Great Short Early History of the 3rd Reich
Michael (our guide) was extremely good. Very knowledgeable and imparted what he knew in an interesting manner. Great at making sure none of our large group got left behind. Sensitive to all while dealing with a difficult subject.

    Wonderful Experience!
We had a wonderful time with Taff. It turned into a bit of a private tour which made it great! We enjoyed hearing the true darker side of history in the region which is not widely disclosed in the more mainstream tours. Being able to handle actual relics from the older times was a great plus!

    Taff is a Medieval Master!
As Taff will tell you himself, he is not a tour guide. He’s an archeologist who happens to give tours. We took a private medieval history tour. We had 2 teens and a 10 yr old and he threw in just enough “macabre” to make everyone happy. Taff is extreme knowledge, attentive and full of amazing facts. Coordination was easy and communication was great.

    Great tour!
We really enjoyed the tour. The things learned in this tour were very interesting as it’s not what you’d see or hear everywhere in Munich. It was quite enlightening. Taff is a genuinely good natured and fun person while also being a great storyteller. Whenever we have a beer in Germany we shall remember him fondly! Cheers mate.

    Great experience!
The tour with Taff was great fun! We learned so much about Munich's dark side, and laughed a lot along the way! Being an archeologist, Taff had a lot of historical artifacts to show us, and great knowledge of German history. He is definitely the most knowledgeable tour guide I've ever had. Highly recommend you take a tour with him!

Taff is your guide for a great tour!
Fun and interactive tour highlighting the start of Munich and the dark history the city was built on. Guide was great story teller and a good listener of what we were interested in. Highly recommend Taft as the guide.

Medieval beer tasting, swords, and a trip to Munich’s wonderful, but sometimes dark, past. What’s not to love!
It was a fun and very thorough tour outlining the rich history of the city. Taff was an excellent tour guide and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Munich!

Excellent, highly recommended. Taff, your guide, is knowledgeable, interesting and funny. A very interesting way to view munich, the only disappointment was that the tour had to end.

Fun and informative city tour where we learned a lot of new things!
We wanted to give our American friends, who already know Munich well, an entertaining city tour. Our expectations were exceeded by far. In a historical costume and with original old utensils, Taff taught us many interesting historical things about Munich. Although we have lived in Munich for several years, we learned a lot of new things and laughed a lot. I can only highly recommend this tour.

An absolute MUST if you like dark history!
We really had a lovely evening with such charismatic guide, unique beer tasting, entertaining and informative stories, a lot of laughs too and the last story really was worthy of the title "Makaber". We highly recommend this for people who have a love for dark history!

    Entertaining and Educational
Taff led an incredible tour filled with entertaining and educational narratives. He has extensive knowledge of Munich's history and local archaeological finds as well as an admirable passion for fact and research. I would definitely recommend this tour for families and groups looking for a medieval tour that leads you through the heart of Munich's city center.

    A great tour
I went on this tour with my wife in February 2019 and we had a great time. Taff is a lot of fun but also really knows his stuff. He also went out of his way to give us tips for the rest of our stay in the city. Highly recommend this tour.

We booked this tour as part of a family trip in Munich to learn more about the history of the city. Taff was extremely flexible around our needs, meeting us just outside our hotel. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the city, especially in the WWII era, and made complex topics easy to understand. he also brought along lots of items and photos/maps, making the history very easy to visualize. Taff was clearly passionate about the history, and such a friendly person and pleasure to tour with. He took us to many parts of the city that we would have never thought to explore on our own. We would highly recommend this tour to others, and Taff was a great person to lead us around the city!

While it’s possible to get this type of tour with a large group for a lower price, we found this private tour to be perfect given our interest in Nazi and WWII history. Joanne was simply amazing. She delivered great expertise and insight as we walked through Munich and discussed many of the iconic events that framed such an important part of world history. Since these type of places and events are understandingly unlabeled and unmarked, having someone like Joanne point them out is a must to truly understand the things that happened and why. Joanne also appropriately used her awesome English humor along the way, an added bonus! If you are an avid WWII history buff or you just want to learn more about that era in a fun and private way, give these folks a try and ask specifically for Joanne. You won’t be disappointed!

