      Fantastic Tour and Information
For a transplanted American, Jake has a very deep knowledge and history of the area. We booked an all day walking tour with Jake and it could not have gone better. Due to Jake's knowledge, the tour can be customizable on-the-fly. Right off the bat we made introductions and had a brief conversation about what we liked, didn't like and things we thought we would want to see. We ended up starting at St. Jakob because it was close to the apartment and then worked our way all through Partenkirchen and Garmisch. Jake was willing to stop anywhere, answer any questions, and was extremely personable with the four of us. He enquired about where to have lunch and was also willing to stop and get a coffee when we wanted it. Being a very small group, and a walking tour, he was able to take us into some very hidden little nooks and crannies of the city as we walked around. We enjoyed churches, a gasthaus for lunch (and the story of how the city came to be), ideas for shopping the next day, as well as a couple of really great recommendations for dinner and breakfast the next day. We certainly enjoyed the trip, learned a lot of history, and I even came away with a few books to hunt up and read based on our conversation throughout the day.

      FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE
If you are on the fence about booking this tour, do not hesitate!! Book it! We were picked up in a beautiful Mercedes van! Our tour guide, David, was knowledgable about the area, full of fun facts and lots of fun to chat with. I feel like I made a new friend! We were treated like VIP’s! The areas we visited are breathtaking! Don’t miss the Alpine Coaster! It’s not for the faint of heart, but an absolute blast! Our experiences today checked all of my boxes for the entire trip! Thank you, David!

Weather raining and miserable, but the tour made the day enjoyable.
Jake was very knowledgeable of the area and interesting. We enjoyed the experiences we had with him as he had cordial relationships with all the vendors we visited. He also was very accommodating.

      Wonderful Carriage Tour of Garmisch
We had a wonderful time on our carriage tour of Garmisch! Jake told us many stories of the rich history of the area on the way to meet the carriage and was great with our young kids. This was a great way to take in all of the sights and my whole family loved it. I would absolutely book another tour with Jake and All Things Garmisch!

Enchanting and Exciting. Krampus and Christmas Markets
I’d love to convey how absolutely amazing the Krampus tour is, but this tour is something one must experience first hand. There is no way to describe the feeling you get when you hear the bells clank knowing Krampus is near. I can’t adequately describe the bit of fear followed by the rush you get when Krampus comes near you, looks at you and maybe smacks you with a branch. It is exciting and invigorating! You walk away feeling like the travelers you just met are your teammates and partners in battle regaling tales of narrowly escaping Krampus, or of being scared to get flogged as Krampus approaches but instead being marked with coal on the face. As a solo female traveler in her 40s, I can attest to the excellent tour content, the safety, the positive group dynamic, and the sound logistics and communication of Jake, Drew and All Things Garmisch. I saw Jake and Drew oversee care for a fellow traveler who needed an emergency room and then a specialist appointment. They handled the situation appropriately and without incident. As a former clinical liaison, I was glad to see it. Our group was the Krampus Tour and we mingled with the Christmas Market tour also. The ages of people on our Krampus Tour spanned 30s to 70s, and it seemed most of us were 40s and 50s, and I’d say there’s something for everyone. Some people kept to their family or group while many of us became friends and spent time eating street food, shopping together and occasionally shutting down bars. This trip is perfect for most people whether seasoned travelers, solo travelers, female travelers, and couples or friend groups old and young. I would advise you to have adequate mobility as there are stairs to climb and hills to walk. This is not appropriate for the mobility impaired, but that is the only restriction I’d advise.

      Jake & company are great
Jake and his wonderful team, Monya, Drew were tons of fun, very well organized, and very adaptable. They were sure to budget for unexpected delays, like a few stragglers getting out of bed a few mins late, or traffic delays, etc. He would pick up on our individual interests and think hard about how to cater to them to make our trip really special and meaningful. Jake was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer just about any question we could think of, as well as provide interesting historical and cultural insights.

      An Amazing Trip!
5 Stars, 10 out of 10, 100%!!! Whatever metric you use, this trip gets the highest score. I went on the Oktoberfest trip with a group of 11 others and we all agreed that it was one of the best trips of our lives! The airport pickups were thoughtful and staying in Garmisch was an excellent idea. Jake planned several activities for our group and they were all really fun. Highlights include - 3 days at Oktoberfest with table reservations (spread out over the 10 days), two castle tours, hot air balloon ride, cable car rides up the German alps, visits to breweries, a really fun apple strudel class followed by a 6 course dinner with beer pairing, and a Mozart concert in Salzburg in a building constructed in the 600s. The accommodations were perfect, and once we landed we didn't have to worry about a thing. If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy Oktoberfest without the hassle of planning a trip thru a foreign country, this is it. It was absolutely worth it. Prost!

      Best day at Neuschwanstein castle
Jake was an incredible guide. Him being an obvious history buff my wife and I learned so much about Austrian and Bavaria royal families and the decisions they made to hold their countries together. Jake also provided deeper insights into what King Ludwig was like and what helped to shape the decisions he made. I could not imagine going to Neuschwanstein Castle without a guide like Jake and so glad we made the investment.

