- Todd P00Romantic road tour is Awesome!!Really enjoyed the driver Mío and the guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Harburg castle with a local guide was very informative and fun, not Neuschwanstein but nice to see different style. Rothenburg is really worth it- 3 hours of your own time ( it goes fast so have a plan)- the city, St James church and the Christmas museum had us right at the last minute. Main complaint is fellow American travelers that are so embarrassing- read the details/ everything you complain about was in the description… duh!?!? Yes, cash means Euros not dollars- are you really that unaware…? Anyway , great tour!!
- 548c_ssiab00Amazing day trip to castle and palace with guide Deyse. We had a great visit to the Linderhof palace and the Neuschwanstein castle with the guide Deyse. She gave us explanations throughout the trip, good tips for Munich by the end of the day. She was always willing to help and to say the spots we couldn't miss in order to have the best pics. Totally recommend.
- toddpC6258NT00Excellent tourTour was good and Melanie was an excellent guide. If you have the time this is a great trip to take
- W8127YImarkh00Must do tripMelanie was a great guide and the trip was great. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Munich with a day to spare.
- DayTrip6186647599700Castles TourWe had a great time touring Linderhof and Neuschwanstein castles. The bus was very luxurious. Drinks and snacks were offered constantly. The tour guide, Steveo, was knowledgeable and very friendly. Overall, it was a great tour.
- 436tarynw00Definitely GO!Absolutely incredible— a MUST see! Tour bus was very comfortable and everything ran exactly on schedule. I would do it again in a heartbeat— the castle views are like a fairytale! I took off 1 star because our tour guide literally NEVER stopped talking for hours on end. We were all so exhausted at the end of the day and nobody could sleep on the way home because he wouldn’t stop talking. He was very kind and very helpful, but I could tell the entire bus felt the same way.
- Supabolivia00A wonderful relaxing dayWe had a fantastic day with Monika. Everything felt so calm and at ease. I've been on other big bus tours that felt like we were always in a rush, but this felt really relaxed and we packed so much into the day. Monika is so knowledgeable! We learnt so much and saw so much beautiful countryside. Everything was timed perfectly, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.
- U1954WQgarys00Amazing Tour with amazing views, unforgettable.Monika was our guide, she was Brilliant. She gave us great insights throughout our journey to each destination. She was very thorough and explained the tour very well. The countryside views were breathtaking and the castles equally so. This was a bucket list ticket off for me and it exceeded my expectations, this was a memory I'll cherish forever with my wife.
- Zestieb00Must DoBus was clean and comfortable. Phillips our guide was excellent and made sure we all understood what was happening each step of the way. Views were amazing. One criticism is that not enough time was allocated to return to the bus after the conclusion of the tour ( you’re on your own at that point). Prepare for a LOT of walking and stairs. Recommended.
- edmI5102FX00BUY YOUR TICKET!This tour was absolutely worth it in every sense! The bus was easy to find, the boarding was so quick, and it was an incredibly comfortable ride! The availability of snacks and drinks was also a major plus. Monika, our guide was such a pleasure to listen to and learn from. I came into this trip with no real background information on what we were seeing but because of her I feel like I learned so much and really got as much as I could out of each stop. Finally, as a solo traveler, I was slightly nervous but between the comfort of the trip, the guide, and the amazing people I met on the bus, I just had the BEST day!
- Guide70890600Guide Malvina was excellent!Re: GUIDE REVIEW: MALVINA Neuschwanstein tour with Oberbayrn 23 Sept2023: Guide Malvina was excellent in ALL the aspects of guiding: knowledge of history, repeating important procedures, anticipating questions that clients might have, patience with difficult and nagging travellers, clear& well spoken English, etc. I wish more guides be like Malvina. Thank you, Regards, Wyn
- 500arlenem00A trip back in timeBeautiful bus ride to the countryside to visit Rothenburg, a city captured in its medieval past. Loaded with tourists on a bright, sunny Sunday. Despite the crowds, worth a visit for its array of cafes, shops, photo taking and the wonderful Christmas museum with an incredible store. My one complaint is that the tour guide was not equipped with handheld hearing devices that we really needed to hear her instructions and descriptions. With a low voice, she needed better training in presenting on a bus tour, especially for older hearing-challenged passengers. But overall it was a lovely experience.
- proudpoly00Too much to see in too little time - rent a car and day trip insteadWe went on this tour with Greyline and I’ll try to separate the trip from the tour guide as I realize there may be some cultural bias there. Both Salzburg and the Lake District were beautiful but Salzburg is a 1/2 to full day trip by itself if you want to actually see/do anything. We had about two hours to explore on our own bc the first stop was at the WC (despite having one on the bus and it only being a two hour drive) and that took forever. My recommendation if you use this vendor, is to get the time you need to be back on the bus and book it out of there. Map the one or two things you want to see and abandon your group - our guide didn’t tell us anything useful outside of the word “salary” comes from the Latin word for salt because that’s how people used to pay - Salzburg, therefore, was a rich city. The Lake District was also beautiful - the 1000 year old cathedral is a must see and the recorded tour on the boat was interesting and informative. It was the most guided narrative we had on the whole trip. We had 30 or so minutes to explore on land and then the boat before being rushed back onto the bus. Here’s what I wish I had know going in: *the pick up point is vague - ie G or H, there will be a lot of tour busses and yours may or may not have a sign. You’ll have to ask the drivers and you may have to cross the underground tunnel to get to the correct side. *eat before or bring something with you, the restaurants in the area are not open that early *rain does not cancel your trip, you won’t know if the trip is cancelled for inclement weather - you just show up and hope for the best bc the greyline vendor will not respond to your inquiry. *preplan your time, figure it out before you get there and map it in your phone. *if you’re in love, consider bringing a lock for the bridge of love *bring 15 euro for the boat ride - you cannot pay with a card (no matter what the website says) and if you don’t pay you are going to be stuck on the bus for an hour or so…you don’t get to explore the town, you hang out with Dragon. *SKIP THE TOUR, RENT A CAR, AND SPEND THE TIME THAT SALZBURG DESERVES. Now the guide, and note I did say I may be biased, was terrible. I’m American, if that helps. Arnoud (?) wasn’t friendly and not very informative. He complained about the traffic, and the construction, and the Sound of Music “freaks,” but gave very little useful information. Every stop was rushed. He literally almost got into a fight with another tour guide on the bridge. He was pretty unkind to the two ladies (who I don’t think had German or English as a first language) who didn’t have enough euros for the boat and didn’t understand that they would have to stay on the bus while everyone else explored the town and went on the boat. If I had to guess, arnoud was either having a very bad day or he truly hates his job. Perhaps he lost the round of rock, paper, scissors to see who led the English tour that day but sheeeeeesh, not our favorite.
- Jesse B00Great (but time constrained) TourWe had a great time on our full day tour. Monika had lots of great facts and pointed us in the right directions. Time is limited on most stops to just enough time to get around the area, but this is needed to fit everything into the day. We would select this tour again!
- Mobile11488400Wonderful dayIt was an amazing day in Bavaria with Sven and our Bus driver. We were lucky with traffic and weather and had much fun on the bus. Thank you so much!