If you are thinking of booking this tour, stop thinking and book it.

Taff, our guide, was friendly, personable and knowledgable. He was able to adapt the pace, depth and direction of the tour to suit us without actually being asked or directed.

The tour, whilst fascinating in itself, was enhanced by a number of amazing props that Taff carried around with him.

And the only people asking annoying questions were us!

Highly recommended.

Taff is without a doubt the best tour guide I've ever had. We took this tour while in town for the Bucs/Seahawks game middle of November. His knowledge is unsurpassed and he goes beyond the extra mile to bring the history of Munich to life. He's got two satchels of photo albums and artifacts that complement each stop along the tour. The man carries around a 5lb piece of shrapnel all day just to provide context at one stop. Unbelievable dedication to his profession. Great communication and tailor made tour for my friend and I. We couldn't have been more pleased to have booked with Taff. Enjoyed a few beers along the way and really got a great sense for Munich. Prost to a great guy!!

Thank you for kind words; glad that you enjoyed the shrapnel and the beers! :-) I know that a lot of other tour guides in Munich think that I go OTT with the artefacts; however, I know from working as an archaeologist, that having something in the hand, something that can be tied to a certain time and certain place, can really inform on the past. History is important - we can learn from past mistakes - but not if the past is presented in way which does not engage the mind; reading your review, I take it that I achieved this. Many thanks, and I will see you next time I hope. Best, Taff Simon

We have learned that sometimes we miss out on information when do self guided or audio tours. You’ll probably never go to these places again. So make it worth it!!
Taff corresponded with us for a few months before our arrival and tailored the trip to our needs.
Once we got to Munich, he met us at our hotel. He had pictures and actual objects to enhance our experience.
We walked around town and then trained to Dachau. His knowledge and passion impressed!
You won’t regret it.

Our trip to Germany was a High school graduation trip for my son that’s always been interested in WWII history. We booked this tour and I’m so happy we did. Taff was very knowledgeable as he explained historical moments and brought them to life through engaging storytelling! He brought artifacts from the war and photos of places we toured so that we could really see the then and now. We had walked by several of these places the day before without realizing the relevance. If you really want to see Munich from the perspective of where and when key WWII events occurred, book this tour!

The perfect way to start our trip. This is so much better than a large group tour. He was able to customize this experience for us. He even had pictures, props and memorabilia to really make everything come to life. Taff not only knows a lot about history, WWII and politics but has a very comical way of portraying everything. We are looking forward to more private tours with him again!

Excellent. Taff has a thorough grasp of the facts coupled with a gift for engaging narrative for all ages and varied knowledge bases. A potentially controversial topic covered with sensitivity. An active listener not just recounting a script. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend. Good comms before.

As the grand-daughter of a WW2 Veteran who fought 4 years in Europe with the 45th Infantry out of Oklahoma, we booked this tour hoping to learn a bit more about what my grandfather witnessed during his time in the Munich area during 1945. What we didn't expect was a tour guide who carried a 45th Infantry badge with him, a tour guide who would show us places my grandfather had been, the events he would have witnessed. A tour guide with a wide range of knowledge, pictures, artifacts, and a passion to educate and share the events of WW2. Taff made the tour enjoyable for everyone in our group, ages 12-70. He tailored our tour to make sure he shared everything he new about my grandfather's infantry. We did not expect the tour to be so personal, it was a very special day my family will not forget. He also has extensive knowledge of other events around Munich including Dachau Concentration camp. We will definitely schedule another tour with him the next time we visit Germany.

This tour gave us a unique look into Munich’s dark past. Our guide, Taff, was absolutely amazing! He is so passionate about history, so knowledgeable and personable, and made our tour truly engaging. We loved his approach with supporting documents, props, and artifacts that tied everything together so well. I feel like we gained some insider knowledge on this tour and would definitely recommend. Especially with Taff as your guide!