      Ultimate Bavarian Experience
My husband and I booked a 10 day "Bavarian Beer Vacation" trip with Jake. Included were tours of Garmish-Partenkirchen, Neuschwanstein, breweries, Zugspitze, Herrenchimsee Palace, Oberammagau, Munich, Saltzburg, and Sound of Music. In addition, we took a hot air balloon ride, took an apple strudel making class, went to a Mozart Concert, and attended Oktoberfest twice with table reservations in the tents. Jake is incredibly knowledgeable and his love for the content he shares is evident in his storytelling. My husband and I were put with a small group of 11 other people making the tour feel friendly and intimate. On our trip we ate delicious Bavarian food, drank many beers, learned a ton of history, and marveled in the beauty of Germany and Austria. We had THE best time and were sad to be leaving at the end of our trip.

In planning our trip to Germany, we had to make the tough decision between taking this day trip, or visiting the well-known (and relatively nearby) Neuschwanstein Castle. At the end of the day, we leaned towards this as it seemed like such a unique experience. Boy, we were not wrong... this was one of THE best days imaginable.

When the big day arrived, we took the family (including kids aged 9 and 6) on the early train from Munich, and Jake met us at the train station in GPK. We were immediately struck by Jake's casual and friendly manner... he's a cool guy. Originally from the US, he married locally and has now lived in or around the GPK area for many years.

Jake drove us to the Seilbahn (the brand new cable car) station, next to the Eibsee... which we were to take to the top of the Zugspitze - Germany's tallest mountain. Jake organised the tickets and helped navigate us through the crush (quite literally) of avid skiers, all trying to get to the top. (On our day, we were blessed with beautiful, clear blue skies... the downside being that every man and his dog was trying to get on top of the mountain). Once through the crowded turnstile area though, the trip up the mountain was nothing short of superb.

Jake showed us around up top, and then took us down the smaller cable car to the Sonn Alpin ski area, in the bowl behind the mountain. All of it was so scenically beautiful, it has to be seen to be believed. Once down in Sonn Alpin, Jake took us into the carved ice hotel and helped us arrange for sled hire, so we could take the kids sliding down the slopes. We then ordered lunch at Germany's highest biergarten... which I gleefully washed down with a delicious Bavarian brew.

We then headed back down the mountain and into the town(s) of GPK, which are (particularly Partenkirchen) the image of the idyllic Bavarian town. Many interesting things to see, including the 1936 Olympics ski jump. Jake's knowledge of the area, and the way in which he imparts that, is second to none. We loved his company, and at the end of our tour he even took us back to the train station and to the correct platform.

    Sensational. Strongly recommended. Thanks Jake.

We did two full day tours with Jake - Zugspitze and Ludwig II castles. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed Jake's extensive knowledge of the area and history! We appreciated his insider knowledge that made the trip run smoothly and avoid the crowds as much as possible. As a bonus, all of Jake's dinner recommendations in Garmisch were spot on. Jake is a wonderful guide!

Jim was fantastic, you couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. He has an incredible knowledge of the area's history and general knowledge. He was very accommodating and if we had any things that we particularly wanted to see he insured that we saw or did them. He made suggestions of beautiful photos to take and fun photos to do. From the time that the tour company contacted us they were helpful and kept in contact with us, using whatsapp or email for contact with us. We highly recommend this tour to anyone. An excellent tour.

We took this tour on the first day of our trip, and I was not yet comfortable with the trains, so I was very happy to have Jake pick us up at our hotel. The drive out was full of information on Germany, Bavaria, and Munich, plus we got to see some things that wouldn't have been possible if we had taken the train. Some special event was going on at the German side of the mountain and the parking lots were already full. This didn't even phase Jake, he adjusted on the fly and we went around to the Austrian side instead. We got to the same place, just on a different cable car, and Jake was amazing at sharing with us not only everything about the mountain and surrounding area, but also his tips and tricks at getting through the crowds and seeing/doing what we wanted with minimal wait. Later, we had lunch (at our own expense but very reasonable) at one of his favorite spots and he made sure the vegans in our group were taken care of as well as the rest of us. After a nice tour of the town (be careful of the chocolate shop - I spent way too much), we were running late for the intended train back to Munich, so gave us a choice of taking a different train that we could still make, or visiting a local brewery and catching a later train. He took us to a small brewery/restaurant near a different train station and we had beer, wine, pretzels and misc snacks (at our own expense but very reasonable) until train time. His wife and daughters even stopped by to say Hi before we walked 5 minutes to the train station where we caught a direct train back to Munich (included in the tour price). Before I booked this trip, I balked at the cost (I was paying for a family of 5), but it was definitely worth it for such a great day and fantastic tour guide. If I ever visit Bavaria again, I will look up Jake before I plan any other activities, as he and his company do lots more than just Zugspitze.

Oh yeah, the mountain was a great experience. We are from Colorado and have lots of Rocky Mountain experience, but Zugspitze was a completely different experience and I would go back again. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an amazing little town and very much worth a visit if you have a guide, but I wouldn't bother trying to see it on your own.
