Whenever I take hop on hop off tours, my main intent is to use them as a method to get from point A to point B without getting lost (my usual method) and seeing more of the city than if I was walking; that being said, I don't worry too much about the commentary available. I like to walk, but Seoul is a car friendly city, and I don't think I could have walked to all of the sights I wanted to in one day, and it was cheaper than multiple taxis. There are three routes available, and I did buy the two day ticket that allowed me to take more than one route. I was mostly interested in the Palace route, which includes the three palaces, the War Memorial of Korea, Hanok Village and N Seoul Tower.

Logistically, the ticket process can be confusing or at least not as easy as you would think. You can pre-purchase the ticket online, but you have to take that voucher to the kiosk and turn it in for a ticket, which means you cannot just hop on the bus if there is a stop near your hotel. A couple of times the drivers looked at my ticket and looked confused, but still let me on, but I didn't understand why they were confused, it couldn't have been the first time they saw that type of ticket, could it? I didn't have any of the issues that some other reviewers had, but I can understand some of the frustration.

So, I would recommend using the bus as a way to see a large city and a lot of its sights without trying to navigate on your own.

Took the Downtown Palace tours as recommended by reviews. Value for money. Area covered not as extensive. Commentary could be better.
Its an ok trip for those new to Seoul with not much time to spare and would like to get a quick overview of what Seoul is about and what it has to offer.

It’s a good way to get around the city and get a sense of direction and a bit of history. It’s cooler in the open back. Brief bits of history and short descriptions. Wasn’t crazy about the tour, but did find it a helpful way to get around to the top sites and it was pretty inexpensive.

We got the ticket at 11:59 am 27/12/19 and get a short ride. When we wanted to use again on 30/12/19 at 10:00 am for another short one, in fact less than 30 min. the driver let not us get into the bus showing us the date very angry.
A very dissapointing information and bad education.

On a very hot day in Seoul, I though this would be a good way to get oriented in air-conditioned comfort. Well.... it was air conditioned. The driver did so many abrupt accelerations, decelerations, and lane changes I could hardly see anything much less take any photos. I was especially upset by the crazy speed with which he climbed up and then down the mountain topped by No Seoul Tower. And then there was the 15-min delay while he and a driver who darted in front of him (and probably bumped each other) yelled at each other. He didn't stop at scheduled stops so it was hard to figure out where we were (and the ride was far too rough to consult a map). I had planned to get off the bus to visit a few of the places at stops along the way but was afraid if I did I wouldn't be picked up later on (and he didn't stop unless you asked him to which wasn't an option in my case because I don't speak Korean). Then, he abruptly parked the bus and walked away when he finished the route instead on continuing on as most do. The only pleasant interludes on the ride were when we were stopped in traffic or at lights. Surely, there must be a better way to get an overview of Seoul.

I am a sucker for hop-on hop-off busses. I think they are a great way to see the city while getting information and history behind the landmarks. For only $18 you can easily get around to all the palaces and other major landmarks. The only down side is that the last buss is at 6 depending on where you are so you don’t have enough time to really see at the stops. Some of the stops take a lot of time, for example the War museums which could honestly take you all day. However, I did enjoy getting to see the views of the city and listening to the history and importance of many of the sites.

There is a choice of several routes; we chose the inner city one that went past the principal palace. The ticket office is somewhere near the Hotel Koreana.

This tour is an absolute rip-off. We were hoping for an open-air double decker like those we had seen previously. We had a vehicle that looked like a converted wooden tram. There was an audio commentary of sorts.

We were expecting a leisurely tour with a rich commentary of the city. In actuality, the driver drove as if he was possessed. We did not enjoy the trip nor the ride at all. We could not enjoy the commentary or easily follow the route due to the breakneck speed and constant jolting. We got off half way through and took the subway back.

An overpriced rip-off - avoid.

Couples
We start at the stop of front of Northface store and cafe location, about 3 minutes walk from Pacific hotel, we bought the tickets from a lady staff, price on the ticket were Won 18000, but for some reason was only Won 16000, the bus come 3 times every hour interval, half the bus is enclosed, other half is open, we given an earphone, when you plug in, you have many choice of language explain all the attractions along the way, you decide where you want to get off, take a picture of the bus schedule, so you know when the next bus is here, we got off at Gyeongbokgung, spend about an hour, catch the bus return to Myeongdong where we start, the bus take you to many places of interest and listen to the story in the back ground, it time well spent.

Usually use the hop on hop off bus when i go to a city for the first time. To me it is the best way of getting a sense of the city. This one, i am nt sure about. Super crowded. People riding on the foot standing entire route. Never had the experience to this extend before. Commentary was kind of poor, and usually the routes are interchangeable, they dont allow you to change routes, if u buy a ticket for one route, that is it.

I bought tickets (1 adult, 1 Senior, 1 child) online the day before from our hotel. We were able to walk to the meeting point by Koreana Hotel and received our tickets from the booth they have there.

We chose Tour A - Downtown / Palace Course. This course has 22 stops ... we did not get off on all 22 stops.

We had in mind where we wanted to go and visit but instead of navigating the subway or getting a taxi we opted to do this tour bus course. Save us time and frustration of getting where we want to go.

So on this course we got off at Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong, Namsangol Hanok Village, Namsan Seoul Tower ... we spent 1-2hours at each stop and had a full day of these sights.

Our hotel was near Myeongdong so we saved that stop for last and made our way back to our hotel with no transportation stress.

We received earphones so we could listen to the description of each of the 22 stops - which was helpful (BEWARE: Korean explanation plays on the bus’ speaker and can be a little loud)

Traveling with a senior and a child, this tour bus route saved me time in getting directly to the sight without getting lost or navigating the subway or taxi. This tour worked for us.