The tourist although curt and polite seemed very annoyed when I asked a question about the website info that said cash only when it turned out to be card only. I knew it wasn’t his fault but he just seemed annoyed that I asked. Tell people before they board the bus to avoid the confusion. I was disappointed that there was hardly any historical facts given while on the tour and the small information he did give out was spoken so softly I didn’t catch most of it. I felt that I was not given a “tour” but paid for an expensive bus ride and entrance fee with someone telling me what direction to go and when to meet back on the bus. Not good at all, I wished I had paid for a better tour.

Without any doubt, a private guide would be better in your case. A big tour affords, that the guide work for everyone, and sincerely not everyone want to be teached about history 10 hours. Some people just want to see the landscape, other want special information, and others just want to spend a vacation day without disturbances (like guides talking all time).
If you had contact me before, I would give you a better consultance. But you decided to do by yourself. Next time write to guide@sightseeing-munich.com

Elizabeth was an excellent guide with equally excellent English! We learned a lot on this tour from the minute we started our drive out of the city which was appreciated, understanding some of the historical context of the buildings, streets, and districts. The tour was informative, and her instructions were very clear regarding meeting points and times.
One point - there were no wifi or charging capabilities on this bus compared to other tours I have taken in the past, so please plan accordingly since it makes for a very long day!

This was a very educational/informative tour. The tour guide Elisabeth was very prepared and able to provide information on way to destination, while at destination and on way back. Was able to answer any questions that any of the tourists had. With the documentation center being renovated we were able to go for a walk down to the ruins of the Berghof. Would recommend that anyone who has an interest in world war 2 take this tour.

Excellent trip! Myself, my mum and two daughters (50, 72, 20, 15) booked a trip to Munich for this tour. It's something my mum has always wanted to see all her life since my grandfather fought in WW2 and received the Burma Star, her interest in WW2, Third Reich especially was cemented. We went with Gray Line Tours from Munich. Our guide was Caroline (short black hair, pink lippy, large sunglasses) and she was a lovely lady, gave us lots of information and facts about Munich, Berchtesgaden, Obersalzburg and most importantly WW2 history of Hitler's mountain residence The Kehlsteinhaus Eagle's Nest. She held our full attention for the 2 hour scenic journey to Berchtesgaden. We arrived and had time for refreshments in the nearby restaurant overlooking the mountain peaks. Then Caroline met us for our shuttle bus to take us up the Obersalzburg. It was extremely high! Then from the parking area halfway up Caroline took us in the brass elevator to The Eagle's Nest. My mum was very tearful and said she felt like she'd walked straight into a history book ! The panoramic views were just amazing! We were so lucky with the weather, beautiful crystal clear, sunny day, we could see forever. We took lots of photos to remember the day always. The snacks, drinks and souvenirs to our surprise weren't overpriced. We were able to get a seat outside on the verandahs with a priceless view. After Caroline took us back down, our group were able to browse through the souvenir shops and have a bite to eat with a view again. Then back on the comfy bus for a ride through Berchtesgaden Town, adorable, then off back to Munich with Caroline giving us lots more info about Bavaria. All in all we would do this again in a heartbeat! Excellent tour, brilliant guide, value for money, simply fantastic day, especially for my little mum. I'm so pleased I was able to make this happen for her, she was so happy. Thank you!

