The other poor review could not be more opposite of the experience we had with Dean. If you're inclined to walk through museums, this is not the tour for you. However, if you are keen on hearing about that fateful day with an expert, a walking encyclopedia, where you hear about many of the heroes you've never heard of, you need to contact Dean. My partner hired Dean for a private tour for my Birthday and Dean was absolutely incredible from start to finish. He's engaging, an expert, shows you parts of Normandy you will never see on a tourist packed bus, and he is very engaging.

Look, do the tourist thing if that's what you love. But for something more personal and moving, you can't find a better tour guide.

Also, while he knew I loved the 101st but he made me fall in love with the 82nd as well! Nice job, sir.

Shane, I wish I deserved the wonderful review you have given me. When my guests are knowledgeable and receptive, as you were, my job is an absolute pleasure. I know I do tend to shine a bright light upon the exploits of the 82d, but The Band of Brothers has given quite a bit of (deserved) airtime to the 101st. And, as you know, we don't overlook their incredible contribution to the overall success of D-Day. Guests like you two make my day so worthwhile, especially if I can go some way towards renewing your belief in miracles! Thank you for the wonderful review and I hope we meet again. Your friend in Normandy, Dean

This was our second D-Day experience for our family. We used Dean's Private D-Day Experience this time, as our last guide was already booked. I am extremely grateful that we came upon Dean, and his company.
1. He focused on understanding that we had teens with us and worked on including them in the tour. He asked each of them to do a little research on specific individuals that they would then hear about. The teens, felt involved in the time. They understood more about the what the tour was about.
2. His personal touch was outstanding. He was extremely focused on making sure our experience was educational, informative, and in general a wonderful experience.
3. I felt like he read our group of 8 very well. The 8 hour experience, certainly did not feel like 8 hours. The length was a concern with teens, but my concern was not an issue. Everyone felt as though the time "flew" by!
4. His knowledge is presented not in a lecturing manner. It is done so in stories, the ones he has researched himself through the myriad of public information. This time our journey felt like a school field trip, rather than a lecture presented in a stuffy classroom.
5. To top it off, the picnic lunch was put together by his wife, complete with homemade cookies.

The tour was a wealth of knowledge, but his focus on the human experience of D-Day is what was the absolute gem. You got in one, Dean!

I highly recommend using Dean on your experience! You will feel as though you gained a friend in Normandy!

Thank you for this wonderful and thoughtful review. I'm so glad that you were all so pleased with your tour. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the day with your two families. It was an absolute pleasure. I was particularly pleased to see how "into it" the youngsters were. Really super kids, really super parents, really super group. Best wishes from your friend in Normandy.

We booked a tour with Dean directly in earlier in the year, Dean confirmed that the he would refund the fee ($1000USD) if we needed to cancel the tour. Due to the pandemic we canceled the tour more than 60 days in advance of the tour. After more than 8+ attempts to contact Dean via email we have yet to receive any response or refund. While his tour are highly rated, I would strongly encourage you to select other providers, as Dean appears to less than ethical.

This can't happen. When you book, you pay Viator/Tripadvisor and not me directly. I don't get paid until 4-6 weeks AFTER the tour. When the pandemic took off, I was asked by Viator/Tripadvisor would I allow my clients to cancel without penalty. I did in every case. I didn't give the refund because I didn't receive the money. Viator/Tripadvisor made (or didn't make) the refund. In addition, I have a refund policy on this platform and cannot deviate from it. I only get paid when the tour is completed, and then only by Viator/Tripadvisor.
