Must do tour in beautiful Marseille
Marseille was our first port of call on our cruise. We chose to book a wine tour with provence amazing tours. The 6 of us had a great time. We visited 2 vineyards in the beautiful provence countryside, we were then taken for a drive up in the hills with some amazing views. Our driver Laurent was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained during our journey. He even gave us some tips for our next stop in Cannes

      Toulon, Bandol and Cassis tour
We booked this tour based on all the positive reviews and Laurent did not disappoint. He was very accommodating as we changed our plans last minute. He showed us places only locals knew about. He provided a lot of historical information, insights and injected humor to keep the tour lively and fun. We enjoyed his company and would highly recommend his tour to anyone wanting to experience Cote D' Azur like a local.

      Fabulous tour
Our group of 5 had an amazing day with Laurent. He picked us up from our cruise ship and took us to some excellent wineries. His knowledge of the local area is incredible and kept us entertained throughout the day. He even provided a mic for us to have a wee sing song in the car (Scottish & French classics!). His ears must have been bleeding with our terrible singing voices! He provided excellent translation so we got the most out of the wine tastings. Laurent took us on the scenic route back to Marseille port providing us with panoramic views and plenty of opportunities to take some stunning photos. I would love to take another tour with Laurent if and when we return to the area. Thanks so much!

      Do Not Book with him
Do not book! We were on a cruise. I Had a medical emergency, needed to leave my cruise and canceled our tour 30 hrs prior to arriving to marseille. No where in Laurent’s website does he list refund policy. He showed no compassion and refused to issue even a partial refund. And he is somewhat confused. Called me a month prior to my trip asking where we should meet the next day. Then questioned where and when I paid—and I needed to show him my receipt. I had to do his bookkeeping and he refuses to answer my emails now. Shady dude

Horrible experience with Provence Amazing Tours. We received an email canceling the tour, without reason, on the morning of the tour. We were notified just as we were about to walk off the ship. We had paid for this tour, for 8 people, in full, over 2 weeks prior.

Perfect Day from Aix to Cassis
What a wonderful day from start to finish! Laurent was so attentive and taught us so much from Aix all the way to Cassis. He made sure we had everything we needed so Charlotte (7 yr old daughter) could swim in the sea! Took us to a great restaurant in Cassis for lunch, gorgeous view and delicious food. He even squeezed in a wine tasting at a nearby winery and made sure our wine was properly packed for our trip home. It was a perfect day ! Thank you, Laurent :)

Excellent local guide, charming personality, very flexible.
Stephan was a charming tour guide. he took us wherever we wanted to go and suggested the museum of the cave. It was very nice. He then took us to a charming small restaurant by the water for lunch where we enjoyed a local experience.

      Great family experience for four
About half of the food on this tour is home made by Laurent, who used to be a professional chef before he gave it up to run tours. And oh my gosh was it amazing! I don't even like olives, but I loved the olives he served us.

Walking Food Tour of Aix en Provence
We had an absolutely amazing day with Laurent in Aix. He picked us up from our cruise ship in Marseilles and our first stop was a walk to a beautiful spot where Cezanne painted. We enjoyed delicious homemade snacks and an aperitif. After a lovely stroll, we drove to Aix. Once there, we sampled several specialties of the area from shops and an outdoor market. We concluded with a picnic of bouillabaisse and other fabulous treats. Laurent was fun to be with and created a truly incredible day.

      Loved this tour!
We loved our tour with Laurent!! Even though it was pouring rain most of the day, we still say this was our favorite tour of the trip. Laurent picked us up from our cruise port and right away we knew we were going to love him. He was friendly, enthusiastic & knowledgeable. He even practiced French with me. We enjoyed trying the local cuisine and he even went out of the way to find my father-in-law macaroons. We will definitely be visiting again because of Laurent. Thank you!

