- 1Today, Monet’s house and gardens are maintained by the Foundation Claude Monet. The gardens are enchanting; from April to October, they overflow with wild roses, hollyhocks, poppies, and fragrant honeysuckle. The water lilies, weeping willows, and Japanese bridge in the Oriental Water Gardens are instantly recognizable from his classic paintings. The artist’s house features a cheerful and lively kitchen, as well as Monet's collection of 18th and 19th century Japanese prints. In the village, visitors can pay their respects to the great painter, whose grave is in the cemetery of Giverny's church.

The guide explained the cathedral’s architecture, from its towering flying buttresses to the intricate gargoyles, in an engaging way. Stories about its turbulent history and near-destruction during the French Revolution were captivating. The literary connection to Victor Hugo’s novel gave the tour a unique perspective. - antoinetted5140 contributionsGood tour, but…It was a good tour. We were able to get some history of the sanctuary. I think the tour itself was over priced. There was no information about the surrounding area.Written September 19, 2024
- 809eilidhs0 contributionsOk but only for those with some fitnessIt was in interest tour but the area is so busy it is difficult to hear the guide. We were only 2 on the tour, any more would have been impossible. The tour is only for able bodied people with a certain level of fitness as lots of stairs snd hills. The guide doesn’t take you into the church, only the streets but you can use the ticket to get into the church.Written September 15, 2024
- mcofqueens0 contributionsTerrific, spooky storytellingJade was a terrific storyteller and guide. There are so many spooky stories in this beautiful, historic cemetery, and we saw many of the classic, famous tombstones, as well as some of the lesser known ones that have truly fascinating tales attached to them.Written September 13, 2024

The lines were long even with a timed ticket and this town is just too small to accommodate the throngs of people descending upon it to see Monet's house. One cannot really enjoy the gardens or even the house because you're like cows being herded from room to room. There must be a better way to control the number of visitors per day so the place can be enjoyed and folks can have a nicer experience.

Very well-informed guide. The meeting up location was closed, so our small party (4) met in the street. Reasonable amount of walking in town to Monet's house/gardens. Great walk around the famous lily ponds. There were so many flowers & wisteria in bloom (May was a good time of year to visit). Gardens were lovely. Guide left us to go through Monet's home on our own, which was crowded and I feel would have benefitted from some comments from the guide.

We were picked up right on time by Greg
We were driven in a comfortable van to Monets Home and Gardens. Greg gave us a nice overview of Monets life and mapped out a route for us to see the gardens and the famous Lilly pond. We were able to explore at our own pace and had plenty of time to see all the gardens, the Lilly pond and Monets home and work shop. Greg then took us to view Monets family grave site and explained his family history

It was lovely small tour that met up with our guide Shelia. It allowed her not to use technology and make it a more intimate group. Shelia was very well resourced with copies of paintings/ documents and she paced the tour well with time to look and time to listen. She provided us with the intimate story of the Claude Monet family life, described his painting techniques for his water lily pictures and how he met his art dealer and became very wealthy. Really set the scene allowing us to see Giverny as Monet say it. Five Stars.

We had a tour of Monets house and garden in Giverny in English with Sheila. Really enjoyed and would recommend it to others. First week of April garden was in full bloom, tulips, apple trees, very beautiful! Sheila took time to tell us details about life of Monet, his childhood, family, work while we visited his house and beautiful garden. A lot of interesting info which helps to understand his life and appreciate his contribution to the art. My 14 year old daughter also enjoyed the tour and really liked Sheila! Thank you Sheila for the great time in Giverny😀!

The Monet gardens at Giverny are something very special. Having our guide Sheila show us around made it a pleasure. No hassles with standing in queues, it surely is a great option. Sheila was able to fill in so many extra details on Monet and how the house and gardens evolved. Even better was rhat ut was a small group of 4 and so we could talk about anything and everything Monet.

The tour was great and the guide was very knowledgeable, showing us locations within the gardens where Monet had painted some of his paintings. The tour stared promptly at the scheduled time and lasted for the advertised duration. The house was amazing but the gardens were stunning!

We had a wonderful day with our guide Sheila. The garden wasn't crowded that day so we were able to soak it in. Sheila did a great job explaining Monet as an artist as well as his personal life. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The actual house tour is pretty quick, the grounds are incredible!

A good way to see Monet’s garden and house and to learn more about the place than if you relied just on information available around the grounds.
The house and garden were very crowded on the day I visited, and it was difficult for our patient guide to manage a group of 19 people. In some places, it was only possible to walk in single file along the pretty but narrow paths in the garden. If we tried to stand in a group to listen to our guide, we often blocked the path. I think a smaller group size would be better for this tour given the inevitable crowds at this popular attraction.
