What to expect
Meet your guide and small group of up to 15 people in central Arles in time for an 8.30am departure. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned minivan, soak up the scenery on the around 45-minute journey to the first stop – the UNESCO-listed Pont du Gard, a remarkably preserved Roman aqueduct dating back to the 1st century AD. Continue to the hilltop village of Les Baux de Provence and follow your guide on a walking tour of the historic center, where highlights include the Museum of Santons, the 16th-century Hôtel des Porcelets, and the Romanesque style St Vincent Church. Finally, visit Saint Rémy de Provence to admire more Roman ruins – the ‘Antiques’, which include an ancient mausoleum and Triumphal Arch. As you explore the impressive ruins, hear how the monuments were painted by Saint Rémy’s most famous former resident – Van Gogh. On return to Arles, your tour ends back at the departure point around 1pm.
