Start of the tour is in Freilassing on the forecourt of Rupertuskirche. After a short distance we cross the border to Austria and come directly to Salzburg. Through the districts Liefering and Neu-Maxglan we drive to Mönchsberg. To reach the first vantage point, it is a short way uphill. After the Müllner church our efforts are rewarded with a wonderful view of the Salzach. Over the Salzach spans the Müllner jetty, in the further view the St. Andrä church and the Nockstein are to be seen.

It goes up a short distance to the Schartentor. After its passage, we pass the Hasenbergbastei, at the foot of which we pass the northern flank of the fortress.
