response to that was that he already reached out to Viator and Trip Advisor to tell them of the situation also advising this was “against the law”. I’m pretty sure when you have a bad experience, you can leave a poor review! That’s what Judge Judy would say! In any case, I hope this helps to prevent someone else from having a poor experience with Paul. Good luck if you choose to ignore the warning!Written December 5, 2024

He is so knowledgeable, which my husband and I appreciated and also has a lovely playful sense of humour which my kids loved. Not your average tour, prepare to hear many different stories and parallels. Thank you Paul ♥️Written October 24, 2024
- Pamht10 contributionsWonderful Tour!Martin gave us a fantastic tour of Munich! We walked through old town and he showed us the best sites, shops and restaurants (including the Ratskeller and Hofbrahaus). He gave us many souvenir coasters, jokes and Paul’s lovely book about Munich. It was my first time to Europe and Germany, and an excellent introduction to this beautiful city.🇩🇪Written October 22, 2024

- Amy N0 contributionsPoor communication in meeting tour guide. We were expecting a tour with Paul, we were met by a woman(we didn’t meet up with her easily because we were looking for a man). There was NO communication from either Viator or Paul’s Tours to let us know who would be our guide. That was very misleading and frustrating. The tour was advertised as 3 hours, but only lasted a little over 2 hours. The tour guide was knowledgeable and pleasant once we got going. The tour, while enjoyable, was not worth the money that we spent on it.Written October 9, 2024
- bikeller20130 contributionsFantastic Munich walking tourWe had a wonderful walking tour of the Munich Altstadt with Johannes (John) from Paul's Private Tours. He met us at our hotel and took us to all of the major sites and churches. We'd been to Munich before so he was worried he wouldn't tell us anything new, but he had nothing to worry about. We learned so much from him not only about the buildings but the history too. He was sure to get us to a perfect spot in front of the Rathaus on the Marienplatz in time for the noon glockenspiel show!Written September 27, 2024
- Jemgonza0 contributionsGreat walking tour! This was a private tour for my husband and I. We had the best time. Our tour guide was Martin. He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. - 667natr0 contributionsMunich Above and BeyondMartin went above and beyond the obvious attractions and gave us a look inside the real Munich. Things you would never see or experience on your own. Because of Martin, we will be back in Munich--and touring yet again with him.Written September 24, 2024