      Exciting times
The tour was so exciting and valuable. Laurent told us a lot of local information, history, and culture. Above all, he was very kind. We booked the tour last minute and put a lot of strain on him, but he was polite and communicative. I would like to recommend this tour to people from all countries as it was easy to understand even for those of us who are not fluent in English!

      Charming villages
Our group enjoyed our day in the Villages of Luberon and our guide/driver Laurent. The wine tasting was fun and the villages we saw, charming. It is a distance from the port and lunch ran long, so part of the day was rushed in order to return to the ship on time. Laurent is a lot of fun and not only informative but entertaining.

Convenient place to settle for visiting Cote d'Azur
Toulon by itself is not really worth visiting but it is the best place to settle a base for visiting around the Cote d'Azur area as you will meet so many points of interest on the West, North as well East or South radius towards the famous Porquerolles islands.also called Iles d'Hyeres. West you can easily reach Bandol with its nice Bay and its wineyards, La Ciotat that used to be famous with its Shipyards, and go up to Cassis, touching the famous Calanques and you are so close to Marseille then. North you might get to Le Castellet, typical Provence village with its wineyards ans the famous Motor racing circuit, as well as many stone villages at random on top of hills located on the first hills of Provence Alpes. Driving East, you are at one hour drive from St Tropez and Port Grimaud, the little Venice on the Azurean Coast. And last but not least, Toulon is the main French Navy harbor where the Aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is based when not sailing but I am not sure it is easy to visit.

      A great day
Great tour. Laurent knows all the history of Marseille and was very friendly as he showed us around the city. We tasted the local delicacies and were shown all the major tourist attractions. Merci Laurent

We booked the tour 3 days ahead. It was confirmed twice, few hours later and the day before. Unfortunatelly, we were not able to do it, because guide did not show up. There were 2 other people waiting for the tour. They send SMS/text if the guide is coming - nobody responded. I called 3 times and once I have left voice message. After 30 Minutes waiting (start at 11:00 am), we decided to leave and shortly after came message that the tour was cancelled 2 days ago. We have not been informed and frankly we have been super hungry, because we were expected to taste some food and beverages on the tour.

When you book the tour you have to give not just your e-mail, but also phone number, so I do not understand, where was the problem to inform us at all. I have even click on to be informed via SMS/text (just confirmation arrived).

This should not happen at any circumstances! I hope, we get our money back.
My recommodetion: GET ORGANIZED!!! Plus that 2 messages to confirm or cancel the tour would not kill you eather - hour/2 hours before the start.

We chose this tour because of the TA reviews but, alas, we didn't have Laurent as our guide.

    Our guide was absolutely hopeless.

His English was far too limited to do a tour for native English-speaking people.

Not only that, but he really didn't know very much at all about the city or the food. The combination of the two things made for a very tedious three hours.

At the start of the tour, we stopped at a fish stall where he purchased some tiny shells and then just handed them to us without any explanation whatsoever.

At one stage, as we entered a building, he advised us how to say hello, thank you and goodbye in French! Fine if you are speaking to a group of small children but there can be few educated adults in the Western world who do not know these words!

We were shown into one building which had some interesting photos of local food producers on the walls but he was unable to tell us anything about them.

He felt that the highlight in gastronomic terms was the slice of pizza that we were given! There may well be a sizeable Italian community in Marseille but that was completely irrelevant fare to give us on a local food tour.

The worst part was when we were left for over 20 minutes standing on a pavement in an area where there were no bars or cafés to sit in while he did the shopping for the picnic. This was absolutely ludicrous. He didn't even tell us what he was going to do.

Potentially, the picnic could have been quite nice but, again, he knew virtually nothing about the produce that he bought. He said the food and wine was 'local' but the cheap white Burgundy most certainly was not! The red wine was local but he had no knowledge of the grape it was made from.

It would have been a simple matter to do the shopping for the picnic before the tour started.

It was at the picnic that I discovered what I expected which was that Benjamin had only been doing the tours for two weeks!