Great tour! Long bus ride (2 1/2 hrs), but definitely worth the wait. You go on this tour for the views and the Nazi history, not so much the eagles nest building as it is basically just a restaurant, with a small hallway museum. And I would recommend if the documentation museum is not open, to walk with Elisabeth to Hitler’s home, the trek is steep but worth it! The tour guide Elisabeth is amazing!! Definitely ask for her! Gives so much facts and information the whole ride to Berchtesgaden and the way down!

Our tour guide was Elizabeth, and our driver was Carson. They were both excellent. When we booked the tour, we expected mainly transportation and tickets as appropriate, but little else. We were really surprised and very pleased to find out that this was a fully guided tour. Elizabeth was extremely knowledgeable about the history, and provided great historical content throughout the tour. She was also fantastic with communication about where and when to meet her to do additional guided activities throughout the afternoon, and there were plenty of guided versus self-guided options. Carson did a great job of efficiently getting us to and from the locations, and the bus was very comfortable, and featured drinks and a full lavatory. Would definitely recommend!

The night before our Eagle’s Nest tour, lightning struck their elevator, so it was closed. Now that is obviously not Gray Line’s fault, BUT, we were not given the opportunity to choose whether or not to continue with their impromptu backup plan (in which we had zero interest). They made the reservation call to the Eagle’s Nest after we’d already embarked, and so we were basically trapped on the bus. Also, our guide didn’t do a head count or announcement before our (replacement) salt mine tour, and despite waiting right outside the entrance, our tour left without us.
After this catastrophe of a day, the company’s customer service was absolutely abysmal. The rep was rude, and we had to press them very hard for even a small partial refund.
If you can use a different tour company, do.

After having refunds 2 times and hot willing to understand, that we cannot call in advance without knowing how many go inside, and not willing to understand, that lightnings are not under our control I can just say: If you can read other reviews from a person who has a better understanding and definetely is not trying to go for free.

I had family visit this week and we decided to have a day long trip out of the city (luckily on the hottest day!) and settled on this tour.
Willhelm was our tour guide for our journey and I believe he did a great job! He was very informative and gave us a good laugh, everybody in our group very much liked him.
The bus journey was air conditioned and had working toilets, bar a group very quick on the draw to drop their seats on-top of us, the trip was very comfortable.
They gave us about an hour and a half at two locations, the first a stop before Eagle's nest, a place to have food and buy some souvenirs and the same amount of time at Eagle's nest. I originally thought it wouldn't be enough time to explore and appreciate the scenery, but it was more than plenty!
They did collect money for the tickets for the eagles nest on the bus journey, something we did expect, however they only accepted card despite on the tour page saying they only accepted cash, and there wasn't any ticket given afterward, which wasn't an issue at the venue but still a little odd overall.

Since corona we give the customer the credit card option, for your own safety. Since we have group-tickets we can't give eacha ticket, because in this case we would not have a group ticket but an individual ticket. We also never announced individual tickets. Why do more trash for our environment?

Overall a very good trip. Bus was comfortable (once air con took effect), and guide (Arnaud) was instantly likeable and imformatative. There is great opportunity for amazing views and with being a bit careful with footing there is a short walk and climb available at top. The visit leaves some interesting food for thought - I am still going over in my head that I was in same lift Hitler and so much evil.
It does get an expensive day as entry not included (33 EUR per adult) and you might want to consider taking own food. WARNING - The restaurants do not take cards - cash only.

The tour was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. If you want to learn history this is the perfect tour.
The reason for only three stars is the fact that the tour really costs $100E and not the advertised $67E. Once you are on the bus, the guide asks for your credit card so you can pay the additional $33E admission fee. Why not just advertise the trip as $100E and charge it up front. The tour is worth $100E so why not just be honest!

The tour includes entry but does not include the fee for the special bus. You have to pay for the special bus there is no way round this, but because the price is subject to change it is not included in the price of the tour

It depends on how much you want to explore when you get to Obersalzberg. You are going to be on a bus for 1/2 the day. Back and forth from Munich, then up and down to Kehlsteinhaus. When you're up at Kehlsteinhaus, there is a lot of exploring you can do further up the mountain peak, down below you can walk to the Document Center, into the Bunkers, over to the remains of the Berghof, etc. So, if your little one is up for exploring that day - you'll definitely get more out of it. I don't recall seeing anyone with strollers - the fold-up umbrella style would be your best bet.
