- 146wesd0 contributionsThe perfect, VIP experienceOur group of 6 spent a whole day with Laurent, and it was one of the best decisions we made. First, Laurent was professional and accommodating. He picked us up from our port and planned an unforgettable day, taking into account our dietary restrictions and preferences. Second, Laurent's knowledge of the area from history to the natural vegetation was highly impressive. He took us to local and truly special spots that he personally had scouted out, where we felt like the only tourists present. Finally, Laurent's personality and friendliness sealed the deal on a perfect day. You could not hope to have a better guide to accompany your group for any length of time.Written July 19, 2024
- kaiiak170 contributionsWonderful Tour in Aix en Provence! What can I say but wow! Aix en Provence has my heart and I cannot wait to return, in part because of a wonderful private tour with Laurent. Our 4 hour tour was the perfect amount of time to see the village area and get to know the city. Laurent was the consummate host and you can tell he really loved sharing his lovely city with others. He took us to many of his favorites, and shared lots of delicious eateries and shops along the way. He was also willing to slow down and let us stop and browse certain shops when we asked, which was a welcome relief as some tours only have "their agenda". He even went out of his way to book us a dinner reservation at a local restaurant, which was one of the best meals we had on a week trip to Paris and the Cote Du Azur. As two women traveling together, we felt completely comfortable with Laurent as our guide. Overall, I would highly recommend doing a tour with Laurent and plan to book with him again when I return to the area sometime in the future.Written July 10, 2024
- Maps203925537830 contributionsGreat experience - after scheduling hiccupsScheduled day before trip through GetYourGuide for a 9am 4-hour tour; Laurent was quick to tell me he was available at 1pm, which was a concern due to an early cruise departure of 5:30pm. Laurent arrived 30 minutes late and was able to adjust: only 1 winery (which was amazing — very organic, “real-life” tour with the 6th generation sole owner of a family winery — fresh apricots off the tree as a bonus!), and a drive through the national park as a make-up for not having time to do the planned 2nd winery. Plan ahead, nail down details, and Laurent is a great guide!Written June 15, 2024
- Bridget H0 contributionsMust Do Half-Day Bandol Wine Tour from Marseille; 5/5 ReviewMy family of four (two parents and two female adult children) booked the Half-Day Bandol Wine Appellation Tour from Marseille for our short visit through France. Our tour guides, Gilles and Michel, were absolutely phenomenal! This tour included tasting 3-6 wines at two different wineries and exploring the neighboring areas of Le Castellet and Cassis, but they took it above and beyond! They were extremely knowledgeable of the wineries and history of the villages. The wineries were family owned, boasted fantastic white, rosé, and red wines and were breathtaking to look at. They took us down to the port town of Cassis to eat lunch from a delicious bakery where we enjoyed our food sitting near the beach. We then got to finish off the tour by visiting the Notre-Dame de la Garde, which is a must see as a Marseille tourist. Gilles and Michel were the most hospitable tour guides I have I ever had the pleasure of meeting. They gave us dinner recommendations as well as recommendations for the rest of our trip through Europe. I would 100% recommend this tour and our tour guides for anyone looking for a half day wine tour of great French wineries and must hit spots in Marseille.Written June 4, 2024
- 666ulrichs0 contributionsDisaster tour! The tour we took with my wife months ago was a complete disaster. The guide didn't know the way. Actually he didn't know anything! Unbelievable! He couldn't answer or ignored the questions when we asked. When I called to complain, I couldn't find anyone. Never again! I never recommend it to anyoneWritten May 29, 2024
- rosieh8260 contributionsGreat wine tourGreat tour with Laurent! Very good communication before the tour where he arranged a convenient pick up location for us. He ensured the tour was personalised to us and what we wanted from the day - which was to drink lots of wine! He even brought a cork screw and cups so we could drink our wine at the top of a beautiful view point. The vineyards we visited were lovely and we had a nice lunch stop as well.Written April 8, 2024
- mauramulligan0 contributionsFood and Wine of MarseilleAmazing tour with Sophia. Great group on the tour and interesting food and some very nice wines. The weather was perfect and everyone in great form after the rugby match the previous evening. We won 🙌🏼Written February 6, 2024