This was all made worse by the fact that I paid for our 2 guests as a special treat for them.

I have done many food and other tours in European cities and up until now they have all been great. I'm afraid this was hopeless. It was, to be blunt, a rip off!

When we complained to the Marseille Tourist Office, they said our guide was known as "a man who guides a culinary tour and serves food from a thermos." It seems others had similar experiences.

There were a group of six French people, two German tourists, and two guide interns on the "3-hour walking food tour." I think one of the recent reviews might be from an intern pretending to be a tourist. The German girls are also upset about the poor quality of the tour and are in touch with us.

We started by drinking fish soup from a thermos, accompanied by poutargue, in the middle of a gallery where we felt out of place.

We couldn't get chickpea crepes because the place was closed, much to our guide's surprise.

Then, our guide wanted us to drink anise liqueur from a thermos in front of the Opera when another place was closed.

In a desperate move, our guide led us to a dingy shop that sold cheese, fish, and meat together. The guide ordered one small cheese to share, plus whelks and chickpea chips that expired six months ago. We ate them because we were hungry.

It was only later that we noticed the chips' expiration date. When we pointed this out to our guide, she said that such items don’t spoil. After looking around, I noticed that there were a lot of expired items being sold in this shop. It seems like it might even specialize in selling such things.

We didn't finish the whelks, and the guide told to the shop owner that her son would pick them up later in the afternoon.

After two hours, we realized it was a scam and confronted the guide. We even called her boss, but he didn't want to talk to us.

The guide said there would be more to see and taste, so we followed, skeptical.

And rightly so. Our "grand finale" consisted of one bottle of wine, two baguettes, two identical cheeses, and some tapenade jars arranged haphazardly on a random bench.

Please refer to the attached photo of our pitiful picnic for eight.

In conclusion, this experience was not only disappointing but also a clear case of being scammed.

This was more like a strange history tour that ended with a picnic at Lawrence house. The food tours I’ve been on in other parts of Europe you meet the purveyors of the little restaurant or store and they tell you about their food ingredients why it’s made the way it is etc. that was not the case here. It was a lot of boring history to be honest with you. Some of the people on the tour were ready to leave they were so hot and tired and thirsty I think it was about 2 1/2 or three hours before we actually got to his house at eight there was plenty of food that’s for sure but he really didn’t tell us much about any of it. I think a lot of it had to do with not a great command of the English language .

We were very excited about this tour. Arrived at the designated point on time, waited for 20 minutes, called the operator multiple times (went straight to voice mail), sent text messages with no response.
Pleased to say Viator customer service happily refunded our ticket cost but still disappointed to miss the tour experience.

Fantastic tour. Would thoroughly recommended to anyone interested in local food and culture. Laurent was a great guide and so hospitable allowing us into his home. Also big thanks to Anita and Kathy who also joined us and made us feel like friends not clients. Big thanks again for a wonderful look around Marseille.

I attended a tour with a group of two Germans and six French people, as indicated on the site the tours can be done in several languages so here we had French and German mixed since it was not a private tour. This really annoyed the French so there was a bad atmosphere from the start...
We tasted tapenade, an anchoidade, wine, whelk, pastis, two cheeses, soup, poutargue, rouille which is already 9 dégustations.
We visited the districts which hides the history of Marseille and its ships explained well by the guide , we also visited the Marché de Noaille, it is a place hidden from tourists which clearly shows the diversity in the history of Marseille.
Unfortunately at 2/3 of the tour the French were unsatisfied because they didn't have enough to eat, and stopped the tour to attack the guide instead of leaving (as they kept saying) they couldve asked for a refund or an explanation from the boss after the tour. Because of this the end of the tour was rushed with only half an hour left because we lost 30 min arguing
we were not able to visit the quartier du panier.
Unfortunately this all happened because of unsatisfied customers, which I can understand but dont ruin the experience for others please.