- _A7873RV0 contributionsMarseille Tourist Office's Verdict: 'A Culinary Tour Guide Serving Food from a Thermos'When we complained to the Marseille Tourist Office, they said our guide was known as "a man who guides a culinary tour and serves food from a thermos." It seems others had similar experiences. There were a group of six French people, two German tourists, and two guide interns on the "3-hour walking food tour." I think one of the recent reviews might be from an intern pretending to be a tourist. The German girls are also upset about the poor quality of the tour and are in touch with us. We started by drinking fish soup from a thermos, accompanied by poutargue, in the middle of a gallery where we felt out of place. We couldn't get chickpea crepes because the place was closed, much to our guide's surprise. Then, our guide wanted us to drink anise liqueur from a thermos in front of the Opera when another place was closed. In a desperate move, our guide led us to a dingy shop that sold cheese, fish, and meat together. The guide ordered one small cheese to share, plus whelks and chickpea chips that expired six months ago. We ate them because we were hungry. It was only later that we noticed the chips' expiration date. When we pointed this out to our guide, she said that such items don’t spoil. After looking around, I noticed that there were a lot of expired items being sold in this shop. It seems like it might even specialize in selling such things. We didn't finish the whelks, and the guide told to the shop owner that her son would pick them up later in the afternoon. After two hours, we realized it was a scam and confronted the guide. We even called her boss, but he didn't want to talk to us. The guide said there would be more to see and taste, so we followed, skeptical. And rightly so. Our "grand finale" consisted of one bottle of wine, two baguettes, two identical cheeses, and some tapenade jars arranged haphazardly on a random bench. Please refer to the attached photo of our pitiful picnic for eight. In conclusion, this experience was not only disappointing but also a clear case of being scammed.Written February 2, 2024
- I417KNlilyf0 contributionsdommage mais pas vraiment de votre fauteI attended a tour with a group of two Germans and six French people, as indicated on the site the tours can be done in several languages so here we had French and German mixed since it was not a private tour. This really annoyed the French so there was a bad atmosphere from the start... We tasted tapenade, an anchoidade, wine, whelk, pastis, two cheeses, soup, poutargue, rouille which is already 9 dégustations. We visited the districts which hides the history of Marseille and its ships explained well by the guide , we also visited the Marché de Noaille, it is a place hidden from tourists which clearly shows the diversity in the history of Marseille. Unfortunately at 2/3 of the tour the French were unsatisfied because they didn't have enough to eat, and stopped the tour to attack the guide instead of leaving (as they kept saying) they couldve asked for a refund or an explanation from the boss after the tour. Because of this the end of the tour was rushed with only half an hour left because we lost 30 min arguing we were not able to visit the quartier du panier. Unfortunately this all happened because of unsatisfied customers, which I can understand but dont ruin the experience for others please.Written January 30, 2024
- jackiegZ5751BJ0 contributionsMust do tour in beautiful MarseilleMarseille was our first port of call on our cruise. We chose to book a wine tour with provence amazing tours. The 6 of us had a great time. We visited 2 vineyards in the beautiful provence countryside, we were then taken for a drive up in the hills with some amazing views. Our driver Laurent was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained during our journey. He even gave us some tips for our next stop in CannesWritten November 3, 2023
- H N0 contributionsToulon, Bandol and Cassis tourWe booked this tour based on all the positive reviews and Laurent did not disappoint. He was very accommodating as we changed our plans last minute. He showed us places only locals knew about. He provided a lot of historical information, insights and injected humor to keep the tour lively and fun. We enjoyed his company and would highly recommend his tour to anyone wanting to experience Cote D' Azur like a local.Written November 3, 2023
- halybitlate0 contributionsFabulous tourOur group of 5 had an amazing day with Laurent. He picked us up from our cruise ship and took us to some excellent wineries. His knowledge of the local area is incredible and kept us entertained throughout the day. He even provided a mic for us to have a wee sing song in the car (Scottish & French classics!). His ears must have been bleeding with our terrible singing voices! He provided excellent translation so we got the most out of the wine tastings. Laurent took us on the scenic route back to Marseille port providing us with panoramic views and plenty of opportunities to take some stunning photos. I would love to take another tour with Laurent if and when we return to the area. Thanks so much!Written October 23, 2023
- I9159ENchrisp0 contributionsInteresting and fun exploration of MarseilleMy brother in law and I had a really fun tour with Laurent, who was v informative and genuinely cared about us learning about the fabulous city. Although not as much wine as we thought there would be.. we were provided with a great sample of food, snacks and drinks (much of which Laurent himself had prepared). Laurent even helped us to get to the Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde, which he didn’t have to do (v kind). You should definitely do this trip to explore, discover new things and laugh a lot.Written September 29, 2023
- 255irish0 contributionsDo Not Book with himDo not book! We were on a cruise. I Had a medical emergency, needed to leave my cruise and canceled our tour 30 hrs prior to arriving to marseille. No where in Laurent’s website does he list refund policy. He showed no compassion and refused to issue even a partial refund. And he is somewhat confused. Called me a month prior to my trip asking where we should meet the next day. Then questioned where and when I paid—and I needed to show him my receipt. I had to do his bookkeeping and he refuses to answer my emails now. Shady dudeWritten August 24, 2023
